It is unfortunate that Fr. Varghese would stoop so low as to call anyone a 'Koppan' much less a dignified parishioner in Coppell, the jewel of the crown in the Syro-Malabar Church so to speak after fighting so many spectacular battles to hold on to their Crucifix in their church and then achieving grand success in all of them. As a parishioner of this proud parish, I feel offended if Fr. Varghese really meant to call this parishioner what he called him thus treating him in such a derogatory manner.
Well folks, after hearing about both the Easter messages in Coppell and Garland this Easter, I am really scared. I am becoming increasingly convinced that what Paul warned of while writing to Timothy is finally here. In 2 Tim. 4:3-4 he wrote: "The time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” This is exactly what we are seeing and hearing whether it is Coppell, Garland or Chicago -- whether it is the ranting and raving preacher in Chicago, Fr. Joji in Garland or the 'Easter preacher in Coppell' who had the audacity to tell the parishioners in Coppell that “Jesus' life up and until Easter should be bottled up and put away”. This is bad enough for the parishioners of Coppell to hear. I consider this as an act of dishonor to Jesus Christ pretty much equivalent to one of the instances when the soldiers spat on the face of Jesus. But what made it so much worse (I can't believe that Fr. Varghese supported this preacher in saying what he said about the life of Jesus Christ) is the poor judgment that Fr. Varghese displayed when the parishioners confronted him for the blasphemy that was uttered during the Easter homily by the priest delivering the homily. I feel that what Fr. Varghese should have done was to ask the 'Easter preacher' to apologize for what he said in his sermon.
But folks, on our part, we have to realize the fact we are in the end times. As St. Paul prophesied, Fr. Varghese and other priests in our Syro-Malabar Diocese are gathering teachers 'with itching ears'. The ears of such priests cannot stand sound doctrine because it does not support their Claver Agenda. Therefore their ears itch when they hear sound doctrine and they despise it whatever way they can even to the point of trying to make it entertaining for the listeners. Their sermons totally disregard the fact that when they deliver such sermons, they bring dishonor to Jesus Christ. But I have to warn these preachers that the parishioners who are listening will not tolerate such sermons about our precious Savior who shed every drop of His blood to redeem us. When His Word is trashed by these preachers, those of us in Coppell who stand up for the Crucifix and the Word of God will defend the honor of Jesus Christ at any cost. Because as we read in Zech. 2:8 when God's people are offended or hurt or touched, it is like touching the apple of God's eye. And also for us, when God’s word is insulted during homilies delivered by the claver maniacs and when Fr. Varghese takes their side, Fr. Varghese is touching the apple of our eyes and we will make him pay the price for dishonoring the Word of God and calling the parishioners of Coppell Koppans’. It is high time that he realizes that there are parishioners in Coppell who do honor the Word of God and who will not allow it to be blasphemed. We who love the Crucifix will defend it because “we are a people Jesus redeemed and purified unto himself who are zealous for good works [including defending the Word of God against blasphemy] (Tit. 2:14).
KOPPEL OUTSIDER, for the brothers in Koppel and other who read/comment:
- Do you really think it was a conspiracy to arrange that priest to deliver your easter message, creating more issues in Koppel? Isn't it a usual nattu nadappu that when a priest visit a parish member, they take part in the mass along with vicar? If conspiracy, then your parish member had no clue or is part of it? Was the outside priest invited for Sunday mass specifically or your vicar invited him? I think you should do a little CBI work before blaming it all on your vicar.
- The 'Koppa' calling issue. You guys are presenting it way out of context I think. Felt bad you guys are resorting to some TV channel style presentation by inserting that all over the audio repeatedly. Can't clearly understand which is real and hence can't judge the situation or what other side said. But definitely that gang making all the noise/arguments, is not treating a vicar with the respect he need. When there is no respect, all these are bound to happen. Achanmarum manusralle?
- If you guys really want to make a difference about this claver/crufix stuff, do something national level which gets escalated above our Methran. I was a neutral person. But seeing some of these things, I feel like what is important to some of the priests/metharn is not faith/belief/love/life as a catholic etc.. Too bad, really.
- Your priest is just a link in the hirearchy, similar to any organization. He has his limitations when there are higher authorities who command him to do things. Especially when priest is a 'by book' person. So don't just fight with him for everything. Fight for what you believe and what you need. But do it in a cultered manner.
I have been reading this blog for a long long time.. Obvisouly I understand what you stand for, fight for. I was happy that Koppel was getting peaceful lately since I didn't see any issues for sometime until this one. What happened might be provoking. But fighting with your Vicar is not going to bring peace. As I said, understand his inabilities/helplessness. If you have the audio of the provacative speech, why not make a formal complaint to methan. If no action, go to next level. Same with what was delevered in your neighboring church. When I talked about that to a religious person, he said, a priest will never say such things. I wanted him to hear it here. But saw that the audio of that pothuyogam is no more here. What happened?
Fight, but be peaceful, cultered.
Understand limitations of your vicar.
Escalate/make official complaints. I hope the canon laws will have some provision to do such complaints and when made, priest/methran and all have to act. I could be wrong.

Because of few looters, they destroyed the good name of Syro Malabar church in USA. Coordinate a THARNA (protest march ) in front of the Dallas Cathedral church and bring the SMC-Chicago’s diocese’s protestant agenda to the catholic world.

Cardinal Francis George suspends Fr. Pfleger: “You are not able to pastor a Catholic parish”
Citing what he called threats from the Rev. Michael Pfleger to leave the church, Cardinal Francis George has removed the outspoken priest from St. Sabina parish and has suspended his "sacramental faculties as a priest."
"If that is truly your attitude, you have already left the Catholic Church and are therefore not able to pastor a Catholic parish," George wrote in a letter dated today.
"A Catholic priest's inner life is governed by his promises, motivated by faith and love, to live chastely as a celibate man and to obey his bishop," the cardinal continued. "Breaking either promise destroys his vocation and wounds the Church.
"Many love and admire you because of your dedication to your people," the cardinal wrote. "Now, however, I am asking you to take a few weeks to pray over your priestly commitments in order to come to mutual agreement on how you understand personally the obligations that make you a member of the Chicago presbyterate and of the Catholic Church.
"With this letter, your ministry as pastor of Saint Sabina Parish and your sacramental faculties as a priest of the Archdiocese are suspended."
The cardinal ended the letter by saying, "This conflict is not between you and me; it's between you and the Church that ordained you a priest, between you and the faith that introduced you to Christ and gives you the right to preach and pastor in his name. If you now formally leave the Catholic Church and her priesthood, it's your choice and no one else's. You are not a victim of anyone or anything other than your own statements."
"I want to try to stay in the Catholic Church," Pfleger said. "If they say 'You either take this principalship of (Leo High) or pastorship there or leave,' then I'll have to look outside the church. I believe my calling is to be a pastor. I believe my calling is to be a voice for justice. I believe my calling is to preach the Gospel. In or out of the church, I'm going to continue to do that."
In a later interview with the Tribune, Pfleger clarified that he feels called to preach and push for social justice in a Catholic context. He said he loves the Catholic Church and prefers to stay there, but he would not go to Leo full time.
"I've always said I could not do something that I don't feel called or equipped to do," he told the Tribune. "A full-time position at Leo is not something I'm equipped to do. I think Leo has made it clear they don't see any need for me to come there. For both sides, it would be a lose-lose."
"As you know, this was an honest offer, not driven by pressure from any group but by a pastoral need in the Archdiocese," George wrote. "You promised to consider what was a proposal, not a demand, even as I urged you to accept it."
The cardinal says his private conversation with Pfleger "was misrepresented publicly as an attempt to 'remove' you from Saint Sabina's. You know that priests in the Archdiocese are 'removed' only because they have been found to have sexually abused a minor child or are guilty of financial malfeasance.
"In all other cases, priests are reassigned, moving from one pastoral office to another according to the policies in place for the last forty years," George wrote. "That process has now been short-circuited by your remarks on national radio and in local newspapers that you will leave the Catholic Church if you are told to accept an assignment other than as pastor of Saint Sabina Parish."

I was listenig to the voice and comenting using my handheld. I have no question about the authenticity of it. just was wondering about the people around while this was all happening. You guys in copel had the courage to record and show the world that this is happening in our church.Some one asked me why I need to coment on SMC blog when I am a member of the English church. I was a member for 9 years before I joined the English church where my family finally found what we are looking for from a church.
