Children of the Mar Thoma Cross: I Call Them ‘കാലുകള്‍ ചത്തുമരവിച്ച തവളകള്‍’, God Calls Them ‘Losers’

This is in response to the following comment from David Mathukutty to my article: “ക്ലാവര്‍ കുരിശിന്റെ മക്കള്‍ : കാലുകള്‍ … തവളകള്‍”. 

I challenge you to single out any Bible verse or commandment of Jesus to have crucifix in church or anywhere else. No, you can’t. What you do is adulterate the Word of God (2Cori 2:17).”

I feel that the point raised by Mathukutty is an important one and there may be many who feel the same way. So I am addressing this issue here. In Tit. 1:15-16 we read: “To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.”

In the light of this passage, let us compare two segments of the Catholic Church, the one which is most devoted to the Crucifix and the one that is most opposed to the Crucifix, namely the Latin Catholics and the Syro-Malabar Catholics. In both cases, the Holy Mass is the same, Holy Communion is the same and everything else is pretty much the same. The only major difference is: one is deeply devoted to the Crucifix and the other is deeply devoted to the Mar Thoma Cross or the Manichean Cross. However, the result is profound: the Latin Catholics are united, peaceful, disciplined, devoted to all branches of Catholic Ministry, experiences more unity between the faithful and the hierarchy, etc. On the other hand, the Syro-Malabar Church is divided, fierce fighting continues between the group that loves and promotes the crucifix and the group that loves and promotes the Mar Thoma Cross, experiences division between the faithful and the hierarchy, etc. – the list goes on.

Now people who are biased like Mathukutty might disagree with what I am saying by saying the cross is not the issue. I am saying that it is the main issue. My arguments to support my case: let us make a couple more comparisons. Let us compare the condition of the Syro-Malabar Church before and after the time Bishop Powathil started pushing the Mar Thoma Cross on the faithful. Before this happened, there was peace, harmony, growth and holiness in the Syro-Malabar Church that produced holy men like St. Alphonsa, Chavara Kuriakose Eliasachan, etc. But now the prominent men in the Syro-Malabar Church are not famous for their holiness but for ‘heroic acts’ like extorting property from the siblings of bishops under the pretext of donating it to a retreat center as it happened in Kanjirapally, running brothel houses in Italy as we have read in the article: ഇറ്റലിയില്‍ പഞ്ചനക്ഷത്ര വേശ്യാലയം, mixing Sulfuric Acid in the wine used for Holy Mass for a Bishop because he supports the Crucifix as it happened to Thrissur Bishop Thoomkuzhy, etc.

Let us see one more comparison. Here let us compare two dioceses within the Syro-Malabar Church. On the one side, let us compare the St. Thomas Catholic Diocese of Chicago where there is maximum push for marketing and promoting the Mar Thoma Cross or the Manichean cross. On the other side, let us put any other diocese in the entire Syro-Malabar Church where the push is much less than within the Syro-Malabar Diocese of Chicago. Anybody in the Chicago Syro-Malabar Diocese will agree that there is much more fighting, corruption, lawsuits, expulsion of priests for not obeying the Bishop’s orders for pushing the Claver Cross, disunity, installation of surveillance cameras, accusations of corruption, back-stabbing of priests, perjuries committed in the name of promoting the Mar Thoma Cross, designing sanctuaries in the dark of the night so that the Mar Thoma Cross can be installed there behind the backs of the parishioners as it has been done in the Cathedral Church in Chicago, IL and in St. Thomas The Apostle Syro-Malabar Church in Garland, TX, etc.

Now let us draw some connections between what is happening in our Syro-Malabar Church today and the passage above (Tit. 1:15-16). The passage says that those who are impure do not consider any of the verses in the word of God pure even though in many places in the Bible it states that the Word of God is even purer than silver refined 7 times (7 is a complete number in the Bible) and purer than the most refined gold. In Jn. 3:14 Jesus asks us to “raise the Son of Man as Moses raised the bronze serpent in the desert so that everyone who believes in Him (and His Crucifix) may have eternal life”. But to the impure this command as well as any other verse in the Bible is not pure nor worthy of belief. The passage also states what happens to such ‘believers’ who cannot accept the Word of God as being pure and worthy of their obedience. They become corrupted, detestable, disobedient (thus they disobey the Pope who says in the strongest language that the crucifix should not be removed from the altar even an inch to the right or to the left of the altar) and unfit for doing anything good.

Now we know the reason why we don’t see holy men and why we see just the opposite in today’s Syro-Malabar Church. In my article I compared the children of the Mar Thoma Cross to കാലുകള്‍ ചത്തുമരവിച്ച വെറും തവളകള്‍. People like Mathukutty may not like me making such a comparison. But according to our passage above, the Word of God says that such people are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. In other words, God says that they are ‘losers’. Many may think that I have been unkind to the children of the Mar Thoma Cross when I called them കാലുകള്‍ ചത്തുമരവിച്ച വെറും തവളകള്‍. But the Word of God in this case describes them as “detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good”. In other words God calls the children of the Mar Thoma Cross ‘losers’. Now it is not hard to figure out where those whom God calls ‘losers’ will spend their eternity. And that is why I am not willing to lay down my weapons never ever when it comes to fighting for the Crucifix. I hate to see Satan having them for supper every day for all eternity. Liberating them from Satan is what the battle for the Crucifix is all about.

ഫാ.പുതുമന കയറ്റി അയക്കുന്ന പെണ്‍കുട്ടികള്‍ ഏതെല്ലാം നക്ഷത്രക്ലബ്ബുകളിലാണ് ചെന്നു ചാടുന്നുതെന്ന് അന്വേഷിക്കേണ്ടതു സഭാധികാരികളടേയും സര്‍ക്കാറിന്റെയും ചുമതലയാണ്.

സഭയിലെ വൈദികര്‍ നടത്തുന്ന അനാശാസ്യപ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുവാന്‍ ധൈര്യം കാണിച്ച സീറോമലബാര്‍ വോയസിനെ അഭിനന്ദിക്കുന്നു.

ബ്ലോഗിനെ വെറുതെ തെറിപറഞ്ഞിട്ടു കാര്യമില്ലാ. ബ്ലോഗ് എഴുതിയ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ തെറ്റാണെങ്കില്‍ അവര്‍ തിരുത്തുവാന്‍ കടപ്പെട്ടവരാണ്.

Kottayam Archdiocese to sue CBI

Kottayam Archdiocese has said it will file a defamation case against the CBI for its alleged move to defame Mar Kuriakose Kunnassery, the first Bishop of the Archeparchy.

The Archeparchy issued a release in the backdrop of media reports, quoting a CBI submission in court that Mar Kunnassery had close ties with a nun, who was a Hindi lecturer at BCM College.

The CBI affidavit objected to the removal of names of the accused in the Sister Abhaya murder case. The CBI had relied on a statement by ex-nun Thressiamma, a witness in the case.

The Archeparchy said the CBI charge was baseless. There was never a Sister Lousy in BCM College or Pious Tenth Convent.The Archeparchy suspected that the CBI was cooking up charges after an expert committee found that the narco analysis tape was a fake one.

Thressiamma on Tues-day alleged that a bishop had an illicit relationship with Sr Lousy. She alleged that when the former principal of the BCM College, Sr Savio, resented the Bishop's ways, she was forced to take voluntary retirement. She also alleged that Fr Thomas Kottoor, Fr Jose Puthri-kayil and Sr Steffy were behind the nun's murder.

പണ്ട് പണ്ട് ഞാന്‍ ധാരാളം തവണ രാത്രികളില്‍ തവള പിടിക്കാന്‍ ചൂട്ടും കത്തിച്ചു പിടിച്ചു പോയിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന് ഏറ്റു പറയുന്നു. തവള തുട എണ്ണയില്‍ ഉള്ളിയും അല്‍പ്പം മുളകും ചേര്‍ത്തു അങ്ങ് പൊരിച്ചെടുത്താല്‍ എന്താ കുഴപ്പം? സീറോമലബാര്‍ മെത്രാന്മാര്‍ക്കും ചില അച്ചന്മാര്‍ക്കും ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട തവളക്കാല്‍ ലേലം വിളിച്ചു കൊടുക്കണം എന്ന് കൊപ്പളിലെ മുളകുപോലെ എരിവുള്ള ചേച്ചിമാര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. എന്തായാലും തവളക്കാല്‍ മാര്‍ക്കറ്റു ഉയരുന്നത് ആശ്വാസകരം.
