വെറും രണ്ടു മാസങ്ങള്‍ക്കുമുമ്പ് ഫാ വര്ഗീസ് കൊപ്പേല്‍ മുഴുവന്‍ ഡോളറിനു വേണ്ടി കൊടിച്ചിപ്പട്ടിയെപ്പോലെ മോങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ട് നടന്ന പരിതാപകരമായ കാഴ്ച കാണാത്തവര്‍ ആരുമില്ല. അതിനു ഒരു ഫലവുമുണ്ടായില്ല എന്നതൊരു സത്യം. വെറുതെ കണ്ണുനീര്‍ പാഴാക്കിയതല്ലാതെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‍റെ കള്ളക്കരച്ചിലിനു മറ്റു ഫലമൊന്നുമുണ്ടായില്ല.
എന്നാല്‍ കൊപ്പേല്‍ ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ പ്രത്യാശ നല്‍കുന്ന നീക്കങ്ങള്‍ രൂപതാധികാരികളില്‍ നിന്നും ഉണ്ടായപ്പോള്‍ ജനങ്ങള്‍ അതിനു അനുയോജ്യമായി പ്രതികരിച്ചു. അന്ന് കള്ളക്കണ്ണീര്‍ ഒഴുക്കാന്‍ വറുഗീസുപാതിരി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ലെങ്കിലും കൊപ്പേല്‍ ജനങ്ങള്‍ അവരുടെ ഉദാരമനസ്കത കാണിച്ചു. വെറും രണ്ടു ഞായരാഴ്ച്ചകൊണ്ട് ഡോളര് നാല്‍പ്പതിനായിരത്തിലധികമാണ് സംഭരിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്‌. പള്ളിക്കൂദാശക്ക് ശേഷമുള്ള കാര്യം പറയുകയും വേണ്ട. വാര്‍ഡുകള്‍ തോറുമുള്ള കരോളുകള്‍ കൂടിയായപ്പോള്‍ പിന്നത്തേന്റെ ബാക്കിയും.
സമചിത്തരായ പല അത്മായനേതാക്കന്മാരും അന്ന് ജനങ്ങളോട് പറഞ്ഞതാണ്. ഇത് സൂക്ഷിച്ചു വേണം. പൈസ കണ്ടമാനം കാണുമ്പോള്‍ ഇവരുടെ കണ്ണ് മഞ്ഞളിക്കും. പുരോഹിതര്‍ ഡോളറിന്റെ പുളപ്പു കാണിക്കാതിരിക്കില്ല. കഷ്ടി കുഷ്ടി അന്നന്നത്തേക്കപ്പത്തിനുള്ളതില്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ ഇവരുടെ കയ്യില്‍ കിട്ടിയാല്‍ പിന്നെ ഭ്രമം കയറുന്ന വര്‍ഗമാണ്, എന്നൊക്കെ.
പക്ഷെ നമ്മുടെ ജനങ്ങള്‍ എവിടെ കേള്‍ക്കാന്‍ . അവര് വാരിക്കോരി കൊടുത്തു.
ചെളാവില്‍ ഡോളര് വന്നപ്പോള്‍ വര്ഗീസ് പാതിരി പഴയ ആളൊന്നുമല്ല.

ഉറങ്ങിക്കിടന്ന പട്ടിയെ കോണോത്തില്‍ കൊലിട്ടു കുത്തി എഴുന്നേല്‍പ്പിച്ചപോലെയായി.
ഈ രൂപാന്തരത്തിന്റെതായ തനി നിറം ദാ, അദ്ദേഹം ഇപ്പോള്‍ പുറത്തെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
പാരിഷ് കൌണ്‍സിലിലേക്ക് തന്റെ നോമിനിയായി വരണമെന്ന് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടുകൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹം കൊപ്പെളിലെ പലരെയും ഫോണില്‍ വിളിച്ചു ക്ഷണിച്ച് കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
കഞ്ചാവ് വലിച്ചാല്‍ തലയ്ക്കു പിടിക്കുമേന്നറിയാം. അതുപോലെ കോഴിക്കാലു ഈമ്പി വലിച്ചു കുടിച്ചു ഇതിയാന്റെ തലച്ചോറിന്റെ ഫ്യൂസ് അടിച്ചു പോയോ എന്നാണു ഈയുള്ളവന്റെ സംശയം. വെറും മൂന്നാല് മാസം മുമ്പ് വരെ Detroit ല്‍ കിടന്നു മൊരഞ്ഞു കുരഞ്ഞ ഈ ബ്ലാ ബ്ലാ ക്ക് കൊപ്പേല്‍ ഇടവകയിലെ ആരെ അടുത്തറിയാം, തന്റെ നോമിനിയാക്കാന്‍ ? എവിടെ നിന്നും കിട്ടി അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു ഈ "നോമിനി" എന്ന് പറയുന്ന ആശയം? കൊപ്പേല്‍ പള്ളിയില്‍ എന്നല്ല, അമേരിക്കയിലെ ഒരു സീറോ മലബാര്‍ പള്ളിയിലും "നോമിനി" യുടെ ആവശ്യമില്ല. വികാരിമാരുടെ കുറെ ഏറാന്‍ മൂളികളെയല്ല ഏതൊരിടവകകളിലും കൌണ്‍സില്‍ അംഗങ്ങള്‍ ആയി വേണ്ടത്. ഇടവകകളില്‍ നടപ്പാക്കേണ്ടത് വികാരിമാരുടെയോ, ബിഷപ്പിന്റെയോ അജണ്ടയല്ല. പ്രത്യുത, പൊതുജനങ്ങളുടെ അജണ്ടയാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ട് പാരിഷ് കൌന്സിലുകളില്‍ വരേണ്ടത് പൊതുജന പ്രതിനിധികള്‍ ആണ്.
കൊപ്പെലിലെ നമ്മുടെ സഹോദരര്‍ക്ക് മനസമാധാനം എന്നൊന്ന് തല്‍ക്കാലം വിധിച്ചിട്ടില്ല എന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു. അവര്‍ക്ക് പൊരുതാന്‍ യുദ്ധങ്ങള്‍ ഇനിയും ഏറെ ബാക്കിയുണ്ട്. അവരുടെ പ്ലക്കാര്‍ടുകള്‍ക്ക് പൊടിപിടിച്ചിട്ടില്ല എന്ന സത്യം മനസ്സിലാക്കിയാല്‍ വര്ഗീസ് പാതിരിക്കു നന്ന്.
പിന്നെ ഫാ. വര്‍ഗീസിന്റെ ഈ പ്രലോഭനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് വശം വാദരാകാന്‍ അര മനസ്സുപോലും കാണിക്കുന്ന കൊപ്പേല്‍ സഹോദരന്മാര്‍ ഒന്നുകൂടി ചിന്തിച്ചിട്ടേ അതിന് ഇറങ്ങിത്തിരിക്കൂ എന്ന് ഞങ്ങള്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. തന്നെ നോമിനിയാക്കിയ വാര്‍ത്തയുമായി ഫാ വര്ഗീസ് ഫോണ്‍ ചെയ്ത ഒരു വ്യക്തി അത് നിരാകരിച്ചതായി അറിയാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞു. താന്‍ സമൂഹത്തില്‍ ഒറ്റപ്പെടുമെന്നും, ജനങ്ങള്‍ പള്ളിക്കു പണം കൊടുക്കുവാന്‍ അമാന്തം കാണിക്കുമെന്നോക്കെയുള്ള കാരങ്ങള്‍ പറഞ്ഞാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ഒഴിഞ്ഞത്. എന്നാല്‍ അതിന് അച്ഛന് കൊടുത്ത മറുപടിയോ? ഇപ്പോള്‍ പള്ളിക്കു നല്ല കാശുണ്ട്. കുറെ നാളത്തേക്ക് ആരും കാശ് തന്നില്ലെങ്കിലും കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ മുമ്പോട്ട്‌ പോകും എന്ന്!
കോപ്പെലിലെ പ്രബുദ്ധരായ ജനങ്ങള്‍ ഫാ വര്ഗീസ് എന്ന വച്ചു നീട്ടുന്ന സ്ഥാനമാനങ്ങളുടെ ഈ അപ്പക്കഷണങ്ങള്‍ തട്ടിത്തെറുപ്പിക്കും. ജനാധിപത്യ പ്രക്രിയയെ അട്ടിമറക്കുവാന്‍ കൊപ്പെലുകാര്‍ കൂട്ട് നില്‍ക്കില്ല. അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്‌താല്‍ അവര് സത്യ വിശ്വാസത്തിനു വേണ്ടി പൊറുതി നേടിയ വിജയത്തിനത് ഒരു തീരാകളങ്കമായിരിക്കും.

Parish council should be an elected body of the whole Coppell parish. Absolutely no appointments.People will and must reject that. We should be vigilent. I think there should be fair elections(or voting) for the council and each ward should be represented proportionally.

Next parish council members should be elected from each ward. No nomination will be accepted here. So as Kaikaran, it was decided in a former general body meeting that the new kikarans will be elected by General Body, not parish council. If you are not doing this then people will stop paying money and will revolt openly against you.

The purpose of the Parish Pastoral Council is to assist in realizing the mission of the Parish and to advance its spiritual growth as follows:

One of the worst fears seemed to sneak back into reality in Coppell yesterday soon after the Holy Mass was over. Fr. Varghese wished the parishioners a Happy Christmas and then he let out the venom in his evil heart as he went on to read his plans for creating the next Parish Council. He revealed his plan to hand pick parishioners from each ward who will later become Parish Council members. I think he must have taken some advice from Fr. Joji Kaniampadickal from the neighboring Garland Church. Before the idea takes hold in his head, let me tell you, Fr. Varghese, this isn’t going to work in Coppell.
In the Book of Judges the overarching theme that is repeated over and over is the statement: “Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD” (Judges 13:1). This is a statement that seems very much applicable to our Bishop Mar Jacob Angadiath and Fr. Varghese. Otherwise, how else can we explain the behavior of Fr. Varghese yesterday only a week after the Bishop apologizing for his wrongdoing for the past 9 months against the parishioners of Coppell? This reminded me of one my nephews who would go on time-out for 10 minutes only to find himself misbehaving five minutes after his time-out ends.
Also this reminds me of what one of our Malayalam poets who recited: “ക്ഷീരമുല്ലോരകിടിന്‍ ചുവട്ടിലും കൊതുകിനു ചോരതന്നെ കൌതുകം”. Whether it is Christmas or Easter or whatever, what Fr. Varghese and our Bishop and all their Caldayan supporters care for is to advance the cause of their Mar Thoma Cross. To do that, they device their evil plans one after another which roar out of their evil minds like the roaring waves on the Arabian Sea on a stormy night. I asked the Lord what is the reason for this. And He told me the reason: their hearts and minds are still fixated on their idol -- the Mar Thoma Cross. In 1 Ths. 1:9 Paul writes to the Church in Thessalonica complimenting them for “turning to God from idols to serve the living and true God.” In order to serve the living God, one must turn away from idols towards the living God. Our Caldayan bishops like Mar Angadiath and Powathil and priests such as Fr. Varghese and Fr. Joji and their supporters have to turn away from their idol, the Mar Thoma Cross before they can sincerely say “Merry Christmas” to someone on this Christmas Day, much less serve the Baby Jesus born in Bethlehem 2000 years ago for their salvation.

Until they do this, they will become traitors of Jesus Christ or even like King Herod who tried to kill Baby Jesus as we read in Mt. 2:8-18. When I heard Fr. Vinod Madathiparampil was in Coppell, I kind of had a suspicion about some kind of scheme brewing in Chicago. Little did I know that this was going to turn out to be a scheme very much like the plot which King Herod devised to kill Baby Jesus. Like the other parishioners of Coppell, I also never thought that Bishop Angadiath was plotting to kill the Crucifix through another carefully devised plan to replace the one that was totally destroyed on December 19, 2010 when he came to consecrate the Coppell Church. We all thought that he sounded like an awesome Santa and I even mistakenly give him too much credit for it. For a moment, I forgot that “Satan masquerades as an angel of light” (2 Cor. 11:14). But don’t worry my friends of the Crucifix, with the strength of the Baby born in Bethlehem, there are not many days left before we will successfully crush the head of this poisonous Serpent who works through our Bishop and the malicious group supporting him. Merry Christmas to all my friends in Coppell and elsewhere. Don’t let this drama in Coppell spoil your Christmas joy not even in the least.
