- Honestly speaking, I don’t understand what is all the commotion about Mar Thoma Cross! Even if it is true that St. Thomas did come to Kerala, still what is the big deal? I don’t mean to put him down nor am I downplaying the fact that St. Thomas came to India. St. Paul who is probably the greatest Apostle among all of Jesus’ Apostles asks: “What is Apollos, what is Paul? -- only servants, through whom you came to believe” (1 Cor. 3:5). He implies that since Jesus is the one who redeemed us by His death on the cross, no one else really matters in comparison with Jesus Christ. Simply put, Jesus is God and others are not.
- St. Paul says in Col. 2:17 “everything else and everyone else is shadow of things that were to come.” The reality is Jesus and once He came, others have no value at all. This applies to all Apostles or anyone else in heaven or on earth. In 2 Cor. 10:5 St. Paul tells that our weapons are not worldly, but on the other hand, they are divine. Then he goes on to say that our objective in using these weapons is to bring all philosophies and ideologies into subordination under Jesus Christ. This is true when it comes to the Cross oe anything else whether principalities, authorities, bishops, Pope or anyone else or anything else. In Phi. 2 Paul tells us that Jesus alone is LORD and that every knee will bend in front of Him. Even the Syro-Malabar Bishops like Powathil and Mar Jacob Angadiath will have to admit and acknowledge that He alone is LORD and His Cross which is the Crucifix alone is the real Cross. Everything else is a mere shadow and those who do not treat them as shadows will themselves become shadows!
- Remember for many years, the Israelites offered incense to the Asherah poles and the bronze snake which Moses had made for healing the rebellious Israelites who grumbled against Moses and were punished by the bites of the fiery serpents. God asked Moses to set up this bronze serpent on a pole so that whoever looks on it could be healed of serpent bite and live. But this was not to go on forever. However, nobody had the courage to crush it into pieces until Hezekiah, one of the most revered kings of Israel came along. In 2 Kings 18 we read that Hezekiah broke the bronze serpent into pieces and the Asherah poles to which the Israelites were offering incense for many years in the past. When Hezekiah broke the serpent into pieces, God was pleased with his heroic action. Therefore it says in 2 Kings 18 that God made him a king so great that there was no other king equal to him until that time. “He was (also) successful in everything he did” (2 Kings 18:7).
- In the Old Testament, the bronze serpent was a shadow of things to come in the New Testament. King Hezekiah put an end to this shadow when he destroyed it. Now the reality of this shadow found in Jesus Christ had to come as Jesus Himself prophesied in Jn. 3:14 when He said: “Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert for saving the Israelites bitten by the serpent, so also the Son of Man MUST be lifted up.” This is the reality being referred to in Col. 2:17. So we shouldn’t be thinking of any more shadows of the Crucifix either from the past or from the present even if it is one that originated after the death of Christ like the “Mar Thoma Cross”. These are all shadows. Just as God was pleased with Hezekiah, I am sure God is waiting for someone courageous enough to crush into pieces the Mar Thoma Cross from ALL our places of worship which is what we the supporters of the Crucifix want because God wants it!
- Let us not go back to shadows again. Let us not offer any more incense to any shadows of the Crucifix even if that shadow came from St. Thomas or anybody else. A shadow is a shadow no matter where it came from even if it came from Mylapore or St. Thomas Mount in Madras. We are living in the reality behind the shadow which is long gone. This reality is the Crucifix on which our precious Savior hung. The Mar Thoma Cross is nothing but such a shadow. Jesus told us in Jn. 14 that He was going to prepare a mansion for us. Let us not lose this real mansion by going after a shadow. Remember the story of the dog which was going along a bridge and barked at its own image and lost the bone in its mouth? Let us show more prudence than this dog which went after a shadow and lost the real thing. We have too much to lose for all eternity which is a real mansion that Jesus has prepared for us. It is an awesome mansion “which the eye has not seen, the ears not heard nor the human heart has not comprehended” (1 Cor. 2). Believe me, it is more than worth all the fighting that we are putting up against Mar Angadiath and Powathil many times over!

You are trying to water down the facts man. You are not going to be able to do that.
Who all are involved in the deal with Vishnu?And who all are involved in calling police?
If this guys are same then there are chances of a planned attack on Jojo and some families.
Being a community,it is the responsibility of each members to stand together to find out this bad element in our church.
If we need to go to court then we should support it.If this is true then it is a crime.We should not care if it is kaikaran's family involved in it or singer involved in it.
I will stand for justice.I extend my support for Jojo for this.If we leave this today then it will be against to someone else.So we must stand together.
Who all are involved in this criminal activity of a hiring somebody to hit Jojo and spoil the reputation of a family?

The Mar Thoma Cross: A Great Abomination to God and a Mega Tragedy for the Syro-Malabar Church – Tom Varkey
Several times in the past, I have repeatedly and emphatically stated that Mar Thoma Cross is an idol and therefore an abomination to God. Last time I pointed out how King Hezekiah broke into pieces the bronze serpent. In Jn. 3:14 Jesus prophesied that “the Son of Man MUST be lifted up” in the place of the bronze serpent that Hezekiah destroyed. But our Syro-Malabar Church hierarchy not only stubbornly refuses to lift up the Son of Man but also insists on placing yet another shadow in the place of the one King Hezekiah destroyed. They forget that the very purpose that God created us is for His glory and that we can never give glory to God if we are unwilling to obey Him. Our leaders adamantly continue to go after the Mar Thoma Cross saying it is equally venerable as the Crucifix even though it is only a poor shadow of the Crucifix. The Word of God (Col. 2:17) commands us to abandon all shadows now that we have the real thing which is the Crucifix. But we are still holding on to the Mar Thoma Cross, a shadow from the past which makes it an abomination.
Secondly, the claim being made by Bishop Mar Angadiath and their supporters that the Mar Thoma Cross has a close connection with St. Thomas, the Apostle is a defiance against the Word of God. In Titus 3:9 we read: “Avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments …” But our misguided Bishop and his supporters are trying desperately to establish the genealogical connection of the Mar Thoma Cross with St. Thomas. Little do they realize that the more they argue about this point, the more they are defying the Word of God (Tit. 3:9). By doing this, they are once again making the Mar Thoma Cross an abomination to God. Claiming to be wise (by arguing to establish the St. Thomas connection of the Mar Thoma Cross), they are becoming fools (Rom. 1:22).

A third reason why the Mar Thoma Cross is an abomination to God is the nature of the fruits it produces. In the past 30 years or so, the Mar Thoma Cross has created so much of strife, hatred among Syro-Malabar Catholics, disunity, deviation from all principles of Christian love, etc. These are all fruits which are an abomination to God and they paint a blasphemous image about us among our non-Christian brothers and sisters. Jesus asks us to “love our enemies and do good to those who hate us” (Lk. 6:27). But since the time the Mar Thoma Cross mania started spreading rampantly on the landscape of the Syro-Malabar Church, like the most aggressive weed we can think of, it has saturated the landscape with all kinds of evil. It has almost choked the very life out of the Syro-Malabar Church. In Mt. 3:10 John the Baptist said that “every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire”. For this reason alone, long time back we should have cut out this evil tree with its roots and limbs from our midst. Because this evil tree not only does not produce any good fruit, but it produces the worst fruits that you can think of.
Fourthly, the Mar Thoma Cross is an abomination to God because of what we read in Rev. 24:18. Here, we read: “If anyone adds anything to them (the words in the Book of the Word of God), God will add to him the plagues described in this book.” Now you know why the Syro-Malabar Church is in so much turmoil and torment. Jesus asked us to lift Him up in the form of the Crucifix which has only two components, the body of our Savior Jesus Christ and the wood just as there were only two components to the form of the bronze serpent which Moses erected in the desert. Guess what our Bishop Angadiath and Powathil have done? They decided to outsmart Jesus and added a third component – the LOTUS LEAVES, of course! Thus they have made the true Cross of Jesus the most disgusting abomination to Jesus Christ and God.
Little do they know that our God is an awesome God who keeps His Word. Therefore, He is fulfilling the prophesy contained in Rev. 24:18 by unleasing His anger on the whole Syro-Malabar Church. Thus the whole Mar Thoma Cross Mania has caused a Mega Tragedy for the whole Syro-Malabar Church. God has sent a whole bunch of plagues into the Syro-Malabar Church which has almost paralyzed the entire Church – plagues such as strife, hatred among Syro-Malabar Church members, disunity, physical assaults, immorality and lack of integrity among the clergy, etc. You name it, it is there and there is no end in sight to the multiplication of these plagues with each passing day. Still, the Syro-Malabar Hierarchy stubbornly insists on tightening the grip of the tentacles of the Mar Thoma Cross throughout the Syro-Malabar Church. Much in the same way as a starving octopus desperately tightens its grip on a bleeding jelly fish. As the grip tightens more and more, the Mega Tragedy widens and deepens further and further.
