അച്ഛാ, ഞങ്ങള്‍ വളരെ കഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടാണ് ഈ രാജ്യത്തു ജീവിക്കുന്നത് . ഭാര്യയും ഭര്‍ത്താവും അവധിയായി കൂടെ ഉള്ള ദിവസങ്ങള്‍ പലപ്പോഴും വിരലില്‍ എണ്ണാവുന്ന ദിവസങ്ങളെ ഉള്ളു . അന്നിട്ടും ഞങ്ങള്‍ ഞങ്ങളുടെ കുടുംബവും ആയി പള്ളിയില്‍ വരുന്നില്ലേ , അത് നമ്മുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ ഓര്‍ത്തും, കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള്‍ നമ്മുടെ സമുദായ പാരമ്പര്യം കണ്ടു മനസ്സിലാക്കണമെന്നും , നല്ല കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളായി വളരനമെന്നോര്തും തന്നെ. അച്ഛന് പറഞ്ഞയിരുന്നല്ലോ വളരെകുറച്ച് കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ 8.30 കുര്‍ബാനയ്ക്ക് വന്നുള്ളന്നു. ശരിയാ , അത് മടികൊണ്ടോന്നുമല്ല . നിവൃത്തികേട് കൊണ്ട് തന്ന്യാ പലരും രാവിലെ എത്താതിരുന്നത്‌. കാരണം പല കുഞ്ഞുജള്‍ക്കും തലേ ദിവസം വളരെ വൈകിയിട്ട് വരെ Rehearsal ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നാണു അറിയാന്‍ സാധിച്ചത്.
പിന്നെ കുട്ടികള്‍ മറ്റുള്ള പള്ളിയില്‍ പോയിട്ട് ഇവിടെ CCD യ്ക് വരാന്‍ പാടില്ലയെന്നു അച്ഛന് പറഞ്ഞല്ലോ, അതെന്തൊരു ന്യായം. നമ്മുടെ പള്ളിക്ക് പാര്‍ക്കിംഗ് എന്ന് പറയുന്നത് ഒന്നില്ല . ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് പാര്‍ക്കിംഗ് ടിക്കറ്റ്‌ കിട്ടിയാല്‍ പള്ളി അത് pay ചെയ്യാമെങ്കില്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ കുട്ടികളെ മുഴുവന്‍ കുര്‍ബനക്കും കൊണ്ടുവരാം . അച്ചോ, ഞങ്ങള്‍ വളരെ സാധാരണ ആള്‍ക്കാരാണ് ബഹുഭൂരിപക്ഷവും . നേഴ്സ് , respiratory , അതുമല്ലെങ്ങില്‍ സിറ്റി ജോലി, ലാബ്‌ ടെക് ആയി ചെയ്യുന്നവര്‍ , ഫാക്ടറി ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നവര്‍ , ഗ്യാസ് സ്റ്റേഷന്‍ നില്‍ ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നവര്‍ ഒക്കെ തന്നെ. വളരെ കുറച്ചേ പണക്കാര്‍ നമ്മുടെ പള്ളിയില്‍ വരുന്നവരുള്ളൂ . അവരൊക്കെ അച്ഛന്റെയും , ബിഷപ്പ് ന്റെയും ചുറ്റും ഉണ്ട് . അവരില്‍ നിന്നും മാത്രമേ അച്ചന്മാര്‍ക്ക് feedback കിട്ടുന്നുള്ളൂ. പണക്കാര്‍ ആകട്ടെ അച്ചന്മാര്‍ക്ക് സ്തുതി പാടി മനം മയക്കി നടക്കുകയാണ് .
നമ്മുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ ഇഷ്ടമായ രീതിയില്‍ എന്തെങ്ങിലും നമ്മുടെ പള്ളിയില്‍ നടക്കുന്നുണ്ടോ. ഒന്നും ഇല്ല. കുറെ കുഞ്ഞച്ചന്‍ മാരുടെ ആളുകളി കാണാന്‍ അല്ലെങ്ങില്‍ കാര്‍ന്നോന്മാരുടെ കുട്ടിക്കളി കാണാന്‍ എന്താണ് കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ താല്പര്യം? അവര്‍ നമ്മുടെ പള്ളിയെ വെറുത്താല്‍ ഭാവിയില്‍ ആര് mortgage അടക്കും , utility ബില്‍ അടക്കും . ഇന്നേക്ക് പത്തു പതിനഞ്ചു വര്‍ഷത്തിനകം ഇങ്ങോട്ടുള്ള immigration തീരും . കാരണം നാട്ടില്‍ നല്ല അവസരങ്ങള്‍ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു .
നമുക്ക് ഇപ്പോള്‍ ചെയ്യാവുന്നത്:
- കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള്‍ക് താല്പര്യമുള്ള കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ പള്ളിയില്‍ നടപ്പിലാക്കുക,
- വേണമെങ്ങില്‍ ഒരു പള്ളി കൂടി rent ചെയ്തു തിരക്ക് കുറയ്ക്കുക.
- ഞായറാഴ്ചത്തെ ഒരു കുര്‍ബാനയും CCD യും ശനിയാഴ്ച ആക്കുക .
- അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ syromalabar ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് കുര്‍ബാന latin ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് കുര്‍ബാന ആക്കുക . ( അത് നടത്താന്‍ ഒരിക്കലും ബിഷപ്‌ സമ്മതിക്കില്ല എന്നറിയാം)
- കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ മറ്റുള്ള കുട്ടികളും ആയി സംസാരിക്കാന്‍ അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ ഇട പഴുകുവാന്‍ അവസരം കൊടുക്കുക .( അല്ലെങ്ങില്‍ വല്ലേ കറമ്പന്റെയും , വെളുമ്പന്‍റെയും മെക്സിക്കത്തിയുടെയും കൂടെ പോകും ) നമ്മള്‍കെ പോകനുള്ളൂ അച്ഛന്മാര്ക് കുട്ടികള്‍ ഇല്ലല്ലോ.
- എട്ടുമണിയുടെ കുര്‍ബാന ഏഴുമണിക്ക് ആക്കുക അപ്പോള്‍ കുര്‍ബാനയുടെ ഇടയിലുള്ള ഗാപ്‌ കൂടിക്കിട്ടും.
- കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് ഗെയിംസ് and other activities promote ചെയ്യുക .
ഇതൊക്കെ മുന്‍കൂട്ടി കണ്ടു കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ ചെയ്തില്ലെങ്ങില്‍ നമ്മുള്‍ക്ക് Cathedral പള്ളി യ്ക് bankruptcy ഫയല്‍ ചെയ്യേണ്ടി വന്നെന്നിരിക്കും.
ഒന്നോര്‍ത്തു നോക്കുക എത്ര കോളേജ് students നമ്മുടെ പള്ളിയില്‍ വരുന്നുണ്ടെന്നും വരാന്‍ താല്പര്യം കാണിക്കുന്നെന്നും. കാരണം അവര്‍ക്ക് interesting ആയിട്ട് പള്ളിയില്‍ കുര്‍ബനയല്ലാതെ ഒന്നുമില്ല.

If you do a survey among kids , you will understand which Mass the kids like. Latin Mass or our Syromalabar mass. !! Kids need something which will go with their Culture and lifestyle!! Several Kids told me that they like Latin mass because "The Priests mean what they say". This could also be the Culture and Communication Gaps and the Politics they see in our Church. Parking issues also go with these discussions.

Where are the donations given to our Bishop get accounted?
If you notice many of our churches lavishly contribute to Bishop for each and every occasion. In Chicago alone, each year for Holy Communion and other events, people contribute $750 each. Many other private events the unofficial gift to Bishop is around $300.00.
Where these above noted contributions are goes?
Are they getting accounted against Bishop’s house or Is it Bishop’s savings? A very hard question to answer.. Ha.?
Our Achans also get paid around $100 or above for each private events other than their 32K salary. For a car blessing alone the cost is around $100. Though it’s not been asked, the fact is it’s expected. I wish one of this priests come forward and make an announcement like – He will not expect any money for Car Blessing, House Blessing etc.. I guess my wish will be a wish ONLY.
In Chicago the new asst vicar is already famous for his ideal approaches. I bet he does not have the deepest guts to make any such brave moves. Preaching is Easy but Dollar is Tempting.
I feel ashamed to write this. But there are simple things which keep on alerting me or questioning the credibility of our leaders. Nowadays several people struggling to make $10/Hour and it’s really hard to explain. And I truly wish these “Must Pay” amount to our church leaders ought to have an end.
I wish Syro Malabar Voice will bring this issue as a known issue and address with it’s own priority. It’s becoming a fact that the oice of this Blog becomes a VOICE itself. People are speaking and People are listening. A simple common movement MUST open the eyes of our leaders to stop this nonsense.
Let our Mar Excellency Bishop stop accepting money for the blessing of the Parish, Blessing the Holy Communion etc. This are part of his duties. If it’s a private event, it may be justifiable. But faith related events…. People Stop Paying – Initiate Protesting and Keep Praying.

It's truly opens the facts about our life and it throw some very valid questions, which must have to be addressed.
Fr Shasseri (Aniyan Fr) is a young priest and he is pretty good. However his blood is getting boiled because he desperately wanted to make our kids like Syro Super Heroes. Acha, I like my kid obeying and being in the church with other activities too. But coming to the church itself is a $17 gas bill. Hellwood is pretty far for most of us. A word about Fr Antony (Chettan Fr)
Fr Antony is a good priest and I like him. But the part I don't like in him is he keep all his angers burst out even when he is in the alter. How can he be continue doing when Jesus said, Forgive others then You will be Forgiven. So Fr Antony, it's time you have to do some Anger Management Course. Remember you are representing Jesus and we don't like you being Jesus where you are like Judas.
I agree 100% with the post. We couldn't come to 8:30 mass because we are super tired from the rehearsal the day before.We spend all day from 10:00-8:30 Saturday and 1/2 day Sunday.I feel the achans have no clues about normal people's life in America. Fr. Mathew Sasseril has been here only a few months and within these few months of his "service" here, he has earned a lot of bad reputation. Most people say he is arrogant and out of touch with us ordinary people. Most of his associations are with the few "affluent and influential" folks.
Look at the car he drives: A red BMW. How many in the Zero community drives a BMW? This car might be a loan to him for temporary use. However, this car must have been given to him by some "so called rich" gas station guy. I bet whoever gave him this car would have done so, for some future "gains" - may be a position in the Zero church. Any way the point is, he should not have accepted this gift since, a BMW is a symbol of status.
Last couple of sumdays, I spent some time listening to conversations of people in the basement- mostly it was about Sasseril.
He is immature, arrogant and lacks the willingness to understand this community. The way he talks, sounds like he will be in the cathedral for ever. We are doomed!!

I do not think that Fr Mathew has a bad reputation. He is wise, knowledgeable, intelligent and has great wisdom ,yet very humble.
He has a reputation of not accepting gift/fee for blessing houses when he goes to apartments and low income people.
He wants us and our kids to grow up in Gods love.If he wanted to be in this Cathedral for ever, he would not point put the wrongs of his parish. He works so hard for our kids, for example "Faith Fest". He launched faith fest " he must have put so much energy in it" and kids loved it. Fr Mathew can just sit back and relax and lead a easy life. He really does care for us and our kids. He is aware of most family problems running in his parish and does not want it to happen in our children's lives.
Request to all Anonymous writers is "lets humble and bow our heads in front of God, lets treat priests with more respect. They are called by God and part of their job is to teach us good and point the wrong" lets not get offensive, lets be willing to accept their advise. You know some priests in Chicago Cathedral who became priests after they came to the Cathedral?
If you see a dog chewing on a bone and then chocking on it, and you know dogs chew on bones, does all dogs chock on bones?
Ordinary people can own BMW if they can afford it. Very few people, especially Malayalis, buy BMW to sqeel the wheels and burn rubber. What is true is, almost all Malayalis who buy BMW do so to show off.
So, you are saying Sasseril is from a show off family (vanity), and Fr. Sasseril himself is a very much into showing off. In my opinion that is not a good character for priest.
I do think that ഫാ. ശാശ്ശേരി has a bad reputation.
He is unwise, no knowledge, unintelligent and has no wisdom , yet not humble and have s luxurious life .
He has a reputation of accepting gift/fee for blessing houses when he goes to even apartments and low income people.
He don't wants us and our kids to grow up in Gods love.If he wanted to be in this Cathedral for ever, he would point the wrongs of his parish.
He works hardly for our kids, for example "Faith Fest". He launched faith fest " some one else must have put so much energy in it" and some rich kids loved it.
Fr Mathew can sit back and relax and lead a easy life. He really does not care for us and our kids. He is not aware of most family problems running in his parish and does not want our children.
Fr. Sasseryl could perform the 9th miracle; however he could not justify a pegan cross in our cathedral church. The church needs to be holy; however our cathedral church is the ugliest one. I hope he will do something to cleanse our cathedral, and he needs to start it from the Altar itself. Remove the claver cross, the claver thamburan and their coolies from the SMC-administration first.
You are asking Sasseril to remove claver cross? How funny. That is like leaving a thief in charge of the bank. Sasseril will change his allegiance for his benefit. If Powethil says he will make sasseril the next bishop in return for installing claver cross in every syro church, then sasseril will do so.

Earlier you told someone that they should have went to school when their parents sent them to school (instead of wandering around).
Looks like you were wandering around gas stations when your parents sent you to school. If you have gone to school, may be you would have learned to spell better than you do now.

Respected Fr. Shasherri 'Koch'acha, Fr. Antony 'Vali'acha
In the last Sunday mass speech, Fr Antony was asking people to send 10% of your savings (After all expenses, whatever you are left with) to church. And he was openly cursing and threatening people for not doing so.
Comment: Acha, we all contribute 10% or more. We work very hard and we offer more than 10% of our final savings to church. Frankly, most of us do not even have a saving and we still offer and give thousands to “Church”. So if we look into our savings alone, we are probably in the 50% category.
Fr Antony was saying, he sent his 10% of his allowed income, which is equivalent to $65 per month was send to some institution. Are you dare to offer or rather contribute your extra income to the church fund, which you gain via appearing in BDay parties, blessing occasions etc?
I really want to thank you and congratulate you for the efforts you put together to build a beautiful church. Indeed the church is beautiful. A promised 4.5 Million Church completed with a cost of 9.6 Million Dollars. Wow.. It’s better to be beautiful…
It’s you, and you are very much part of the whole blame of our current situation. You promised a 4.5 Million Church and we were witnessed to that. And in the end, you built us a church with an excess baggage of 5.5 Million Dollars on top of the promised 4.5 Million Dollars. Your so called supporters helped you built this “UnNcessary” luxuries. You bought the nearby properties for huge premium and they are irrecoverable money wastage and your foolishness caused a lots of money to the community.
Part 2. (Please see the part 1 )
Fr Antony’s (Head of construction committee) Foolishness in Syro Malabar Chicago.
1. Construction Committee wanted Granite in the church. Acha, there is only 10% of the church is walkable and you needed granite ONLY in the place where people walk. Instead you and the construction fundas put granite everywhere. An unnecessary spending for 500K or more.
2. The office building upstairs – There was NO NEED of a second floor altogether. Not even 2% of the people get the benefit from these upstairs offices. I would you’ve put another 2 Million for the second floor and it’s infrastructure. Why was these money spent unwisely?
3. The Basement – A NO USE 16000 Sqft luxury. It must have coasted us another 1.75 Million dollars to have the current basement built. The 1.75 Million for “Making people socialize or selling “Bonda and Coffee”. We needed only the old church for socialization. But under your guidance we spent another 1.75 Million or more.
4. The “Stained Glasses” – Please DO NOT EVER say stain glasses. The glasses in our church are plastered glasses over a picture. They ARE NOT stained glasses. If you want to see stained glasses, please go look at St Jude Church.
5. You made us purchased land and houses near to the church saying you needed a place to stay. But you never did. You are still living in the old place. Another spending of 300K plus.
6. You wanted the Doms on the top of our church. Not one dome – There are three domes. I am sure many of our people don’t even know there are three domes because nobody can even see them. What an architectural beauty? People can’t even see them. Another lavish unnecessary spending of 600K may be for this custom round domes' architecture.
With the above listed things itself, you caused Syro Malabar a lot of money (Close to 5 Million) where you could have done a better job if you were brave enough to take your own decisions.
Now.. Instead of cursing the public for not receiving money, perhaps follow the below suggestions and who knows, people will get jobs and they will start contributing more.
Part 3. ( Pl see Part 1 and Part 2)
1. Pray for the people who have lost the jobs. Instead of the priests’ prayer that’s more appropriate and relevant.
2. Ask Bishop to sell his 2.2 Million house and buy a house for .5 Million. You can use that 1.7 Million for many other important things.
3. It coasted Syro Malabar Church 30K or more to install the round Sheela in our church. Remove the “Sheela” from our church and sell it for 25K.
4. Put the other money which you and other priests earn via blessing etc. According to your last speech you are allowed to get only $650 per month for your personal usage. It will be awesome if you can keep the extra income towards our church fund rather than cursing the public. Please be a model before you start cursing others. The same statement applicable to Fr Shasseri too. If you are from a well to do family, please take a minimum of 5K membership to a Max of 1 Million in our Syro Malabar church that way, Fr Antony will save some energy after the mass. He is so tired of all these cursed every week.
To both of you priests,
I agree with you on the discipline, which you are trying to implement in our church. It’s good and needed. Kudos on that part. So far Fr Shasseri is awesome in that part. He does a great job with kids. I must admit that.
We do not have any problem you are driving BMW or other luxury cars. (I am not sure Fr Sasseri drives a BMW. If not I am sorry.) May be Priesthood is no more a symbol of simplicity anymore. And if you have rich relatives, you can very well own any type of cars or any type of life. Unfortunately, many of the people do not have relatives like you priests.
Please understand one thing. When you drive BMW, we also have the desire to drive Benz and BMWs too. And if we do so, we will NOT have any money to contribute to church.
So I wish all readers more energy and blessings to make more money and that way we can contribute more to our church. The church is for us and our kids. And I am all for a better future for our kids.
The above is constructive criticism and there could be some part which may not be 100% right. Take the best out of it and make use of it. Jesus the Lord, please bless us all

There was an incident where one of the Syro Malabar Priest (Priest in CA who wanted to impress our Angadiath Bishop) openly wrote an article with Ernakulum Diocese web site about Fr Sajie Chakkittamurial's departure from Koppel to airport in a Limousine. If an American priest write a Limousine journey as a Priest’s Crime, I would say why ordinary people find it’s unusual that a priest is driving a BMW.
I am not sure if you are driving a BMW. It could be a wild accusation. Either way you are Gold.
Personally, I want you to drive whatever you like. By all means, you have the right and you should. But the public is different and I just gave the above paragraph as a very fine example.
I also like you to contribute a minimum of 5K as our membership since an uneducated, Mallu like me did the same.
So drive safe. Have a Nice Journey in Syro Malabar Chicago :) All the best with your efforts and I hope you will not be discouraged with all these simple accusations.

Dear Vicar and Fr. Sasseryl,
We want our priests to have a very peaceful life in all places. Whether they drive on BMW/Benz/ Lamborghini /elephant top or even by naked nobody cares now. Let them enjoy the luxury of this country. HOWEVER THEY (YOU) SHOULD NOT DEVIATE FROM THE FOCAL POINT AND SHOULD NOT MISUSE THE FAITHFUL. You are worshiping the creations above the creator.
WE SHOULD NOT HAVE A PEGAN CROSS IN OUR CHURCHES. THE CATHEDRAL SETUP DEPICTS THE CROOKEDNESS AND LACK OF FAITH OF MAR. ANGADIATH AND OF HIS BIASED PRIEST. All the pegan idols need to be removed form the church, and then only you all get peace of mind. I heard that last Sunday, there was a special SMCC meeting at the Bellwood cathedral, and the SMCC was dissolved. The Vicar and the Assistant Vicar used their super power and suspended/banned the SMCC president from joining any committees.
THIS ACTION WAS REALLY BAD.
I don't think the SMCC pesident did anything against the church. What happened? Can anyone comment?

Father, with strong disappointments I am writing this. Father, it’s time to STOP your cursing at the altar. Father, It’s NOT the first time you are doing the curses. Father, you do the curses almost every Sunday. Father, if you have anger toward an individual you revert that anger to almost all the people in the church. FATHER PLEASE STOP THIS BAD BEHAVIOUR.

We spend 9.6 Million Dollars on the Hellwood Church where Fr Antony promised to deliver the church with 4.5 Million. I WAS there in the meeting. I don’t want to go into church’s construction fiascos again. It’s another big story to write here and I cannot stop if I start writing all the blunders you did along with your monkey team.

WE WANT OUR CRUCIFIX BACK IN ALL CHURCHES. If the bishop hates crucifix, then it is time for him to leave the Catholic Church. However we need to pray for our Bishop Angadiath for his return to the Catholic Church. He is now under the control of some Satanic Cult.
