The Big Presbitarium Fiasco

Something very big happened in our church on Tuesday. So big if it was a circus, it would have been Ringling Brothers.

A Mass. Not a chillara Mass. A mega, no, super mega Mass. 36 priests of our diocese who are here for their annual presbitarium co-celebrated the biggest Mass of the century this side of Vatican. And the church was FULL. Yes, it was full of pews and no people.

Overcome with embarrassment, some one who was in attendance, and who is in the current ruling junta called us in the middle of the night.

36 priests, with bishop Angadiath as main celebrant, was celebrating a Solemn High Mass in a near empty church. It was so eerie, so surreal, in our informant's words. The only attendees were the Kaikkarans and their families and a couple of other people like Xavier Edakkunnath and Theniaplackal Ammachi.

Bishop Angadiath sang so horrible the pews would have run if they were not wood.

Even God, in the unlikely case He was there, wouldn't have been able to understand even one word of the Bishop's homily. And he went on droning unintelligibly for exactly 20 minutes and 36 seconds. He was like an old teletype machine spitting garbled messages. Our informant was very precise about this. It was such a garbled jumble-mumble even the co-celebrating priests looked perplexed.

We say this annual Presbitarium is a total fiasco. Another example of our diocese wasting faithfuls' hard earned money.

For example we had one of these so called presbitariums last year too. It also included lay representatives of all the parishes and missions. Many things were discussed. Many suggestions and recommendations were made. But what did the bishop do? He just sat on them. The bishop heard the recommendations through one ear and out they go through the other.

These presbitariums are, as we said above, another way for the bishop to squander money. Nothing positive has ever come out of these.

And after the mega-Mass there was a sumptuous dinner. The food was good. It was not the average Malayali fare. According to our high placed secret informant there was food enough for the whole parish.

So much food. And so few to consume it. Sad!

We feel sorry for the 36 priests. They have to eat the leftover from Tuesday for the duration of the Presbitarium. A retreat today and leftover food with it! Good for the soul. Bad for the body.

And come Sunday, Fr. Antony is going to thunder from the pullpit for the benefit of the whole listening world, what a successful, fantastic, productive presbitarium we had.

And we all pretend: "oh, yea, sure"!

Last Sunday's appeal to the parents by achan lays open for the whole world what they are all about. What they are all about is not you and me, nor your children or mine. What they are about is just THEY. Their survival. Their job security.

Achan is insulting the maturity, intelligence and the parental responsibility of every single parent of this parish by his spurious accusations. He is trying to scare the parents to give the control of their children to them. He is trying to instill guilt in the minds and hearts of parents, so that they can manipulate the minds of children to their advantage.

Another "Well Written" "Stupid" article.

Priests are there for a religious purpose. You can accuse the materialistic things but not with the "faith".

And what's the money matter you always cry for. As you mentioned, we, the American Malayalees are the richest syro malabarians. So according to me, our leaders need to have good food and good treatment. There is nothing wrong in it.

So criticise. But for the sake, you don't need to.

Voice writings are excellent. It is the voice of the people. Authorities should read it and change accordingly and stop acting for only their own benefits.

dont know waht is presbitarium..please read!!!!!!!!!

Presbyterium is a modern term used in the Catholic Church and Eastern Catholic Churches after the Second Vatican Council in reference to a college of priests, in active ministry, of an individual particular church such as a diocese or eparchy. The body, in union with their bishop as a collective, is a symbol of the collaborative and collegial nature of their sacerdotal ministry as inspired by the reforms made during the Second Vatican Council.

The presbyterium is most visible during the ordination of new priests and bishops and the Mass of the Chrism: the Holy Thursday Mass where the blessing of the oils used in the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick, and Holy Orders takes place. They are also visible during other special liturgical functions such as the wake and burial of their bishop.

To the poor Genious:

You said: "The presbyterium is most visible during the ordination of new priests and bishops and the Mass of the Chrism: the Holy Thursday Mass where the blessing of the oils used in the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick, and Holy Orders takes place. So what was the reason for the current presbitarium? Did we have any ordination of priests and/or bishops? Was there a Mass of the Chrism? Was there any liturgical functions such as the wake and burial of our bishop?

Respond.

We support our vicar. 200%. He is cool.. He rocks.. We hate you stinky Malayalees. We are Americans. We like the freedom, total freedom from your stupid culture. There is only one man in this world can lead us to our heaven. He is the man, the youthful, charismatic, youth lover. He is going to make following important announcements in coming Sundays. We don’t care if you like it or not.

1) You are doing a great injustice to your children if you parents feed your children with Chorum, Karrium. Give them only American food : pizza, burger, pasta etc. only.

2) You are doing a great injustice to your children, if you parents force your children to wear Churidar or Saree. Encourage them to wear something that allows them to show their assets like the sexy Americans.

3) You are doing a great injustice to your children, if you don’t allow your kids to go out with someone. I will make our parish hall to a dance floor. (There will be a collection for this and you stupid parents better pay for it.) Kids can have all kinds of fun and enjoy whatever they want from here.

4) If you bought a house with your hard earned money, give it to your kids and you go some were else. Let the kids have a life in their own way.

We love you da. You are the real Hero. We will make you the next “Bishop” of Chicago Syro Malabar Diocese.
