A Visit to the Bishop's House

Have you been to our Bishop's House?

Recently a certain church affair necessitated this reporter's presence there together with a few of our lay leaders.

Needless to say the place was really depressing and totally devoid of any cheer. There was an uneasy silence. It was stuffy, what with half a dozen or more adult men living in the closed quarters of a normal house. There was nothing pleasant in there. Most striking of all was the presence of subtle evilness permeating the whole premises. It seemed the house was somewhat haunted.

My this rapt contemplation was interrupted by the footsteps of the bishop descending the stairs.

We might call him "his Grace". But there was scantly any trace of grace on his face!

മുഷ്ക്ക്, ഡീക്ക്, തണ്ട് . പച്ച ഇംഗ്ലീഷില്‍ പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ arrogance.

പല പുരോഹിതരിലും ഞങ്ങളിത് കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. എന്നാലും ഇത്രയുമില്ല.

Our vicar belongs to the Missionary Society of St Thomas (MST). Here are two excerpts from an article about MST you may find funny, knowing our vicar for the past nine years.

ചെറിയൊരു സംഭവം

ഇന്നലെ ഞായറാഴ്ച. സ്ഥലത്തെ ഒരു മലയാളീ സംഘടനയുടെ ഒരു സജീവ പ്രവര്‍ത്തകന്‍ , റോയ്. വികാരി യച്ചനുമായി അദ്ദേഹം എന്തോ കാര്യം ചര്‍ച്ച ചെയ്യുന്നു. അടുത്ത നിമിഷം അച്ഛന്‍ കലികൊണ്ട്‌ വെളിച്ചപ്പാടിനെപ്പോലെ തുള്ളിക്കൊണ്ട്‌ മുറിയില്‍ നിന്നും ഇറങ്ങി ഓടുന്നു. റോയ് പിന്നാലെ പിടിക്കുന്നു.

കുര്‍ബാനയ്ക്ക് മുമ്പും ശേഷവും അച്ഛന്‍ ഒരു അനൌണ്‍സ്മെന്റ് നടത്തി. ആരെങ്കിലും കേട്ടോ?

നമ്മുടെ പ്രതികരണശേഷിക്കെന്ത് പറ്റി?

ശ്ശെടാ! ഇത് വളരെ വിചിത്രം തന്നെ.

ജീവന്‍ പണയം വച്ച് രണ്ടു മൂന്ന് ഫോട്ടോകള്‍ എടുത്ത് പബ്ലിഷ് ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. നമ്മുടെ പാര്‍ക്കിംഗ് ലോട്ടില്‍ കാറുകള്‍  കസേര ചുറ്റിക്കളി നടത്തുന്നതിന്റെ ഫോട്ടോകള്‍ . പാര്‍ക്ക്‌ ചെയ്യാന്‍ തക്കം നോക്കി SUV കള്‍  പള്ളിപ്പരിസരം  മുഴുവന്‍ റോന്തു ചുറ്റുന്ന മനോഹര കാഴ്ച.

Sunday Ruminations

We cannot help but notice a great surge in the number of "thirunal"s lately. We recently celebrated the feast of St. Alphonsa, Bl. Kunjachan and now of course, St. Jude. And don't forget the feast of Bl. Euphrasiamma a few weeks ago. In all honesty I have to admit yesterday's was a neat little thirunal! The presudenthis did an exemplary job. May the celebrations such as this nurture the faith of Chicago Syro-Malabarees.

Chaos In the Parking Lot

Scenes from Sunday morning just before the 11 O'clock Mass. Many people had to spend a lot of time circling in the parking lot. It is a great shame!

Majority Vote for Change

A commentator mentioned about our just closed poll about the vicar. He claimed the public "unanimously" voted for the vicar to stay on for another 3 years.

The final poll results were: 49% wanted the vicar to be removed.
43% wanted the vicar to stay on, and 8% didn't care either way.

Now we are asking the commentator: do you know the meaning of "unanimous".
