Something happened in Detroit last week. A meeting between the Shepherd and the Pastor. Under the guise of Holy Communion, Bishop Angadiyath secretly met Fr Varghese to plan the future course of action in respect to Coppell issue.
The new aggressiveness the Vicar, Fr Varghese, is demonstrating after his return from Detroit points to the pressure the bishop and his evil cabal applied on him.
Fr Varghese is now telling the parishioners of Coppell that the bishop will not hesitate to foreclose on the church property if people are not willing to contribute generously. But the people rightfully refuse to contribute as long as the church bank account it in the name of Frs. Kaduppil and Vinod.
Recently Fr Varghese along with a few cronies of the bishop has been calling and visiting key members of the parish to encourage them to use their influence with the parishioners. It is also expected that the vicar will use his sermon on coming Sunday to publicly announce the consequences of them not contributing. We have learned from confidential sources he is going to abuse the pulpit to threaten the faithful with dire consequences.
Now, is this a calculated move by the authorities to scare the parishioners? Many people, including us, don't believe so. The bishop is hellbent on destroying this budding community, which he sees as a grave threat to his Cause, his cause being the installation of the Marthoma Cross and altar veil. The people of Coppell has contributed generously in the past, and would like to continue contributing. But many ask, "why should we contribute when we know the money is going to end up in the hands of people we mistrust." The people, not one of them want their dream church foreclosed or otherwise lost. But it is this threat the authorities are using as a last resort to blackmail the people into contributing. We believe the bishop and his gang actually want to foreclose on the church. It is to their advantage to do so. Fr. Vinod has stated many times and on various occasions that the bishop and the diocese have nothing to lose but much to gain by foreclosing on the church, meaning there is enough equity in the property for the diocese to benefit in such eventuality. Many Coppellians say there indeed is a conspiracy among the authorities to accomplish this and use the money to prop up the cash strapped Garland church.
