As a parent who have children of your age and very much scared about the fact that, after they go to college, they may not come back to the community, I sympathize to your view points.
What you have mentioned in your blog is a truth that the young generation is going to face in the near future as a part of Syro-Malabar community.
From my view point, the major part of the blame goes to the parents and the greedy clergy. I am not sure, if you are aware of the fact that, the powerful American Dollar worth anywhere between 45 to 50 Indian money. We don't have any (except a few)priests who were born and raised in USA. Majority of the clergy in Syro-Malabar comes from India with the solid intention of making money and conduct a luxurious life which is not possible and allowed in India.
So when they get here, the community that had been dying to be looking for their origin and wanted to be recognized as a separate community, will go after them blindly asking for their guidance and leadership. They know this weakness. So the first thing they look for is , the position seekers. The greedy clergy cuts a deal with the position seekers to make money in exchange of positions to them. As a result , the voiceless majority who foots the money for good causes becomes frustrated ,seeing that the hard earned money they donated had been scammed away, under many many schemes. The Catholic community in India has a tradition of vesting blind belief in the clergy. They never question them about any bad deeds due to fear and respect. So the clergy takes advantage of that fear and respect.
But what happened in Coppell, Texas is, that vibrant community which seems to have some backbone unlike other communities questioned the unfair acts of the clergy. That's when the fight started. Please don't worry about this. This is only a beginning. The duty of eliminating the corruption from the community had been given to the younger generation and future congregants like you.We, the parents will give you all the help and advice you want. You are part of the Syro-Malabar community. Never hesitate to come back after you go to college. As a parent I congratulate you for dedicating some time and effort to express your concern about our noble Syro-Malabar community. We need you. We have to keep our identity as Syro-Malabarians.

Tell me the name of a priest who came from kerala who is not greedy for the dollars. Some are smart and they are able to manipulate and take money from you with out you knowing about it. Some work and serve the community at the same time.
They get paid in so many ways and who know how much they make. Can any of the priest tell us what they make ? Including the gifts and contribution from the devotees and others?
I know one thing. SMC priests and their families are financially doing extremely well.
In Germany i heard the priests are paid for the GOVT?
What you do in Koppel will hopefully open the eyes of many people and make them trust in true God. not the priests who act as gods from the gods own country.
Open your eyes! American born children stop attending syro-malabar churches once they go to college! Why are we all throwing our money to the Bishop and these priests? Everyone keeps saying this church is for our children, but they will not be attending when they are older. I will not be giving anymore money to the SMCC anymore. At least I know the American church is not going to scam me.

There are people who choose to be part of all the corruption and make money, gain social mileage etc. Some will just not react.
Then we have minority who are smart, intelligent, and true believers who expose all the corruption and try to make the world a better place. You belong to that minority and hats off to you all.

saying this. But anyways.
First of all, Coppel parishioners, you guys have already made your point the day you installed the crucifix on the altar. You took a stand and never wavered and made sure your stand is implemented.
Bishop & other priests who are in-charge, please accept the fact that people's feeling has been hurt. They took the extreme measures like installing the crucifix out of frustration and disappointment. I don't believe anybody who contributed the hard earned money is a goonda or a enemy of the church or diocese. As leader of our church, please take charge & the responsibility and work out a resolution and re-conciliation. This crisis is not helping the Syro-Malabar church or our community or families. This is making us a laughing stock in the Indian community & others. This is causing community to divide and issues within families. Bishop, I urge you to take some action towards reconciliation. Please take the help of your superior or piers. SMC community in US is well of in education & finance. They have high expectations. This diocese is different from all other SMC dioceses’ in millions ways. Bishop, people like you and expect to see and hear more from you. Please take some bold steps. We're all with you.
And to my friends (Yes, I mean it. I am not from Texas but I personally know many of you.). I know you guys have been through a lot of trouble and I totally understand your frustration. But please remember, we are one big family(no joke). We always have issues and crisis within our families but end of the day we resolve them and find some common ground.
Correct me if I am wrong. This clavar cross is no more the focal point. This issue has become personal. When I see the blog, people are making personal attacks and character assassination. Everyone has the right to choose and express their opinion. Like you guys installed the crucifix, other did things which they thought is the right thing to do. And they did things as per guidance/instruction from Bishop and other influential people. There are times when we do things which we may not personally approve. Please consider that.
End of the day, we need to stay as a community forever. The kids are watching us. Even if they are not questioning our actions now, they are forming their opinions. Family units and what they are for.
Even when there are only handful of families, many SMC churches have family units. President, Secretary and all kinds of funny titles. They get together as small groups and have some movie nights, Xmas carols etc, bible studies.
When this community had no church building, the preaching was that "we need a place of our own to worship and study bible and pray together"
The only reason for dividing into units is to control the outcome of the elections.The leader of the church get to know the "yes" people and elect them by hook or by crook.
This is the simple reason why no one with true leadership skills are being able to become the decision makers or help the priest in decision making in many of our churches.
On the other hand every foolish or stupid decision by the leader is executed by a chosen team who has no experience and not connected to reality in any way.Look at almost every church that is wasting your money,Underwater, you will see this happening.

St.Mark of Galilee was martyred in Italy but Galilean by birth.

I am a 16 yr old boy in Coppell Texas. I have made an appointment with my school psychologist. This is my problem. My mother believes in kurisuroopam and my father believes in claver kurissu. My dad spend all his time writing nonsense on syromalabar blog or discussing it with his friends who have no work just like him. My mother works overtime to pay the bills and mortgage because we bought a home bigger than all other nurses and have furnished it with everything including a grand piano which nobody in our house knows to play. My grandpa in India is the only one who knows any music. He is the Kapyar in a remote village in kerala who is also the chief musician in the church. He plays harmonium.
I have heard that in some homes in Kerala when people fight they will have two kitchens. In my house we have two prayer rooms. Mommy in one room and daddy who does not pray or read bible has his prayer room with claver kurissu . Yesterday I over heard him say he is going to put a shower curtain in his prayer room ! Please help with any advice you folks may have because if I told this to my psychologist he will think I am crazy.

Vattan when you take these false documents to india, make sure you take the REAL documents about Bishop, Kadappin, and Zach scamming the church for money so they can live a luxrious life here in the US. While your at it, turn yourself in too

This is my advice. Please ignore your parents craziness. Go the gospel of the day on internet read it . Go to church listen to the word of the Lord only. Focus on your studies. God bless you. Your parents look like they are that breed who you cannot change. Some things can never be changed. You can only change yourself . Not others.

I'm the younger brother of 'crazy in coppell'. He really is crazy. He used to be normal. When had only one prayer room when we were living in smaller house, and my brother used to be normal. Daddy started drinking after we bought the big house. I think other uncles got him started on this bad drinking habit.
One evening, some church people came to our house and they were talking late into the night. I went to bed because I was sleepy from playing all day. But my brother stayed up. That is how I know those people were at our house very late.
The next day daddy setup his prayer room with a cross without jesus on it. Some people say it is because my daddy doesn't like to look at the crucified jesus after drinking.
I want my daddy praying with us. In CCD class, my teacher told me that jesus died on the cross. So why are you using cross without jesus? Uncles, aunties, please don't break our family with your cross war.

Uncle ചോദിച്ചില്ലേ എന്റെ Parents നോട് അഭിപ്രായം ചോദിക്കാന്. മമ്മി വളരെ busy ആണ് duty യും overtime ഉം. ഡാഡി off duty ആണ്. ഞങ്ങള് friends നെ പോലെ ആയിരുന്നു. ഞങ്ങള് bsketball, volleyball കളികള് കളിക്കുമായിരുന്നു. കൂടാതെ ഡാഡി നന്നായി cook ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു. കുറച്ച് നാളുകളായി ഡാഡി വളരെ busy ആണ് താമര കുരിശ് തലയില് കയറിയിരിക്കുന്നു. മമ്മി duty കഴിഞ്ഞു വന്നാല് രണ്ടു പേരു കൂടെ തുടങ്ങും കുരിശുയുദ്ധം. മമ്മിക്ക് crucifix നോട് വളരെ ഭക്തി ആണ്. ഡാഡി എന്തറിഞ്ഞിട് ആണോ കുറച്ചു നാളുകളായി താമര കുരിശ് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നടപ്പാണ്. നാട്ടില് ചില വീടുകളില് രണ്ടു കലത്തില് ആണ് ചോറ് വെയ്ക്കുന്നത് എന്നു കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട് ഇങ്ങനെ പോയാല് ഉടനെ നങ്ങളുടെ വീട്ടില് രണ്ടു prayer rooms വരുമെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു.
പിന്നെ എന്റെ പേര് വച്ച് എനിക്ക് മറുപടി എഴുതിയ ചേട്ടനോടു (#41) “ഇക്കാലത്ത് പാല് കുടിക്കാന് ആരെങ്കിലും പശുവിനെ വാങ്ങിക്കുമോ? മുട്ടിനു മുട്ടിനു മില്മ ഉള്ളപ്പോള് എന്തിനാ ചേട്ടാ പശു?” എനിക്ക് അര്ത്ഥം മനസ്സിലായില്ല ഞാന് ഡാഡിയോട് ചോദിച്ചപ്പോള് as usual, homework question ന് മറുപടി ചോദിക്കുമ്പോള് കിട്ടുന്ന answer ആയിരുന്നു “മമ്മിയോട് ചോദിക്കുക”. ഇതാ phone bell അടിക്കുന്നു ഫീനിക്സ് ല് ഉള്ള മാത്തുക്കുട്ടിച്ചായന് ആണ്. Uncle ന്റെ നാലാമത്തെ കുട്ടിയുടെ baptism ത്തിന് ഞാന് Phoenix ന് പോകുന്നുണ്ട്. അടുത്ത ആഴ്ച Phoenix വിശേഷങ്ങള്. Good Night.
