ഡിസംബര്‍ 19 ന് ബിഷപ്‌ മാര്‍ അങ്ങാടിയത്ത കോപ്പേല്‍ പള്ളിയില്‍ നടത്തിയ പ്രസംഗത്തിന്‍റെ വീഡിയോ പല പ്രാവശ്യം കണ്ടു. അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുകള്‍, നടത്തിയ പ്രസ്താവനകള്‍, അതീവ ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ കേട്ടു. അദ്ദേഹം നടത്തിയ പ്രസ്താവനകളില്‍ ചുരുങ്ങിയത് ഒരെണ്ണം സത്യത്തിനു ഒട്ടും നിരക്കാത്തതാണ്.
"കോപ്പേല്‍ പള്ളിയുടെ അള്‍ത്താരയില്‍ മാര്‍ തോമാ കുരിശും വിരിയും തൂക്കണമെന്നു ഞാന്‍ ഒരിക്കലും നിര്‍ബന്ധം പിടിച്ചിട്ടില്ല" എന്ന അര്‍ത്ഥത്തിലുള്ള ഒരു പ്രസ്താവനയാണ് സത്യവിരുദ്ധമായി ഞങ്ങള്‍ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നത്. അതിന് തെളിവായി ബിഷപ്‌ അങ്ങാടിയത്ത് ഫാ. സജിക്കും കോപ്പേല്‍ ഇടവകാംഗങ്ങള്‍ക്കുമായി അയച്ചതും, കോപ്പെലിലെ പൊട്ടിത്തെറിക്ക്‌ തിരി കൊളുത്തിയതുമായ കത്ത് ഞങ്ങള്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്നു.
ബിഷപ്പിന്‍റെ ഈ കത്ത് ഫാ. സജി പൊതുജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ മുമ്പില്‍ വായിച്ചു കേള്‍പ്പിച്ചത്തില്‍ കുപിതനായ അങ്ങാടിയത്ത് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ചിക്കാഗോയില്‍ വിളിച്ചു വരുത്തി ഫാ. വിനോദിനിയുടെ മുമ്പില്‍ വച്ചു അവഹേളിച്ച കഥ ഇപ്പോളും ആരും മറന്നിട്ടില്ല. കളി ചീറ്റിപ്പോയി എന്ന് മനസ്സിലായപ്പോള്‍ ബിഷപ്പിന്‍റെ ഗൂണ്ടാകള്‍ എങ്ങും തൊടാത്ത തരത്തില്‍ മറ്റൊരു കല്‍പ്പന കെട്ടിച്ചമച്ചു ഇറക്കിയ കഥയും ആരും മറന്നിട്ടില്ല. ക്ലാവര്‍ കുരിശിനും ശീലക്കും വേണ്ടി ബിഷപ്പിന് പിടിവാശിയുണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ലെങ്കില്‍ പിന്നെ കോപ്പെലില്‍ സംജാതമായ സംഘര്‍ഷാവസ്ഥകള്‍ക്ക് വേറെ കാരണമെന്ത്? പറഞ്ഞ തീയതിക്ക് ബിഷപ്‌ വന്നു പള്ളി കൂദാശ ചെയ്യാന്‍ വിസമ്മതിച്ചത് എന്തുകൊണ്ട്‌?
കോപ്പേല്‍ പള്ളിയുടെ അള്‍ത്താരക്കു "നമ്മുടെ പഴയ ഗാര്‍ ലാന്‍ഡ്‌ മോഡല്‍" നല്ല ഒരു മാതൃകയായിരിക്കും അത്രേ! എന്താണീ ഗാര്‍ ലാന്‍ഡ്‌ മോഡല്‍! അങ്ങാടിയത്ത് മോഡല്‍ എന്ന് പറയുന്നതായിരിക്കും ശരി. അദ്ദേഹം അവിടെ വികാരിയായിരുന്നപ്പോള്‍ ജനങ്ങളെ വിഡ്ഢികളാക്കി പടച്ചു വച്ച വൈകൃതം ഇപ്പോള്‍ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ പാരമ്പര്യം ആണത്രേ!
ക്ലാവര്‍ കുരിശും ശീലയും തൂക്കാന്‍ അദ്ദേഹം ഇന്നുവരെ ആരെയും നിര്‍ബന്ധിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. കോപ്പെലിലും അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് അതിന്‍റെ ആവശ്യം വന്നിട്ടില്ല. കാരണം വിശ്വാസികള്‍ സുഖ നിദ്രയില്‍ ആണ്ടിരിക്കുംപോള്‍, അതായത് രാത്രിയുടെ മൂന്നാം യാമത്തില്‍ കള്ളന്മാരെപ്പോലെയല്ലേ ബിഷപ്പിന്‍റെ ക്ലാവര്‍ രോഗികളുടെ കള്ളപ്പട പള്ളിയില്‍ ഒളിച്ചു കയറി അവയൊക്കെ ചെയ്തത്! പക്ഷേ കോപ്പെലിലെ കാര്യത്തില്‍ നൂറു കണക്കിന് ഭക്തജനങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പിലിരുന്നു അവരുടെ മുഖത്തുനോക്കി പച്ചക്കള്ളമാണ്‌ ബിഷപ്‌ അങ്ങാടിയത്ത് പറഞ്ഞത്? ഇത് ഞങ്ങള്‍ കെട്ടിച്ചമച്ച കഥയല്ല. വീഡിയോ ഞങ്ങള്‍ ഉടനെ പുറത്തിറക്കുന്നതാണ്.
ഇതാണ് നമ്മുടെ ബിഷപ്‌. ദൈവം തമ്പുരാന്റെയും, കര്‍ത്താവീശോ മിശിഹായുടെയും, മാതാവിന്റെയും, തോമാ സ്ലീഹായുടെയും, അല്‍ഫോന്‍സാമ്മയുടെയും പേരെടുത്തു പറഞ്ഞു തീരുന്നതിനു മുമ്പ് അതേ നാക്കുകൊണ്ടു ജനങ്ങളുടെ മുഖത്തു നോക്കി കള്ളം പറയുന്ന ഒരു വ്യക്തി. അമേരിക്കയിലെ ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ ഇതൊന്നും മനസ്സിലാകുന്നില്ല എന്നാണോ ബിഷപ്പും നമ്മുടെ മറ്റു സഭാധികാരികളും വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നത്.
കോപ്പേല്‍ വീഡിയോ കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ മറ്റൊരു ദൃശ്യം കൂടി കണ്ടു. ഫാ. കടുപ്പന്റെ total humiliation. ഫാ. സജി സ്ഥാപിച്ച കോപ്പേല്‍ മിഷനെ ഇടവകയായി ഉയര്‍ത്തിക്കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഡിക്രീ പൊതു ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ മുമ്പില്‍ വായിച്ചു കേള്‍പ്പിക്കുക എന്നതായിരുന്നു അമേരിക്ക വിടും മുമ്പ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‍റെ അന്ത്യ ദൌത്യം. അത് വായിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‍റെ തൊണ്ട വരണ്ടുണങ്ങി, ചുണ്ടുകള്‍ വിറച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
"മാളിക മുകളില്‍ ഏറിയ മന്നന്റെ തോളില്‍..മാറാപ്പു കെട്ടുന്നതും ഭവാന്‍ "... എന്ന ഭജന ഓര്‍ത്തു പോയി.
ബിഷപ്പും ആവശ്യത്തിനു ഞെളിപിരി കൊള്ളുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. പ്രസംഗത്തിനിടക്ക് പല പ്രാവശ്യം അദ്ദേഹം വെള്ളം ചോദിച്ചു വാങ്ങിക്കുടിച്ചു.
സ്വന്തം കുഞ്ഞാടുകളുടെ മുമ്പില്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ വിരണ്ടു പിടുക്കുന്ന ഒരിടയനെ അടിയന്‍ ഈ ജന്മത്തില്‍ കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല, എന്ന് മാത്രമല്ല ഇനിയൊട്ടു കാണുമെന്നും തോന്നുന്നില്ല എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ മതിയല്ലോ!

കപടഭക്തിയും കപടസന്യാസിമാരും വര്‍ദ്ധിച്ചുവരുന്ന ഒരു കാലഘട്ടത്തിലാണ് നമ്മള്‍ ജീവിക്കുന്നത് . വ്യാജനോട്ടുകളും കള്ള നാണയങ്ങളും ഇന്ന് തിരിച്ചറിയുവാനാകാത്തവിധം പ്രചുരപ്രചാരത്തിലാണ് . മറ്റെല്ലാ രംഗങ്ങളിലുംമെന്നപോലെ തന്നെ ആത്മീയതയിലും ഈ മായം ചേര്‍ക്കല്‍ വര്‍ദ്ധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു . കാര്യലാഭത്തിനും ഭ൱തികനേട്ടങ്ങള്‍ക്കും മാത്രമായി നെട്ടോട്ടമോടുന്ന മനുഷ്യര്‍ ഈ കാപട്യത്തിന്റെ വലയില്‍ വീഴുന്നു . എല്ലാമതങ്ങളിലും ഉണ്ട് ഇത്തരം കപടവേഷധാരികള്‍ . തന്നെത്താന്‍ മഹാത്വപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതും ഒക്കെ ചിലരില്‍ കണ്ടുവരുന്നു -- പിന്നെ അവനില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നത് സാത്താന്‍ ആയിരിക്കും . ഇത്തരക്കാരെ തിരിച്ചറിയാനുള്ള വിവേഹമാണ് നമുക്കുവേണ്ടത്‌ . ഭക്തിയെ പ്രകടനോപാധിയാക്കി മാറ്റി അഹന്ത വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഇക്കുട്ടരെ ക്രിസ്തു എന്നും നിശിതമായി വിമര്‍ശിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് . ഫരിസേയരുടെ കപടഭക്തിയാകുന്ന പുളിമാവിനെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുക എന്ന് തന്‍റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ പലപ്പോഴും ക്രിസ്തു ഓര്‍മിപ്പിക്കുന്നു . കുറച്ചു ദിവസങ്ങളായി നമ്മുടെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട ബ്ലോഗില്‍ ഉരുത്തിരിയുന്ന സംഭവ വികാസങ്ങള്‍ വീക്ഷിക്കുന്ന തിരക്കില്‍ രണ്ടക്ഷരം കുറിക്കാന്‍ വിട്ടുപോയി. ഇന്ന് കുറിക്കാന്‍ വലിയ മൂഡ്‌ ഉണ്ടായിട്ടൊന്നുമല്ല, എങ്കിലും ആവശ്യം സൃഷ്ടിയുടെ മാതാവ് എന്ന ചൊല്ല് ഓര്‍ത്തപ്പോള്‍ എന്തെങ്കിലും കുറിക്കാമെന്നു കരുതി. വെറും പച്ച ആയതിനാല്‍ പുതിയ ideas ഒന്നും ഉരുത്തിരിയുമെന്നു ഞാന്‍ കരുതുന്നില്ല. ഈ നേരം കെട്ട നേരത്ത് , എന്റെ സ്വന്തം ഭാര്യ എരുമ ശോശാമ്മ ഉറങ്ങാന്‍ ചെല്ലാത്തതിനു വഴക്ക് കൂടി , എന്നെ
ചീത്ത വിളിച്ചിട്ട് ഉറങ്ങാന്‍ പോയ സമയത്ത് എന്തെങ്കിലും എഴുതാന്‍ ഒരു മൂഡും ഇല്ല. എന്നിരുന്നാലും നാട്ടില്‍ നിന്നും ഇവിടെ വിസിറ്റിനു വന്നിരിക്കുന്ന പ്രസിദ്ധ ജേര്‍ണലിസ്റ്റ് ആയ ശ്രീമാന്‍ ജയിംസ് കോട്ടൂരിന്റെ അഭ്യര്‍ഥനയെ മാനിച്ച് ഞാന്‍ ഒന്ന് ട്രൈ ചെയ്യാമെന്ന് വിചാരിച്ചു. സാര്‍ , താങ്കളുടെ ഒരു അഭ്യര്‍ത്ഥന എന്റെ " ജീവിതം - ആടിത്തീര്‍ക്കാന്‍ കഴിയാത്ത ഒരു നിഴല്‍ നാടകം എന്ന ലേഖനത്തിനു താഴെ 67 ആമത്തെ കമന്റ്‌ ആയി വന്നത് ഞാന്‍ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു, താങ്കളുടെ email address തന്നിട്ട് contact ചെയ്യുവാനുള്ള request ഉം ആയി. സത്യം പറയട്ടെ , സാറിനെ പോലെയുള്ള അതുല്യ പ്രതിഭകളും ആയി നേരിട്ട് ബന്ധപ്പെടാനുള്ള യാതൊരു യോഗ്യതയും എനിക്കില്ല. വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം കൊണ്ടും പ്രതിഭാ ശക്തി കൊണ്ടും ഞാന്‍ തീര്‍ത്തും താഴേക്കിടയില്‍ ഉള്ളവന്‍. ജീവിച്ചു വന്ന സാഹചര്യങ്ങളും പാലിച്ചു പോന്ന ആചാരാനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളും ഒരു സുപ്രഭാതത്തില്‍ തകിടം മറിയുന്നത് കണ്ടപ്പോഴുണ്ടായ ധാര്‍മിക രോഷത്തില്‍ നിന്നും ആണ് ആദ്യമായി എഴുതാന്‍ ആരംഭിച്ചത്. എന്റെ ആദ്യത്തെ write up വെളിച്ചം കണ്ടത് പോലും സീറോ മലബാര്‍ വോയിസിലൂടെ ആണ്. അതിനു ഞാന്‍ അവരോട് ആയുഷ്ക്കാലം കടപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ഈ ബ്ലോഗിലൂടെ ആണ് ഞാന്‍ മനസ്സിലാക്കിയത് എനിക്ക് എന്തെങ്കിലും ഒക്കെ എഴുതാന്‍ സാധിക്കുമെന്ന്. ഇവര്‍ തന്ന പ്രോല്‍സാഹനം എന്നെ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു കോമാളിയും പള്ളി അധികാരികളുടെ പേടി സ്വപ്നവും ആക്കി എന്നു ഞാന്‍ പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ അതില്‍ ഒട്ടും അതിശയോക്തി ഇല്ല. എന്റെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ യോഗ്യതയുടെ കാര്യത്തില്‍ ഞാന്‍ ഇന്ന് വരെ കള്ളം പറഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല. ഔദ്യോഗിക വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ യോഗ്യത S .S .L .C . ആണെങ്കിലും എനിക്ക് Ph .D . എന്നൊരു ഡിഗ്രി കൂടിയുണ്ട്. പത്താം തരം കഴിഞ്ഞു സെമിനാരിയില്‍ ചേര്‍ന്ന ഞാന്‍ അവിടെ വച്ച് ചില ദൌര്‍ഭാഗ്യ സാഹചര്യങ്ങളുടെ പേരില്‍ പുറത്താവുകയും വടക്കേ ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ ചെന്നു പെട്ട എനിക്ക് ഒരു Ph .D . തരമാകുകയും ചെയ്തു എന്നുള്ളത് ഒരു സത്യം മാത്രം . Late 60 's ല്‍ ആണ് ഇത് സംഭവിച്ചത്. പിന്നീട് അമേരിക്കയില്‍ എത്തി എങ്കിലും ജീവിതത്തില്‍ വലിയ വിജയം ഒന്നും വരിക്കാനായില്ല. ഇപ്പോള്‍ സകുടുംബം ഭാര്യയും രണ്ടു പെണ്‍ മക്കളും ആയി ന്യു യോര്‍ക്കില്‍ ജീവിക്കുന്നു.
ഇനി കാര്യത്തിലേക്ക് കടക്കാം . സാറിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും latest കമന്‍റു കണ്ടതില്‍ അമേരിക്കന്‍ മലയാളികളെ പറ്റി വളരെ പരിതാപ കരമായ ഒരു ചിത്രം ആണ് വരച്ചു കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. സാറിനെ കുറ്റം പറയുക അല്ല, ഞാനും അമേരിക്കയില്‍ വരുന്നതിനു മുന്‍പ് എനിക്ക് അമേരിക്കയെ പറ്റി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ചിത്രത്തില്‍ നിന്നും ഘടക വിരുദ്ധമായ ഒരു രൂപമാണ് ഇവിടെ എത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ കിട്ടിയത്. അമേരിക്കയില്‍ എല്ലാം സായിപ്പന്മാര്‍ ആണെന്നും അവിടെ എത്തിയ മലയാളികള്‍ എല്ലാം കോട്ടും സൂട്ടും ഇട്ട് സായിപ്പിനെപ്പോലെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പറയുന്ന വിദ്യാ സമ്പന്നരും ആധുനിക സംസ്കാരത്തിന്‍റെ പ്രണേതാക്കളും ആണെന്നുമല്ലേ ഈ ഇരുപത്തൊന്നാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലും മലയാളിയുടെ സങ്കല്‍പ്പം. ലോകം ഇത്ര പുരോഗമിച്ചിട്ടും , മീഡിയ ഇത്ര വികസിച്ചിട്ടും , മലയാളികള്‍ക്ക് എന്തേ ഇന്നും സത്യത്തിനോടു പൊരുത്തപ്പെടാന്‍ ഇത്ര വൈമുഖ്യം?............അമേരിക്ക എന്നു കേട്ടാല്‍ , അവിടെ ഒന്നു എത്തിപ്പെടാന്‍ ഏതു മാര്‍ഗ്ഗവും സ്വീകരിക്കാന്‍ തയ്യാറുള്ള ചെറുപ്പക്കാരല്ലേ ഇന്നും നമ്മുടെ നാട്ടില്‍ ഉള്ളത്? താങ്കള്‍ ഇവിടെ മൂന്നാമത്തെ visit ആണെന്നല്ലേ പറഞ്ഞത്. എന്ത് തോന്നുന്നു?..ഇവിടെ മലയാളികള്‍ survival നായി ചക്ര ശ്വാസം വലിക്കുന്നതായി തോന്നിയോ?....Atleast ഒരു 90 % പേരെങ്കിലും.

ആരെയും കുറ്റം പറഞ്ഞിട്ട് കാര്യം ഇല്ല. ഇവിടെ ഫാമിലിയില്‍ ആരെങ്കിലും file ചെയ്തു വരുന്ന മലയാളികളില്‍ മുക്കാല്‍ പങ്കും under qualified ആണ്. ഇനി qualified ആയിട്ടുള്ളവര്‍ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും ഏതോ വിധത്തിലുള്ള ഒരു അപകര്‍ഷതാ ബോധം അവരെ ഇവിടത്തെ മുഖ്യ ധാരയില്‍ നിന്നും മാറ്റി നിര്‍ത്തുന്നു. അത് ചിലപ്പോള്‍ അവരുടെ english accent ന്റെ പ്രശ്നമാകാം , ഇവിടത്തെ സംസ്കാരത്തോട് യോജിച്ചു പോകാനുള്ള വിമുഖത ആകാം , ഇനി ഒന്നുമല്ലെങ്കില്‍ സ്വന്തം കുടുംബത്തിലെ ഭാര്യാ ഭര്‍തൃ പ്രശ്നങ്ങള്‍ ആവാം. ആ frustration തീര്‍ക്കാനുള്ള ഏറ്റവും എളുപ്പ മാര്‍ഗം എന്ന് പറയുന്നത് മലയാളികള്‍ മാത്രം ഒന്നിച്ചു കൂടുന്ന പള്ളി അങ്കണങ്ങള്‍ ആണ്. മറ്റു ക്രൈസ്തവ വിഭാഗങ്ങളിലും പ്രശ്നങ്ങള്‍ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും അതിലേക്കു ഞാന്‍ കടക്കുന്നില്ല. ഇവിടെ ചിക്കാഗോ രൂപത വരുന്നതിനു മുന്‍പ് തന്നെ മലയാളി കത്തോലിക്കരുടെ ഇടയില്‍ അല്‍പ്പന്മാര്‍ ആളുകളിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ പേരില്‍ ചില്ലറ പ്രശ്നങ്ങള്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. രൂപത വന്നപ്പോള്‍ ശക്തമായ ഒരു നേതൃത്വം , വിഘടിച്ചു നില്‍ക്കുന്ന വിഭിന്ന സീറോ മലബാര്‍ ന്യുക്ളിയസുകളെ ഒരു കുടക്കീഴില്‍ കൊണ്ട് വരുമെന്നും , അങ്ങിനെ നമ്മുടെ പാരമ്പര്യവും സംസ്കാരവും പരിരക്ഷിക്കാം എന്നു പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുകയും സന്തോഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തവര്‍ക്ക് അമ്പേ തെറ്റി. കാരണം 70 കളിലും, 80 കളിലും 90 കളുടെ ആദ്യ പകുതിയിലും അമേരിക്കയില്‍ കുടിയേറിയ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ മലയാളികള്‍ , 90 കളുടെ രണ്ടാം പകുതിയില്‍ കേരളത്തില്‍ ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട പവ്വത്തില്‍ തിരുമേനിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ നടത്തിയ ക്ലാവര്‍ കുരിശു വല്‍ക്കരണം എന്ന ഏകപക്ഷീയവും , വിശ്വാസങ്ങള്‍ക്കും , പാരമ്പര്യങ്ങള്‍ക്കും , അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങള്ക്കും നിരക്കാത്തതും ആയ ആ തോന്ന്യാസത്തെ പറ്റി തികച്ചും അജ്ഞരാണ്. രൂപത ഉണ്ടായി രണ്ടു മൂന്ന് കൊല്ലം കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ എല്ലാം വളരെ ഉണര്‍വോടും ഉത്സാഹത്തോടും കൂടി മുന്നോട്ടു നീങ്ങി. ഇവിടത്തെ വിശ്വാസികള്‍ വെറും പൊട്ടന്മാരും , പൊങ്ങികളും ആണെന്നും , സ്ഥാന മാനങ്ങള്‍ വച്ചു നീട്ടി , ചൊക്കട നേതാക്കന്മാരെ കയ്യില്‍ എടുത്താല്‍ ഏതു തോന്ന്യാസവും ഇവിടെ അടിച്ച് ഏല്‍പ്പിക്കാം എന്നും മനസ്സിലാക്കിയ, കേരള സീറോ മലബാര്‍ സഭയെ കാര്‍ന്നു തിന്നിരുന്ന ഇത്തിള്‍ കണ്ണിയായ ക്ലാവര്‍ വിഭാഗം , തങ്ങളുടെ ദൂതനായി Rev . കടുപ്പിലിനെ ചാന്‍സലര്‍ എന്ന പദവിയും കൊടുത്ത് അമേരിക്കയിലേക്ക് അയക്കുന്നു. അതോടെ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ തകിടം മറിഞ്ഞു. അതിനു മുന്‍പ് തന്നെ ഇവിടെ ബിഷപ്പ് ആകുമെന്ന് ധാരണ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന , ഇവിടത്തെ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ തല തൊട്ടപ്പന്‍ എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന ബഹു: കണ്ടത്തില്‍ക്കുടി അച്ചനെ കര്‍ദ്ദിനാള്‍ മാര്‍ വിതയത്തിലിന്റെ നോമിനി ആയിരുന്നിട്ടും രാത്രിക്ക് രാത്രി കാലു വാരി പവ്വത്തിലിന്റെ ബിനാമി ആയി ബഹു: അങ്ങാടിയത്തിനെ മെത്രാനായി വാഴിച്ചു. അതോടെ ക്ലാവര്‍ വാദികള്‍ക്ക് കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ എല്ലാം സുഗമം ആയി. പിന്നീട് അങ്ങോട്ടുള്ള ചരിത്രം,അഴിമതിയുടെയും, പണാപഹരണത്തിന്റെയും , പോരാട്ടത്തിന്റെയും , കാലു വാരലിന്റെയും, തൊഴുത്തില്‍ കുത്തിന്റെയും ,ചെളി വാരി എറിയലിന്റെയും കുതികാല്‍ വെട്ടിന്റെയും എന്ന് വേണ്ട , ഇന്ത്യന്‍ രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും തറകള്‍ കളിക്കുന്ന third rate political game നേക്കാള്‍ കഷ്ടമായ രാഷ്ട്രീയമാണ് കഴിഞ്ഞ 6 ,7 വര്‍ഷങ്ങളായി ഇവിടെ അരങ്ങേറുന്നത്. ഈ പയറ്റില്‍ ആരൊക്കെ ആണ് ബലിയാടുകള്‍ ആയത്?... ക്രൂശിതനായ യേശു ക്രിസ്തു, സാധാരണക്കാരായ അമേരിക്കന്‍ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ വിശ്വാസികള്‍, വിശ്വാസം സംരക്ഷിക്കാന്‍ , ആടുകള്‍ക്ക് വേണ്ടി സ്വ ജീവന്‍ പോലും ബലിയര്‍പ്പിക്കാന്‍ തയ്യാറായ Fr . അമേരിക്കയില്‍ കുടിയേറിയ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ മലയാളികള്‍ , 90 കളുടെ രണ്ടാം പകുതിയില്‍ കേരളത്തില്‍ ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട പവ്വത്തില്‍ തിരുമേനിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ നടത്തിയ ക്ലാവര്‍ കുരിശുവല്‍ക്കരണം എന്ന ഏകപക്ഷീയവും, വിശ്വാസങ്ങള്‍ക്കും, പാരമ്പര്യങ്ങള്‍ക്കും, അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങള്ക്കും നിരക്കാത്തതും ആയ ആ തോന്ന്യാസത്തെ പറ്റി തികച്ചും അജ്ഞരാണ്.
CHICAGO രൂപത ഉണ്ടായി രണ്ടു മൂന്ന് കൊല്ലം കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ എല്ലാം വളരെ ഉണര്‍വോടും ഉത്സാഹത്തോടും കൂടി മുന്നോട്ടു നീങ്ങി.
ഇവിടത്തെ വിശ്വാസികള്‍ വെറും പൊട്ടന്മാരും, പൊങ്ങികളും ആണെന്നും, സ്ഥാന മാനങ്ങള്‍ വച്ചു നീട്ടി, ചൊക്കട നേതാക്കന്മാരെ കയ്യില്‍ എടുത്താല്‍ ഏതു തോന്ന്യാസവും ഇവിടെ അടിച്ച് ഏല്‍പ്പിക്കാം എന്നും മനസ്സിലാക്കിയ, കേരള സീറോ മലബാര്‍ സഭയെ കാര്‍ന്നു തിന്നിരുന്ന ഇത്തിള്‍ കണ്ണിയായ ക്ലാവര്‍ വിഭാഗം, തങ്ങളുടെ ദൂതനായി Rev . കടുപ്പിലിനെ ചാന്‍സലര്‍ എന്ന പദവിയും കൊടുത്ത് അമേരിക്കയിലേക്ക് അയക്കുന്നു. അതോടെ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ തകിടം മറിഞ്ഞു.
അതിനു മുന്‍പ് തന്നെ ഇവിടെ ബിഷപ്പ് ആകുമെന്ന് ധാരണ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന, ഇവിടത്തെ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ തല തൊട്ടപ്പന്‍ എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന ബഹു: കണ്ടത്തില്‍ക്കുടി അച്ചനെ കര്‍ദ്ദിനാള്‍ മാര്‍ വിതയത്തിലിന്റെ നോമിനി ആയിരുന്നിട്ടും രാത്രിക്ക് രാത്രി കാലു വാരി പവ്വത്തിലിന്റെ ബിനാമി ആയി ബഹു: അങ്ങാടിയത്തിനെ മെത്രാനായി വാഴിച്ചു.

പിന്നീട് അങ്ങോട്ടുള്ള ചരിത്രം, അഴിമതിയുടെയും, പണാപഹരണത്തിന്റെയും, പോരാട്ടത്തിന്റെയും, കാലു വാരലിന്റെയും, തൊഴുത്തില്‍ കുത്തിന്റെയും,ചെളി വാരി എറിയലിന്റെയും കുതികാല്‍ വെട്ടിന്റെയും എന്ന് വേണ്ട, ഇന്ത്യന്‍ രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും തറകള്‍ കളിക്കുന്ന third rate political game നേക്കാള്‍ കഷ്ടമായ രാഷ്ട്രീയമാണ് കഴിഞ്ഞ 6 ,7 വര്‍ഷങ്ങളായി ഇവിടെ അരങ്ങേറുന്നത്.

Dear Mr. Kottoor,
It was quite impressive to notice that you as a journalist visiting the US have even noticed and wrote your comments about what is happening here in the SMC community. You have questioned “if there is no other way to conduct a conversation”. Unfortunately I need to say there are no other healthy way to conduct this conversation. Probably you do not know the real picture of what is happening here. You may have seen only the superficial murkiness. If you are patient enough to go deeper, you will find that it is not just murky but too deep of mud unsettled under water. This is the result of the act ions by the Bishop and clergy not just from last year or two, but the classic and systematic destruction of the SMC community in the USA for the last fifteen years or more.
My name is Joseph K Mathew and I am a resident of Chicago. I am not an extremist nor I am a man to jump in to instant conclusions. I have been carefully watching the developments with SMC for the last 20 years in the North America. Unfortunately I need to say nothing is going good for the laity in SMC north America. I would appreciate if you could read Dr. Kochapi’s response to your mail, although it contains a bit of humor. His response about the starting of the Chicago diocese and the events there after leading the laity to go out of all normal means to keep up the faith and put an end to the absolute abuse of the laity by the clergy and corruption that is taking place under the Chicago Syro-Malabar diocese. The clergy is some how under the impression that they are living in the early 20th century and they can rule as then. I wish and pray that if they could get some feelings of the present age and situation and deal accordingly. I could see nothing that is done under the diocese programs that will build catholic faith harmony in thf family of ordinary Syro Malabarians under the Chicago Diocese. All the clergy wants to do is rule with the mighty fist, threaten with god’s curse(as if god will curse every one who they point to) threaten with excommunication etc. Whenever I go to Kerala, I could see lot of priests and nuns who think, feel and behave as the one among the community, unlike the clergy here who thinks they are specially created and has special rights. You have been talking about unity which mostly everyone want to see. But as you can see, that is not what the clergy want, they want to divide so it is easy for them to rule.
Now about the vulgar language some people uses. I am not trying to defend them or justify what they are doing. But I hope you will understand the frustration and pain one will feel when their pleads and requests are never heard or responded to, even from the top hierarchy of the Syro Malabar Archiepiscopal Curia in Kerala, under which the Chicago diocese is supposed to function. One may argue that vulgar is their character and no matter what they will do it. I don’t agree with that, it is the frustration fuming out. People who fought for India’s independence did not do it in the same manor as Mahamtma Gandhi did. The communist did it in their way, Subash Chandra Bose did it in his way. They were all unique. So please understand that every individual is unique and for a common goal they will do whatever possible in their on way.

കപടഭക്തി ദൈവത്തിനെതിരായുള്ള സാത്താന്റെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ആയുധമാണ് . ദൈവമല്ലാത്തതിനെ ദൈവമായി ആരാധിക്കുന്നതാണ് വിഗ്രഹാരാധന . " അവര്‍ ദൈവത്തെ അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നുവെങ്കിലും അവിടുത്തെ ദൈവമായി മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തുകയോ അവിടുത്തേക്ക്‌ നന്ദി പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്തില്ല . മറിച്ച്‌ അവരുടെ യുക്തിവിചാരങ്ങള്‍ നിഷ്ഫലമായിതീരുകയും വിവേകരഹിതമായ ഹൃദയം അന്ധകാരത്തിലാണ്ടുപോവുകയും ചെയ്തു . ജ്ഞാനികളെന്നു അവകാശപ്പെട്ടുകൊണ്ട്‌ അവര്‍ ഭോഷന്മാരായിതീര്‍ന്നു . അവര്‍ അനശ്വരനായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മഹത്വം നശ്വരനായ മനുഷ്യന്റെയോ പക്ഷികളുടെയോ മൃഹങ്ങളുടെയോ ഇഴജെന്തുക്കളുടെയോ സാദൄശ്യമുളള വിഗ്രഹങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് കൈമാറി (റോമ .1 : 21 - 23 ) . വഴിതെറ്റിയ ഈ സമുഹത്തെ നോക്കി കര്‍ത്താവ് പറയുന്നു : " നിങ്ങളെ ഞാന്‍ ഒരിക്കലും അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല . അനീതി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നവരെ നിങ്ങള്‍ എന്നില്‍നിന്നു അകന്നുപോകുവിന്‍ " (മത്താ . 7 : 23 ) . തിത്തോസിനുള്ള ലേഖനത്തില്‍ പ൱ലോസു പറയുന്നു , തങ്ങള്‍ ദൈവത്തെ അറിയുന്നു എന്ന് അവര്‍ ഭാവിക്കുന്നു . എന്നാല്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തികള്‍വഴി അവിടുത്തെ നിഷേധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു . അവര്‍ വെറുക്കപ്പെടേണ്ടവരും അനുസരണമില്ലാത്തവരും ഒരു സത്പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കും കഴിവില്ലാത്തവരുമാണ് " (തീത്തോ . 1 : 16 ) . വി . യോഹന്നാന്‍ തന്‍റെ ലേഖനത്തില്‍ താക്കീത് നല്‍കുന്നു : വളരെയധികം വന്ച്ചകര്‍ ലോകത്തിലേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങിയിട്ടുണ്ട് . യേശുക്രിസ്തു മനുഷ്യശരീരം ധരിച്ചു വന്നു എന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കാത്തവരാണ് അവര്‍ . ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവരാന്നു വന്ച്ചകരും അന്തിക്രിസ്തുമാരും . ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പ്രബോധനത്തില്‍ നിലനില്‍ക്കാതെ അതിനെ അതിലേം ഘിച്ച് മുന്നോട്ടുപോകുന്ന ഒരുവനും ദൈവമല്ല .അവന്റെ പ്രബോധനത്തില്‍ നിലനില്‍ക്കുന്നവനു പിതാവും പുത്രനുമുണ്ട് . പ്രസ്തുത പ്രബോധനമായിട്ടല്ലാതെ ആരെങ്കിലും നിങ്ങളെ സമീപിച്ചാല്‍ അവനെ നിങ്ങള്‍ വീട്ടില്‍ സ്വീകരിക്കുകയോ അഭിവാദനം ചെയ്യുകയോ അരുത് . എന്തെന്നാല്‍ അഭിവാദനം ചെയ്യുന്നവന്‍ അവന്റെ ദുഷ്പ്രവര്‍ത്തികളില്‍ പങ്കുചേരുകയാണ് " ( 2 യോഹ . 7 : 11 ) .
കോപ്പേല്‍ പള്ളിയുടെ അള്‍ത്താരക്കു "നമ്മുടെ പഴയ ഗാര്‍ ലാന്‍ഡ്‌ മോഡല്‍" നല്ല ഒരു മാതൃകയായിരിക്കും അത്രേ! എന്താണീ ഗാര്‍ ലാന്‍ഡ്‌ മോഡല്‍! അങ്ങാടിയത്ത് മോഡല്‍ എന്ന് പറയുന്നതായിരിക്കും ശരി. അദ്ദേഹം അവിടെ വികാരിയായിരുന്നപ്പോള്‍ ജനങ്ങളെ വിഡ്ഢികളാക്കി പടച്ചു വച്ച വൈകൃതം ഇപ്പോള്‍ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ പാരമ്പര്യം ആണത്രേ!

Mr. Kottoor, you don't know anything about the lier Bishop of Chicago Syro Malabar. Go through the blog archives between last December (2009) through March (2010). You will know what they did to Coppell people and a poor priest Fr. Sajy.

Our Bishop is like a third rate politician....
He sent decree addressed to Fr. Saji and parishioners of Coppell Church telling them they have to make the altar exactly like Garland church altar with Claver Cross and Cheela.
He got mad at Fr. Saji for letting people know about the decree, But read the decree Isn't it addressed to all Parishioners of Coppell Church also, then this was his plan; threaten Fr. Saji and he will install Claver cross and Cheela at Coppell Church.
But the irony is Never ever SMC Bishop allowed any Bishop to forcibly install Claver cross in any churches period.
Even the The 1994 & 1998 Bishop Synod's instructions to all of the Bishops is clear to all of us...
Overtly and covertly don't forcibly try to install this persian Claver cross in no churches.
This decree from Bishop Angadiath is a clear violation of this instrction from the Bishop Synod and it shows he is even challenging the Bishop Synod himself with the help of Powethil.
Bishop Angadiath in his speech while doing the consercation of coppell church said without a shame he never asked anyone to put Clver cross, then what about this decree?
So Bishop is lying to everyone, In the decree he is clearly telling Fr. Saji and Parishioners they have to construct the altar exactly like (old) Garland church altar with Claver Cross only and cheela But In his speech while doing the consercation he said he never asked anyone to install Persian Claver Cross.
Enough is enough !! WE can not trust this Bishop anymore, we need a Bisahop who will not be a liar and instigator to get his agenda of kaldaayavalkaranam in our churches.
Bishop Synod of SMC and Cardinal has to take immediate action of recalling Bishop Angadiath.
We need a Bishop who leads by example, and to lead all of us from all different diocees in Kerala spiritualy together in our lord jesus Christ.

I see a political parallel to what is happening in SMC. After the November elections governance in the country is grindlocked between GOP and Democrats ending in the laatest shooting in Tuson,Arizona. What is important is not fixing problems in the two rival parties but coming together to save the country from drowning in debt, now over 14 trillion.
Similaraly syromalabarnewsblog and Faithblog are facing each other like armies to exterminate each other. What is important is not any of these blogs with block heads or wise cracks with their extreme views but the strengthening the SMC -- its spiritual,cultural, social and economic vitality as a praying and serving community trusting in Jesus' strenth, not theirs -- and doing everything to protect it from going to pieces due to infightng.
Building up a community with one mind and heart is more important than building up fashionaable churches and promoting liturgies to suit verious tastes.
I have to learn much more about what is happening here, it is true. But I am not totally ignorant of the past developments. Proof? Someone wanted to know if I am Kanaya. What is important is not to be a Lakri,Sukri, Kokri, Makri,

Will Mar Angadiath Soon Become Victim No. 3? – Tom Varkey
In the mid seventies, I set foot in America and soon found myself in the throes of settling down into the new culture of this country. One of the early lessons I learned while living in an apartment in Chicago was that if we are not careful, roaches can infest an apartment so very easily. One of the many gadgets I came across while trying to eliminate roaches was called the “Roach Motel”. It is a disposable roach catcher that uses a kind of powerful glue which had a very captivating smell for the roaches. Once a roach gets in and comes in contact with the glue, it can never extricate itself from the glue. For a couple of days or so, the trapped roach will be in the throes of death vigorously beating its legs in the air before it faces its ultimate fate. For an insightful observer, it would appear as though the dying roach, through the desperate movements of its legs, was warning the other roaches standing at the gate of the Roach Motel of the danger in crossing over.
I am reminded of the above scene when I think of Rev. Fr. Roy Kaduppil who is saying good-bye to the parishioners of Chicago today for the last time. From what he has said to those to whom he already bid good-bye, it is certain that he is leaving for good. History will confirm that Fr. Sajy was on the right side of history since he went out from St. Alphonsa Church in Coppell as a martyr for the Crucifix. On the other hand, Rev. Fr. Roy has carved out for himself a place on the wrong side of history since he sided with the Mar Thoma Cross. While the fates of these two priests have been sealed once for all by their stance on the Crucifix, next in line stands Bishop Mar Angadiath peeking in, the sealing of his fate being only moments away.
Figuratively speaking, the question that is haunting him day and night is whether to check into the Roach Motel or not, by taking the next step that will sink his legs deep into the glue. If he does not take his cue from Fr. Roy, the latest victim of the Mar Thoma Cross Idol, he is likely to seal his fate soon. He will be becoming Victim No. 3 of the Mar Thoma Cross Tragedy. The advertisement for the Roach Motel was: “Where Roaches Check In, But they Cannot Check Out.” Once a victim crosses the Line of No Return as Fr. Roy did only a few days ago, his fate is sealed. And he can never check out as Fr. Roy finally but sadly found out.

Will His Excellency the Bishop repeat the same mistake that Rev. Fr. Roy just made? Will he also fall victim to the Mar Thoma Mania which he himself has stirred up within the Syro-Malabar Community in the U.S.? We just have to wait and find out. When I was growing up, I was once bitten by a poisonous spider rather commonly found in Kerala. A famous poison doctor treated me and saved my life from the poison. Just a few days later, I read in a local newspaper that he died from the bite of one of his own cobras which he raised as a pet and also to gather venom to prepare medicines he used to save others who got bitten by snakes. It was tragic indeed to read about the doctor who saved my life.
It would be more tragic to read in this Blog and elsewhere that His Excellency Mar Angadiath and his Diocese became victim number 3 and 4 in the long saga of the Mar Thoma Cross Tragedy currently plaguing the Chicago Syro-Malabar Diocese. These are sober thoughts that our Bishop would do well in pondering over as he is standing at the threshold of the Roach Motel, only inches away from crossing by not delivering to the people of Garland what he promised them in Coppell. To some of you these repeated warnings may be starting to sound a little like a paper tiger. We are delaying the lawsuit not because we don’t mean it but because we love our Bishop and our Diocese so much that we want to do it only as a last resort. Because we hate to see go up in smoke what we have worked for so very hard over the years. Therefore, dear Bishop, please give it every thought before you force us into the legal action by your continued inaction in Garland. We take absolutely no pleasure in seeing you as victim no. 3 following the footsteps of Fr. Roy Kaduppil.
In the meantime, Bon Voyage, Fr. Roy. We love you and what you and our Bishop do except when you try to take down our Crucifix. Reason: We love our Savior so much that we will never let anyone touch His Cross either now or never ever, no matter what!

While every religion prospers why our SMC-Chicago is lagging behind, there is something seriously wrong with SMC-Chicago diocese. Their motto is not for proclaiming Jesus; their main agenda is to impose the Manichean pagan heresy and they use Catholic Church resources for that hidden agenda.
If you are really a good journalist belongs to the Indian Catholic community pelase publish a report in all Indian news media and prove your credentials. You have enough materials from this blog and you might have witnessed, learned and heard enough about the sufferings of the American Syro Malabar Catholics by this time.
I am a catholic, for me Mar-thoma-cross and VIRI are pegan, lifeless idol equivalence and not supposed to be in any Catholic Altar.
