". അങ്ങനെയെങ്കില്‍ നീതിമാനായ ദൈവം ഫാ. സജിയെ അനുസരിക്കാതെ, അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ചവര്‍ക്കും, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‍റെ മേല്‍ കള്ള ആരോപണങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തിയവര്‍ക്കും ഒപ്പത്തിനൊപ്പം ഇതേ ശിക്ഷ കൊടുക്കുമെന്ന് ഞങ്ങള്‍ ദൈവത്തില്‍ ശരണപ്പെടുന്നു.
ധ്യാനത്തിന്‍റെ ഇടയ്ക്കു തന്‍റെ ആശ്രമത്തിനായി ഉദാരമായി സംഭാവന കൊടുക്കണമെന്ന് വിശ്വാസികളോട് അപേക്ഷിക്കാനും അദ്ദേഹം മറന്നില്ല . വട്ടായിലച്ചനു വേണ്ടി അദ്ദേഹം ചോദിക്കാതെ തന്നെ ജനങ്ങള്‍ ഇരുപത്തി മൂവായിരം ഡോളറോളം സമാഹരിച്ചു. പക്ഷെ അതു ബിഷപ്പെടുത്തു സ്വന്തം ചേളാവില്‍ ഇട്ടു. തനിക്കുവേണ്ടി മാമാപ്പണി നടത്തുന്നതിനു പ്രതിഫലമായി വിശ്വാസികളെ പിഴിയാനുള്ള അനുമതി ബിഷപ്പ് ഫാ ബോബിക്ക് കൊടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട് എന്ന് ഞങ്ങള്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.

Frankly speaking, I used to hate Voice. I used to bash Voice for writing against Priests. I used to wish the Voice should be eliminated.
But Now, I want Voice to Stay, I want Voice to “Voice” and I want Voice to Act.
I ought to say, Voice is doing a tremendous amount of work to get the Syro Things straight. I know it’s take a huge effort and a lots of time to get the content ready and publish it.

He/They are not only doing an evantualization but also getting the “RIGHT” things to the Kerala Catholics. . I would also urge the readers to pray for our Bishop and his disciples to have some “Cathoilc” brain implanted in them. Because it seems like they have got some “Kaldaya” brain, which can be only used to “Divide and Punish” the original Syro Catholics.
Yes. It’s wrong to abuse and not obey the Bishops. But the fact is we are very much obeying the priests and Bishops. We obey Fr Antony Thundathil @ Syro Malabar Chicago. We used to obey Fr Sajey @Koppel. We obey His excellency Mar Varkey Vitheyathil, We obey our beloved Pope Benedict XVI.
Now who are we not obeying? We are just not READY to obey the “Dirty & Tricky” rules of engagements our “Current Structure” trying to impose. We do not have any issues with Mar Jacob Angadiath. Unfortunately knowingly or unknowingly he is in the very wring dirty hands and he is not thinking correctly.
May be most of our comment writers and readers, we’ve paid a lot of money to our Syro Churches, We buy little things for our home and spent thousands and thousands of dollars to our church.(In my case I shelved more than 20 thousant Dollars so far to Syro Malabar Church). How can anybody in the world say we do not have the right to speak about our believes and rights.

"First of all, both priest and faithful owe obedience to Christ and his Church in matters of faith, morals and liturgical discipline.
Neither the priest nor the faithful are lords and masters of the liturgy but must receive it as a gift through which, by actively and consciously participating, they enter into communion with Christ and the Church, and benefit from an increase of grace.
This fundamental obedience of the assembly to Christ and the Church is the basis for the other forms of mutual obedience within the assembly. In a way, the priest owes obedience to the faithful in that he has a solemn mission to lead them in prayer and worship according to the mind of the Church. And the faithful have a corresponding right and duty to pray and worship in communion with the universal Church.
This also leads to a proper understanding of the faithful's obedience to their pastors. They should be docile in accepting his guidance in all that touches on the mind of the Church.
Thus, with respect to the liturgy, the priest is called to direct the faithful in the Church's liturgical worship. The faithful, in turn, have an obligation to obey him insofar as his direction corresponds to Church's mind as expressed in the liturgical books or in the dispositions of legitimate Church authority.
With respect to acts of private devotion, the priest, as teacher, is called to guide the faithful to a solid spiritual life. In this he may sometimes be required to warn them against certain devotional practices that deviate from sound doctrine or that are prone to confuse his flock regarding the priority of the sacramental life.
In some grave cases the priest might even have to forbid the use of the church as a venue for public manifestations of problematic devotions. In carrying out these actions he must always be guided by sound Church doctrine and not his personal spiritual preferences.
As said, the obedience of the faithful to the priest is in virtue of communion with the Church and consequently they have no obligation to obey a priest who directs them to perform or omit acts contrary to Church norms, because in doing so he fails to fulfill his mission of leading in communion.
The faithful are also free to practice any devotional exercise that is in conformity with sound doctrine and Church norms.
However, the faithful should always have a presumption in favor of the correctness of the priest's directives in liturgical or spiritual matters and should avoid the danger of allowing suspicion to reign in their spiritual lives. If they have a positive doubt regarding any specific issue, the initial attitude should always be one of a charitable dialogue in search of mutual understanding.
Certainly, and not only in the developed world, the days are past when a priest was the exclusive source of doctrinal information. Today, most educated Catholics can find out for themselves what the Church teaches or regulates on any topic.
Yet this extra knowledge should be an aid to mutual understanding rather than a weapon of discordance and the attitude should always be one of construction rather than confrontation.
Sometimes an apparently erroneous directive may be justified by contextual circumstances not readily perceivable and in an attitude of mutual charity the priest should be willing to explain the motivations behind his actions and the faithful be disposed to weigh carefully what he has to say.
To some this might seem overly optimistic, but as the ancient hymn reminds us, "Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est" — Where true charity and love are found, there is God."

My Reply to the Bishop by Fax
Dear Bishop Angadiath,
Please don’t pressurize me to leave this Rectory, since I will be thrown into the street if I vacate from this residence. I cannot immediately leave for India for the reasons I have already explained to you ; I cannot come over to Chicago either, for the problem of climatic conditions, and for obtaining my Social Security benefits.
Therefore there is no possibility of my vacating this Rectory where I have been living for the last four years as the founding pastor of this parish with its Rectory. Besides, there is no place for another priest in my Rectory. I welcome your new appointee. But where will he reside?
The only solution is this: Let us build a modest residence in this Church Campus with due permission from the city; it may take a few months to accomplish that goal.
Besides, the tradition in the American Catholic Churches is that the retired pastors are given adequate accommodation and a pension by the parish or diocese. As I will be getting social security and medicare, I won’t be a financial burden either, to this parish.
So please don’t pressurize me to quit this Rectory and to be thrown into the street. As you know, any forcible attempt to evict me from this present Residence of mine would be illegal . Therefore I request you again, please desist from any attempt to evict me from this Rectory, my present Residence. I will not quit this Rectory; I have to reside here for some more years to avail myself of the Social Security Benefits, and helping others.

The Vicar General Intervenes. Msgr George Madathiparampil, wise and prudent, the Right Hand of the Bishop, proposed a solution, namely, another Room/Rectory in the dancing hall; or some adjustment in my old Rectory. The second suggestion is accepted. Arrangement is made for the new Pastor in the second bed-room in my old Rectory, where there are toilet and shower facilities. My bed-room is in the western side of the Rectory. Soon, we can have a good extension room for the new Pastor. Thus, the present set- up is in perfect harmony with the Chicago-direction.

An Open Letter of Thanks to All the Dear Parishioners
My Dear Brothers & Sisters and Children in Our Lord,
By the grace of God, on February 5th 2001, I could organize this St.Thomas Apostle AParish, with the inspiration and collaboration of some of our far-sighted parishioners--such as Jay Joseph, Nixon, Nelson, Kunjumon and a few others--in Yorba Linda. At that time, we didn’t have a penny or cent of land as our own; all the Church vestments etc. I had to bring from India--this was all before we had a Syro-Malabar Diocese; Bishop Angadiath was not yet ordained a Bishop. And our St.Thomas Parish Church was the first church to be bought by parishioners’ own money. We have not received a single penny from Chicago or anywhere for this parish--it is completely parishioners’ own contribution.
By Divine Providence, and by the untiring work of its Founding Pastor (myself) and people of good will, we have been growing steadily, day by day: First, we procured the Church in Fullerton, and then ( by 2006 August), we possessed this Church at Santa Ana. Though this one-acre land with the Church building costs more than $ three million, the Orange Bishop, considering my services in his Diocese earlier as an Associate, sold it to us just for $ one and a half million. In fact, ours is the ‘Best Parish’ on all accounts in the Syro-Malabar Diocese--that is the reason why many are eager to come down to this parish.

With no, or Nominal Salary. In order to make our Parish a full-fledged Parish with the Pastor permanently residing in the Church campus, at the beck and call of the parishioners, I had to make a lot of sacrifices: In the early years of this parish, I was rendering service absolutely gratis to our parish, without burdening our parishioners at all. Later, after moving to Santa Ana, I have been taking only $ one thousand ( $ 1000 ), while the normal salary for priests in the Orange Diocese is over $ three thousand. Even in our Syro-Malabar Diocese, priests are give car, and car allowance and house allowance for which I never made a claim. I came here, not for any pecuniary gain, or for popular adulation; but, to serve the Lord; I lived a solitary life in this Rectory, doing my own cooking, dish-washing etc. (with occasional help from some good people).Now, I am happy, there will be one more priest, my own student, the new pastor, in this campus. I now really rejoice that our parish, like the mustard seed of the Gospels, has grown to this vast dimension. Of course, the little financial savings I have, I spend for the Missions, and for helping others.
Residence Right, and Social Security Benefits. Bishop Angadiath (whose Guru I am) has been urging me from 2005 on, to retire, and return to India. If I had consented to his urging then, now there would not have been this lovely, thriving parish in Santa Ana.
For the last two years, he has been telling me persistently to retire. Finally, I said, ‘O.K. ‘As the Bishop of the Diocese, you may appoint a new pastor. I welcome your new appointee. He too is my student’. But Bishop Angadiath, was insisting that I should go back to India, since my residence in the Rectory will be a financial burden to the parish, and since the Rectory is small. No Financial Burden; No Shortage of Space. Since I get the Social Security Benefits from the government, I will not be a Financial Burden to anyone. And since there is ample space here in the Church Campus, there is no residence problem either for the new Pastor--so none of the objections are valid.
Illegal. Besides, it is against the law of this country, to force a person to quit his residence where he has been living over four years; any co-operation to this illegal attempt, is illegal as well.
Finally, my dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, I will be living quietly here in this old rectory, doing any service I can to anybody. My presence here, far from being a block to the progress of this parish community, will surely be, a help, especially to the new pastor. I intend to launch into the vast field of Mission work worldwide for the Lord; also for the writing Apostolate.’The Harvest is plenty’. I visited recently Japan and North Indian Missions with a missionary motivation. We should obey God rather than men’(Acts, 5.29).
Thanks to one and all of you for your co-operation and support so far.
If anyone of you has offended me, or if I have offended anyoneof you, let us forget it all, and erase it from our heart and soul and mind. ‘It is in pardoning, that we are pardoned’--sings St.Francis of Assisi. If you are really catholic please remove this article about fr.Boby. Following are the reasons. :
## Fr.Bobby is a missionary preaching in north India among non-Christians and militants like ULFA(Assam). It is very rare to see such brave/committed/gifted/scholarly/speaking priests working in such hostile condition. He speaks Hindi and His speeches are really great. For example, check the speech on intercession prayer in following page...

If We syromalabar folks ( including SyroMalabar voice) tarnish his image through such articles, we are destroying evangelization and mission activities. With these kinds of articles, missionaries will lose their support from America and India.
##. Please note that many open minded people liked the speech and retreat of Boby achan. I was told his retreat in other places also yielded great fruits for the church.
## The so called Controversial speech is not that controversial. Same speech content is preached everywhere in catholic church and if you are aware of catholic teachings, you will marvel at his knowledge and eloquence. Note that the disobedience applies not only to layman but everyone in the church.. When that speech comes to Coppell some people might feel uncomfortable because they may feel it is pointed only at them. They can react in many ways unfortunately the author of this article reacted with an intolerant way and sadly voice published only that response.
## Fr.Boby's speech on obedience is not really pointed at Coppel folks and I don't think it was delivered based on any agenda. For an annual retreat , he has the duty to say some stuff about obedience in church which he did well. Whatever he spoke is fully based on bible & church. Nothing new.…. However unfortunately the author of this article seems to view it from a colored glass, without taking it in the proper spirit. He seemed to be narrow minded unable to accept correction and criticism (Achan had not criticized personally). Author gives the message that he is not willing to listen to any advice/correction or different perspective which seems to be very intolerant attitude of fundamentalism. Just because he doesn’t like few sentences, how can he immediately bash at the priest. Just let it go…. That was the best attitude if he cannot accept official teachings.
