The Sins of Fathers

A certain smart-ass made a comment that the Voice does not get any attention and nobody cares about the Voice anymore, or something to that effect.

Let us make this clear. We just put our thoughts and beliefs into words. We do not do this expecting anybody's comments. We are not that childish. But at the same time anybody and everybody has the opportunity to comment on them if he or she thinks it worthwhile. Both positive and negative. If you have nothing to say, just shut-up and read. Or don't read. It's that simple

But a certain fact we have to state. We have noticed from our experience of publishing this blog for about 2 years, how lethargic and cowardly our people are. They have opinions, but are too petrified of the religious authorities to express them openly. They are plain scared to open their mouth. This abject cowardice from the part of the laity is being splendidly exploited by the clergy for their own personal advantage. For this we cannot blame them. That is precisely what they are trained for.

For example take last Sunday's sermon. The sins of the fathers. The vicar says God will punish the children of the children of the children of a sinner up to seven generations! Seven generations, you hear?

What kind of cruel and pitiless god is this that punishes innocent children? I have heard of Kerala Police and the Mafia harassing and hurting the families of people they are looking for, but are unable to catch. So we would like to ask the vicar: what happened to the God most merciful, kind, loving, so loving that He gave his life to atone for our sins? Where is He? Or which God is that? Or are there two gods? One good and the other bad?

Now we know the little trick of the priests: when they want to scare and keep the faithful under control, they talk about an angry, vengeful and unforgiving God, who will punish you with eternal hell. When they want to butter you, they talk about a loving, kind and merciful God.

In short these clergy is abusing God every which way for their own gain!

He is so wrong on his message. God will punish him in a way that all of us can see, for his misuse of god the almighty. He is betraying his own god by his wrong teachings.

Dear Syro Malabar Voice,

If you complain about so many problems about syro-malabar why do you still go there?

I am faithful.

He is wrong. The Chicago Syro Church Malabar church is a black mark of the celebrated Indian Syro Catholic.

The Vicar like priests gets on in to USA for their own benefits and still spiritually looting the faithful. They knew that they can bark anything in front of the Alter. Before the lent season church needs encourage people in faith instead they spiritually draining us. No wonder why we are thinning in India.

St. Paul himself warns us, "Beware lest any man cheat you by philosophy and vain deceit; according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ." Coloss. 2:8.

“ It was by one man's offence that death came to reign over all, but how much greater the reign in life of those who receive the fullness of grace and the gift of saving justice, through the one man, Jesus Christ. One man's offence brought condemnation on all humanity; and one man's good act has brought justification and life to all humanity. Just as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man's obedience are many to be made upright.” Romans. 5:17-19

Let everything which has breath give praise to the Lord. Let the Lord be praised.

I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.

So Guys WATCH OUT. This is not my words this is what Bible tells us.

A very shameful church alters setup!! The Chicago Syro Malabar church is a cult religion because of its external biblical practices in the name of Lord. A religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian. This is what is happening in Bellwood Syro Church. In that cathedral church there is no God experience. Do we have a good alter in that church, we are doomed by devils.

We should not rest until these devils are expelled way through the real cross. We have the power, God is with us. If we could practice and enjoy the Christ experience in our conscious then we are the church that our Lord ordained within each one of us.

The devils are in the cathedral itself.

Dear Syro Malabar Voice,

Why are faithful to "the black mark of the celebrated Indian Syro Catholic?" This doesn't make any sense. Why aren't you doing anything to make a difference? It seems like your just angry all the time

Anonymous said...

Please make difference by advise the Bishop and his fellow Vicar to rearrange the alter of the cathedral in a decent and holy manner. First remove the circus tent and the Bishops purple waste cloth from the church and bring the faithful together.

The Syro Malabar Church in USA brought only division in the society after the new cathedral and forcing pegan belief and practices.

Be a real catholic and be global by maintaining American values and retaining the rich Indian culture then only we are Syros Malabar Catholic of USA.

You creepy folks, if you have so much complaints and so much issues..

Firstly shut your stinging bloody mouth.

Secondly as you suggested, do not pay to the church contribution at all (Why am I not hearing that propogantha anymore). You know the fact that there are more people willing to contribute Hah..

And finally, please do not show your dirty farting butt in the church anymore. Because you are such a shame.

Catholic Church has grown up so far through sufferings and blind beleif. yes it's sometimes you have to obey the bishop and priests though they are not 100% correct in their actions. But you have to consider one thing in mind. One way or other they do that for the Good.

Many things, I don't agree with the church and I know for sure they could have done better. But the fact is that me and you and many of us know only to criticize and blame the church. And we find a lot of happiness in doing so. Instead, start functioning by doing something for the society you sleepy asses.

A True Beleiver.

"The Latin rite follows the Roman liturgy introduced by European missioners in the 15th century, while the two Oriental rites (Syro malabar and Syro Malankara) follow Syrian Church traditions and trace their origins to Saint Thomas the Apostle. Rivalry and misunderstanding often mark their relations."

Can some learned dig and explore the rivalry and misunderstanding of the Syrian Church stated above ?
Does the Syrian Church has roots in nestorians where the priests lead a family Life ?

What do you do in your life? These typings helped people to realize and react to at least some of the atrocities and abuses of syromalabar church.

I am a faithful

This is a faith matter. The so called Nestorian cross, baptized and nicknamed as claver cross and then got entry into mainland China, then nick named as Mar Thoma cross as it entered into Indian sub continent with an alias Manichaen cross. The cross reminds you of the same shapes in all these places.

Please know from history that wherever this pagan cross gets into, then there always the church get rooted out from its original spiritual richness. Syria, Iraq, Iran, China and Tibet are the example of countries where church rooted in the early stages and now almost wiped out. We venerate the same Manichaen cross in our new cathedral also.

In India we could not ever spread the gospel outside of Kerala by our own. Because of the foreign missionary’s efforts and through foreign fund we were able to reach out spiritually and politically in India.

It is time for us clean our church from unholy elements, this is not for anybody’s personal benefits or win. This is a faith matter. Let us pray for the Bishop so that he could understand the seriousness and let the good Lord reveal him to remove the Mani’s cross from the altar.

This is an excerpt from the above link “ Manichaen Cross,' is not to be exhibited at all in churches and altars. ``This was brought to Kerala by Mani himself. Abandoned during sixth century it surfaced as `Marthoma Cross.' “

Church building is in progress in many parts of USA and this story is being repeated all over.

We know why we came to America and why these religious leaders are here. DOLLAR DOLLAR DOLLAR........

Many of the younger generation return these days to India since they believe they can better raise their children and be with their family. Have you noticed these leaders are glued here in America?

If any one believes helping the poor and down trodden is their mission then they wont even come to America in the first place as religious workers!!

Be vocal about this issue and be united. The truth will set you free..

I read a comment about leaders "glued" to America. I am told this guy (who made this comment) along with his children makes use of his parish church's faciliteis, and attends liturgical services led by the pastor every Sunday and other occasions. His children participate in CCD and church choir. He and his family members enjoy hospitality- donuts and coffee, icecream etc. He uses expensive vehicles too. Still he finds fault with the leaders and does not make the expected contribution while all others contribute theirs. Whom does this gentleman think to meet the expenses? Why this hypocarcy? Shame! Shame!

Do you have the courage to speak up with a name if you have any Mr. Anonymous?

Do you pay for my share in the church and pay for my cars?

Is CCD not for the members and their kids? What are you trying to say Mr. Confused?

It is very easy to find the negative sides of our leaders.
I know there are many pastors in Syro-Malabar Church in America who do marvelous things for the new immigrant Malayalee community. The focus of many of the responses in this blog is on the short comings than on the positive contributions. Do you expect a saint in your pastor? If so, you will be disappointed. As a leader of a family can any parent claim that his/her leadership is flawless? Let us encourage our priests with their limitations so that they may be more creative in serving our parishes. I belong to the older geneariton of immigrants. Now I feel envious of the new generation because of the service that they get today. It was only a dream for us when we were young parents. I wish my children, who are grown up now, had this opportunity. In most of the Syro-Malabar parishes parents show greater enthusiasm and take extra pain to send their children to CCD classes and its activites.
Please ask your children Sunday morning' "Which church do you want to go to attend service?"
The spontaneous answer will be, "Syro-Malabar Church." They are utterly nonbiased, and innocent.
Our pastors will become more creative as we encourage them.
If the CCD activities are systematic and organized in a parish, I have no hesitation to say, it is mostly because of the interest and ability of the respective pastor.
Let us be generous enough to give him the credit that is due to him.
Of course without the cooperation of the parishioners nothing can happen. CCD is the greatest service that a pastor can give his parishioners.
There may be short comings in their life. They too are coming from the families like that of ours. They also are born and brought up in a corrupt society of which we too are a part. We should show the greatness to recognize what is good in our priests.
Let us encourage our children to beome good priests. We need good priests from our own families to lead the new generation.
Let us take this challenge.

Anonymous Ji,

You are trying to say that everyone else is trying to find fault with the priests?

We all know the benefits of having a regular CCD classes for our kids. Everything you wrote is obvious and we all know that. You call debating is finding fault with your priest?

I know you avoid debate in your house and that's great. In other words you don't want to mess with you wife and loose!

If you are such a devoted person to your priest and have good intentions, please say who you are. And write with your name attached. Then people will listen to you. What is your profession on week days?

Are you the one lied, attacked me on this blog and said no one is taking this blog seriously?

I bet you are that person.

We have many people like you and that is why we need blogs like this.

If you attack some one and try to be anonymous , we can track you and it is not going to be fun after that.

Be careful.

A game has always a set of rules.
The players who engage in it should know it beforehand. They have to play the game accoringly.
Let us imagine this blog is a game. This too has certain rules. One of the ruels is that if the respondant wants, he/she can remain anomymous.
All those who contribute to this blog believe that blog master will stick to its rules. This being the discipline if one of the contributors is seeking the identity of other respondants and challenges them to reveal it, it is not a sign of sportsmanship. We have to respect others' right and follow the rules while playing the game.

Edakkara said...

This is not a game. This blog is serious and if you have any sense of humor, that's fine.

You call it a "game" and if you don't know it; you are playing with the lives of your devotees and the children of SMC. You will "reap what you sow"

I agree with you. Many times the spiritual leaders play the elder brother of the prodigal son. If the prodigal son went to his elder brother instead of going to his own father the elder brother of the prodigal son would have chased him to the drainage and hell instead of back into the Father's house. So everyone go to the Heavenly Father, the Father will accept you, no matter what sins you have done. I ask the spiritual leaders and everyone else read 1 JOHN 1:9 and get justified and purified. Another way of prodigal son would have done. MAY GO BLESS EVERYONE. HALLELUJAH............

In the response that I made in this blog a few days ago (glued to America) I mentioned that the contribution that this person making to his/her parish was less than expected. Church officials say the information I got was pseudo. Now he/she is upto the expectation, and this person and family are active in the parish. I am extremely sorry, and do apologize.
I am anonymous since I have the option to be anonymous in this debate.I wish all the contributors show consistency in making use of this option given by the blog master.

pseudo- (from Greek ψευδής "lying, false") is used to mark something as false, fraudulent, or pretending to be something it is not.
