മി. ടോം വര്‍ക്കി നയിക്കുന്ന ജീസസ് ആര്‍മി സീറോ മലബാര്‍ സഭാ ആസ്ഥാനത്തിനു മുമ്പില്‍ മാര്‍ അങ്ങാടിയത്തിനെതിരെ നടത്തിയ പ്രതിഷേധ പ്രകടനത്തെപ്പറ്റി ചില മാന്യ വായനക്കാര്‍ എഴുതിയ കമ്മെന്റുകളെപ്പറ്റിയാണ് പറയുന്നത്, ചിലര്‍ ചോദിച്ചു: എന്തുകൊണ്ട് പ്രകടനത്തില്‍ ചെറുപ്പക്കാന്‍ മാത്രം? മറ്റ് ചിലര്‍ ചോദിച്ചു: എന്തുകൊണ്ട് അവര്‍ താലിബാന്‍ കാരെപ്പോലെ മുഖം മറച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു? പത്തിരുപത്തഞ്ചച്ചന്മാര് സന്നിഹിതരായിരുന്നു എന്ന സത്യം ഉള്‍ക്കൊള്ളാന്‍ കഴിയാത്ത ചില അല്‍പ്പവിശ്വാസികള്‍ ചോദിച്ചു: അച്ചന്മാര്‍ നില്‍ക്കുന്ന ഒരു ഫോട്ടോ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കാമോ?
എന്തെങ്കിലും അര്‍ത്ഥമുള്ള ചോദ്യങ്ങളാണോ ഇതൊക്കെ? പത്തു നാനൂറു ജീസസ് ആര്‍മി യുവാക്കളെ മി. ടോം വര്‍ക്കി കേരളത്തിലേക്ക് കെട്ടിചുമന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോയില്ല. അമേരിക്കയിലെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നായി പ്രകടനത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കാന്‍ പോയത് 31 പേര്‍ മാത്രം. മറ്റ് പ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ കേരളത്തിലെ വിവിധ ഇടവകകളില്‍ നിന്നും അവിടത്തെ വികാരിമാര്‍ ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തതനുസരിച്ച് പ്രകടനത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കാന്‍ മുമ്പോട്ട്‌ വന്ന ചെറുപ്പക്കാരായിരുന്നു. ഞങ്ങള്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചത് സെല്‍ ഫോണില്‍ പിടിച്ച മൂന്നാല് ഫോട്ടോകള്‍ മാത്രം. നൂറു കണക്കിന് ഫോട്ടോകള്‍ എടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. അതില്‍ അച്ചന്മാരും മെത്രാന്മാരും കന്യാസ്ത്രീകളും, ഒക്കെയുണ്ട്.
ഒത്തിരി സീറോ മലബാര്‍ സഹോദരങ്ങളുടെ ചേദോവികാരം ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മനസ്സിലാക്കാം. They are in denial. They do not want to believe that they have been misled by their bishop. Our Garland church cheated Coppell church, we did not give fair share to them, they were entitled to get 1.5 million as their share (1/3 of 4 million dollars total asset of Garland church), the new church construction in our Garland church is to block this.

While the blog's intent of having a forum for constructive criticism is commendable, it seems like the blog is giving unnecessary support for Tom Varkey, without having looked into his background and credentials.
I looked him up on Google, and found the website for his "Jesus Army Ministries, Inc." It looks like a typical pentecostal money-making scheme.
On his website (about the author section) he claims to have "received a message from God that the Catholic Church and other Christian denominations urgently need a thorough cleansing and that he should take initiative to bring the Catholic Church more closely in alignment with the Word of God." He refers to himself as "Br.Tom", and on the contact section of the website, states that "any financial contribution to this end as well as prayer support are also much appreciated and acknowledged."
Take it for what it's worth. This is supposed to be a Catholic blog, so I don't understand why it is being hijacked by some delusional pentecostal opportunist.

കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം ക്നാനായ പള്ളിയിലെ ഒരാളുമായി സംസാരിച്ചപ്പോഴാണ് നമ്മള്‍ എത്ര മണ്ടമാരനന്നു പിടികിട്ടിയത്. മനോഹരമായ ആ പള്ളിയിലെ ഹാളിലീയും പള്ളിയിലയൂമായ സൌണ്ട് സിസ്റ്റം പിടിപ്പിച്ച്ചതിനു ചിലവായത് 25000 ഡോളര്‍. അയ്യോ അത്രയും ചിലാവായോ എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചപ്പോഴന്നു ഇഷ്ടന്‍ ചോടിച്ചാദ് നിങ്ങളുടെ പള്ളിയില്‍ എത്ര ആയി???? എനിക്കറിയില്ലായിരുന്നു. നമ്മുടെ ഒരു ഇഷ്ടനോട് ചോദിച്ചപ്പോഴാണ് അറിഞ്ഞത് നമുക്ക് ചിലവായത് 125000 !!!. ഒരാളോട് ചോദിച്ചു അതെന്താ നമുക്ക് ഇത്രയും????അപ്പോഴല്ലേ അറിഞ്ഞത് നമ്മുടെ സ്പീക്കറിന്റെ ഉള്ളില്‍ പോലും കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര് ഉണ്ട് എന്നത്. അതിശയം!!!!!!! എന്നിട്ടാണോ നമ്മുടെ വെഞ്ചിരുപ്പു ദിവസം മൊത്തത്തില്‍ കുളമായതും ഇപ്പോഴും കഷ്ടിച്ചു ഒപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് നടക്കുന്നതും???? പിന്നയല്ലേ അറിഞ്ഞത് നമ്മുടെ സിസ്റ്റം തയ്യാറാക്കിയത് വെളുമ്പന്‍ അവരുടെയോ???? നമ്മുടെ സിസ്റ്റം ആദ്യ ദിവസം അലറി വിളിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ സ്വയം രക്ഷ പെടാനും മടുള്ളവരുടെ കണ്ണില്‍ പോടിയിടാനും വേണ്ടി, പണി അറിയില്ല എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു നമ്മള്‍ പുറത്താക്കിയ മലയാളി സീറോ മലബാര്‍ കത്തോലിക്കാ പയ്യന്‍ !!!! എന്നിട്ട്ടു എന്തായി ഇത് വരെ അവര്‍ക്ക് ഒരു കുഴപ്പവും ഉണ്ടായില്ലന്നു മാത്രമല്ല നമ്മുടെതിലും ഗംഭീരം മാണ് അവിടുത്തെ സിസ്റ്റം. ഇങ്ങേനെയോണോ നമ്മുടെ പള്ളിക്ക് മില്ല്യന്‍ കണക്കിനു ചിലവായത്???? ഇത് വെറും ഒരു ഉദാഹരണം മാത്റമാണ്. ഇങ്ങെനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചാല്‍ എത്രയോ കാണും????
ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട സഭാ അധികാരികാല്‍ ഇതൊക്കെ കാനുണ്ടായിരുക്കുമെന്നു കരുതുന്നു.മാത്രമല്ല ഇതൊന്നും മുഉടിവേയ്ക്കാന്‍ കുറെ നാള്‍ കഴിയുമായിരിക്കും. നമുക്ക് പ്രാര്‍ഥിക്കാം വിശ്വാസികള്‍ക്ക് വേണ്ടി സ്വാര്‍ത്ഥ താത്പര്യങ്ങള്‍ ഉപെഷിച്ച്ചു നമ്മുടെ സഭാ നേതൃത്വം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കാന്‍ സന്നദ്ധമായി വരെട്ടെ. കുരിശിന്റെ ആകൃതി അല്ല പ്രധാനം കുരിശാണ് പ്രധാനം. ജനങ്ങളെ കുരിശിനോടു ചേര്‍ത്ത് നിര്‍ത്തുന്ന പ്രവര്തികലാണ് സഭാ നേത്രുതിന്റെ ഭാഗത്തുനിന്നും ഉണ്ടാകേണ്ടത്. അല്ലാതെ ജനഗലെ എങ്ങിനെ പിഴിയാം,എങ്ങിനെ മുടിപ്പിക്കാം, എങ്ങിനെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ചിലവില്‍ അവരെ ഭരിച്ചു രസിക്കാം എന്നതല്ല ലക്ഷ്യമാകേണ്ടത്
I completely agree with the observations made in the above comment. I would like to add a little more to this.
I am the first Malayalee to own a professional sound system from 1985, the reason being my wife is a singer. When we started our services in Bellwood, initially there was no Sound system, and on Sundays I used to bring my own system volutarilly. Later own we purchased a small system for $700. It was this system we were using for a long time without any problem. In 1993 I and my family went to Kerala for a 5 year stay. We came back to the US in 1998.
When we came back things were very different in the church. I tried to help with the Sound on Sundays. But the place was so full of politics. There was politics also in the choir. I felt my services were not welcome there. So i gradually withdrew.
During the construction of the Cathedral, I was aware of the current "sound engineers" talking and discussing about the fantastic sound system we are going to have in the new church. Nobody asked my opinion. Still I many times told these people to be extreamely careful. When i heard about the budget I could not believe it. I told them everything I could to persuade them to think twice. Needless to say I was ignored all the way.
Finally the inauguration day approched. I again told the person who was in charge of the sound, who is a friend of mine, to be very careful. I told him not to depend on an unproven and untested sound system for such an important occasion. I told him to install regular speakers at least for that day, as I was sure there would be problems with the new system. Nobody was willing to listen. And all of know what happened. The inauguration choir was one of the worst in our church, only due to the failure of the system.
After the inauguration was over, I told the current sound man, let us try a pair of regular speakers. I challenged him to let me install my own system for just one Sunday at least. They would not let me. Another time when we were doing a private choir, I inquired about putting up my own system. My request was denied. They claimed they were afraid it might damage the granite floor. No outside sound system is allowed in the church. I knew all the time the real reason. The real reason was, the interested parties did not want the people to hear a better sounding system than the one they had. I used to tease and challenge my friend to let me put my own system just for one Sunday.
Then came the flood a couple of weeks ago. The sound system in the church was damaged. So for two or three Sundays regular speakers costing about $400 each was used in the church. What was the result? The sound was much better than our $125,000 system.
As I mentioned, I have owned my own sound system from 1985. I did not learn sound operation by messing with church sound system like so many of our current sound guys. I have provided sound for a lot of shows and weddings and such in every kind of venue. I am saddened by the waste of money on account of our sound system. And let me also tell you, for a church even bigger than ours, the sound system will not cost more than 30 or 40 thousand dollars.
In regards to the $125,000 sound system:

this cross has not just come up in the last few years. they were here in kerala from centuries. our ancestors had it if not in some parts of kerala but in some other parts. did any one ever thought about how did we became syro malabar catholic??????
before the catholic faith came in kerala...befor many ceturies..we had christianity in kerala with deep roots to syrian church just like the jacobites or orthodox. the traditional syrian christians had this cross from centuries.
when the jesuits came to kerala they divided the keral syrian christians to syrian catholics and non catholics like jacobites. now jesuits let the syrian catholics follow the traditions as demanded by the new catholics. if these traditional things are not popular in other areas that simply shows that there is no traditional roots in there. they might be converts after the splits or more influenced by the latin catholic missionaries.

This so called CROSS was brought over by our syromalabar brothers of kanaya heritage. If you look into their history you will be able to see this cross at many of their churches etc.This CROSS had been placed in their first church in Kodungalloor and later in the 1500's brought over to st Mary's kanaya jacobaya church of Kottayam.
Powethil ,in the quest for creating an identity for himself,borrowed this cross, claimed it as his own.Therefore the CROSS was brought over by early christians of the orthodox faith.

He is the bishop who has voice not only in Syro malabar synod, or KCBC or CBCI but also in International Conferences. Even now, after retirement this remains the same, only because of his commitments towards our true faith and holy traditions. But our manikyan cross appeared first time in 20th century from somebody's backyard, is this st. Thomas cross or the one used by jacobite or orthodox churches?
Who is forcing you to be Catholics? be part of Syrian church and join these protestant groups.

Cooperating and working together with other christian denominations are OK, but why do we have to let go the real Catholic fundamental characteristics like Crucifix, Sacraments recieval time, liturgy etc:.
We did not gain anything for going for this ecumenical crap, Holy Communion and Confirmation is now given along-with baptism like other protestant group do, why? liturgy is a mixture, now people are trying to force manikyan cross to catholic church, where is this going to stop?

Go to Kothanalloor church website, you will see the St. Thomas Cross. That church is an old church founded even before Mar Powthil was born. You will also see this cross at Kottayam Valiapally which is now owned by Knananya jacobites. That Church was owned by all Christians before Koonan Kurishu Sathyam.

Why don't you get a copy of the synod decisions, that is the proof you need ,so you don't have to woory about all other things went over there . Synod decisions that is all it matter here.
Good points made by anonymous about marthoma cross.This cross is note came to SMC just recently. This cross is part of our faith, roots and tradition.
Even if crucifix is our center of faith, as a SMC we want give respect to our tradition and root. Please don't say bad about marthoma cross. SMC is not latin eventhough we got some influence from latin missionaries.
It is a shame for Tom Varkey and his group went to India and protest in the street like cheap political party!!. If he spend that money for feeding the poor that would be great thing for God and human.
