കഴിഞ്ഞ ഞായറാഴ്ച നമ്മുടെ പള്ളിയുടെ പാര്‍ക്കിന്ഗ് ലോട്ടിലോട്ടു കയറാന്‍ വണ്ടി പതുക്കെ സ്ലോ ചെയ്തു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കയായിരുന്നു ഞാനപ്പോള്‍. ചങ്കിനുള്ളില്‍ വണ്ടി എവിടെ ഇടും എന്ന തീയും.അപ്പോള്‍ അതാ ഒരു പ്രേതത്തെ കണ്ടിട്ടെന്നപോലെ കാത് പൊട്ടുമാറ്‌ ഉച്ചത്തില്‍ കാറിക്കൊണ്ട് എന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഇത്തമ്മ: "ഈശോ ...കര്‍ത്താവേ!!!!"
ഉറക്കത്തില്‍ നിന്നും ഞെട്ടിയുണര്‍ന്ന ടുട്ടുമോനും ടിട്ടിമോളും ഒപ്പം കാറി. ഞെട്ടി വിരണ്ട ഞാന്‍ അറിയാതെ ബ്രേക്ക് ചവിട്ടി.
പിന്നില്‍ വരുകയായിരുന്ന ചിന്നമ്മ തൊട്ടു തൊട്ടില്ല, തൊട്ടു തൊട്ടില്ല എന്ന മട്ടില്‍ സടന്‍ സ്റ്റോപ്പ്. അവള്‍ ആഞ്ഞു ചവിട്ടിയില്ലായിരുന്നെങ്കില്‍ എന്റെ റിയര്‍ തവിടുപൊടി!
മനസാന്നിധ്യം വീണ്ടെടുത്ത ഞാന്‍: "എന്തെ, എന്ത് പറ്റി ഇത്തു?"
"ഇടത്തോട്ടു നോക്ക് മനുഷ്യ!"
അത് കണ്ട ഞാനും ഞെട്ടിപ്പോയി! രണ്ടു ഓറഞ്ച് സ്തംഭങ്ങള്‍! അതെ ഓറഞ്ച് കളറിലുള്ള സ്തംഭങ്ങള്‍! നമ്മുടെ പള്ളിയുടെ മുമ്പില്‍!
അമ്പരന്നുപോയി. വഴി തെറ്റിപ്പോയോ? ബാര്‍ട്ട് ലെറ്റിലെ ജെയിന്‍ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിലാണോ ഞങ്ങള്‍ എത്തുപെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്! അതോ താഴത്തങ്ങാടിയിലെ ശ്രീ നാരായണഗുരു സ്തൂപത്തിനു മുമ്പിലോ?
പരിസരബോധം നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട ഞാന്‍ വണ്ടി മെല്ലെ മുമ്പോട്ട്‌ നിരങ്ങി നീങ്ങിയതറിഞ്ഞതെയില്ല. ഇടം വലം നോക്കാതെ സടന്‍ ബ്രേക്കിട്ടു. ഭാഗ്യത്തിന് തൊട്ടു തൊട്ടില്ല തൊട്ടു തൊട്ടില്ല എന്ന മട്ടില്‍ ഞാന്‍ സിന്ധുമോളുടെ പിറകില്‍ ചെന്നു നിന്നു. അങ്ങനെ ആഞ്ഞു ചവിട്ടിയില്ലായിരുന്നെങ്കില്‍ സിന്ധു മോളുടെ റിയര്‍ തവിടുപൊടി!
"ഇതു ബിഷപ്പിന്റെ പണിയാ," ഒടുവില്‍ ഇത്തമ്മ പറഞ്ഞു.
"വാട്ട് ഡു യൂ മീന്‍?"
"കര്‍ട്ടന്റെ കളര്‍ കണ്ടില്ലേ? അതുമായി മാച്ച് ചെയ്യുന്ന കലറാ ."
" അത് ശരിയാ. പക്ഷെ എനിക്ക് തോന്നുന്നത് മറ്റൊന്നാ."
"വാട്ട് ഡു യൂ മീന്‍?
"ഇതൊരു പക്ഷെ നമ്മുടെ ശ്രദ്ധയാകര്ഷിക്കുവാന്‍ വേണ്ടിയുള്ള പണിയായിരിക്കും. ആദ്യമായി നമ്മുടെ പള്ളി യന്ന്വേഷിച്ചു വരുന്ന പലരും ഈ താഴികക്കുടങ്ങളൊക്കെ കണ്ടു ഇതൊരു മോസ്ക്കാണെന്ന് കരുതി നേരെ വിട്ടു പോയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഈ രൂപത്തിലുള്ള ഒരു കത്തോലിക്കാ പള്ളി ഏതെങ്കിലും മനുഷ്യര് കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ? " ഞാന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. "കൂടാതെ നമ്മുടെ പല ആള്‍ക്കാരും st charles road ല്‍ കറമ്പന്‍ പോലീസിനെ പേടിച്ചു സ്പീഡോമീറ്ററില്‍ നിന്നും കണ്ണെടുക്കാറില്ല. പലരും അറിയാതെ പള്ളി പാസ് ചെയ്ത് മാന്‍ഹേം റോഡ് വരെ പോയ കഥകളുണ്ട്."
"അത്രയും വലിയ പോട്ടന്മാര് നമ്മുടെ പള്ളിയിലുണ്ടോ?"
"എസ് മമ്മി," ടിട്ടിമോള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു, "അവര്‍ ഡാഡി !"
ടുട്ടുവും ടിട്ടിയും ഇത്തുവും ആര്‍ത്താര്‍ത്തു ചിരിച്ചു.

Which ever idiot designed this sign and its color is an embarrassment to this community. He should be identified. How much more silly, stupid, cheap, tasteless can a human being get! This is worse than the curtain. Jesus!

That sign bord really surprised me. The blessing was on july 4, 2008 and a sign board popped up on march 22, 2008. when we talk about church construction and millions, please we shouldnt include our priests. They all are coming from good families, and they have enough assets. The real criminals are FEW parishners. They mislead our priests. One thing I agree, Priests should be smart enough to realise "kathirum pathirum". Thats where they failed. Our average community is super descent people. Whatever happened, happened. This point the responsible people(whoever) has to admit their mistake and apologize to the community. Our community will accept that apology, I believe. Then do whatever the best. Instead "kattondu kallan munpottu"
I think church should buy one pair of orange shirt and mundu, and one pair of orange sari and blouse.andrew chamakala and their wifes should wear it and on our perunnal day, they should lead our procession. Sooo beautiful. May be they should carry our "sreenaarayana" sthoopam too. So wonderful. Dont you think so?Everybody will find out their ability. Cowards....
