മേലങ്കി മാറ്റിയപ്പോള്‍ രാജാവിന് ഉടുതുണിയില്ല എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞപോലെയാണ് ചില പുതിയ പ്രമാണിമാരുടെ കാര്യം. ചര്ച്ച് വാര്‍ഡിലെ യുവതുര്‍ക്കി, സോണി തേവലക്കര, പള്ളിക്ക് ഒരു നക്കാപ്പിച്ച കൊടുത്തിട്ടില്ല. സ്വന്തം പിതാവിന്റെ കൂടെ ഒരു കൂരയില്‍ പൊറുക്കുന്നതിനാല്‍ അതില്‍ അനൌചിത്യമൊന്നുമില്ലെന്നു അച്ഛന്‍ വിധിയെഴുതി.
എന്നാല്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ ഇതിന് പിന്നാലെ ദാ വരുന്നു മറ്റൊരു പൊല്ലാപ്പ്! ഇത്തവണ മിഡ് വെസ്റ്റ് വാര്‍ഡില്‍. സെലെക്ഷന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ കേള്ക്കുന്നു ഇവിടുത്തെ പുതിയ കൌണ്‍സിലര്‍ മാന്യന്‍, സെബാസ്ത്യന്‍, രണ്ടു കൊല്ലമായി പള്ളിക്ക് കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നത് വട്ടപ്പൂജ്യമാണെന്ന്. ഇവരെപ്പോലെയുള്ളവരുടെ സെലെക്ഷന്‍ അസാധുവാക്കനമെന്നാണ് ഞങ്ങളുടെ അഭിപ്രായം. പക്ഷെ ആയിരം ഡോളറിന്റെ ചെക്കെഴുതി ആശാന്‍ കസേര രക്ഷിക്കുമെന്നാണ് ഞങ്ങളുടെ വിശ്വാസം.
കിട്ടാക്കുറ്റികളില്‍ നിന്നും പൈസ മേടിച്ചെടുക്കാനുള്ള ഒരു കുടിശിഖ ശേഖരണ മാര്‍ഗമായി ഇതുപോലുള്ള സെലെക്ഷന്‍സ് പ്രയോജനപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിന്റെ പ്രായോഗിഗതയെപ്പ റ്റി അധികാരികള്‍ കൂലങ്കശമായി ചിന്തിക്കേണ്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

This is the reason why we need a democratic process for selecting the parish council members. With the election, we can select the most qualified person from each ward. Otherwise, some dumbasses will get in through the lottery selection. This is a shameful scheme.
