നമ്മുടെ മെത്രാന്റെ പൊക്ക് രണ്ടും കല്‍പ്പിച്ചുള്ള ഒരു ഒരുപ്പോക്കാണെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു.

പത്തുപതിനാറാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടു വരെ ശീലയും കെട്ടി താമരക്കുരിശും പ്രതിഷ്ടിച്ചു കല്‍ദായകളായി ജീവിച്ചു വന്നവരാനല്ലോ നമ്മള്‍. പോപ്പിന്റെ നിര്‍ദ്ദേശമനുസരിച്ച് പോര്‍ച്ചുഗീസുകാരും മറ്റു പാശ്ചാത്യരായ ഈശോ സഭാ വൈദീകരും വന്നു നമ്മുടെ കല്‍ദായ സംസ്കാരത്തില്‍ വെള്ളം ചേര്‍ത്തു. അവരുടെ ആചാരങ്ങള്‍ നമ്മുടെ മേല്‍ കേട്ടിയെല്‍പ്പിച്ചു. നമ്മുടെ കല്‍ദായ പാരമ്പര്യത്തെ അവര്‍ തുടച്ചു മാറ്റി, ഉത്മൂല നാശം ചെയ്തു. അങ്ങനെ കല്‍ദായ പാരമ്പര്യം അപ്പാടെ നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട നമ്മള്‍ നിരാലമ്പരും ശീല രഹിതരുമായി കഴിഞ്ഞ കുറെ നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി ആഗോള കത്തോലിക്കാ സഭാമരുഭൂമിയില്‍ അങ്ങനെ അലഞ്ഞു നടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. അപ്പോഴാണ്‌ ഇരുപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ അവസാന പാതത്തില്‍ രക്ഷകനായി മാര്‍ പവ്വത്തില്‍, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കുട്ടി സ്രാങ്ക്‌ മാര്‍ പള്ളിക്കാപ്പരമ്പില്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ രംഗപ്രവേശം ചെയ്യുന്നത്. അവര്‍ കേരളത്തിലെ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ വിശ്വാസികളുടെ തൊണ്ടയിലൂടെയും ആസനത്തിലൂടെയും ശീലയും താമരക്കുരിശും കുത്തിയിറക്കാന്‍ നോക്കിയിട്ട് കാര്യമായ വിജയം കണ്ടില്ല. അങ്ങനെ മടുത്ത്‌, തളര്‍ന്നു അവശരായി, നിരാശരായി അവര്‍ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ദാ, വരുന്നു, കല്‍ദായ സഭയുടെ പുനരുദ്ധാരകനായി നമ്മുടെ ബിഷപ്പ് അങ്ങാടിയത്ത്.
വടക്കേ അമേരിക്കയുടെ മുഴുവനും അധിപതിയായ അങ്ങാടിയത്ത്, സാമാന്യ മര്യാദയോ, സംസ്കാരമോ, സത്യ സന്ധതയോ തന്റെ കല്‍ദായ വല്‍ക്കരണ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് തടസ്സമാകാന്‍ ഒരിക്കലും അനുവദിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. . തന്റെ (അന്ധ) വിശ്വാസം ഏത് വിധേനയും സത്യ വിശ്വാസികളില്‍ അടിച്ചേല്‍പ്പിക്കുക. കളവു, വഞ്ചന, ചതി, നുണ, എന്ന് വേണ്ട എന്ത് കൊള്ളത്തരം ചെയ്തായാലും അമേരിക്കന്‍ സീറോ മലബാറുകാരെ തന്റെ ചുവപ്പ് ശീലകൊണ്ടു മറച്ചു താമരക്കുരിശിനെ ആരാധിപ്പിക്കുക. ഈ ശീലയുടെ അര്‍ത്ഥം ആരാഞ്ഞ ഐഷ എന്ന യുവതിയോട് ബിഷപ്പ് പറഞ്ഞത് സ്മരണീയമായ ഒരു സത്യമാണ് : "ഈ ശീല മാറ്റിയാല്‍ മാത്രമേ നമുക്ക് സ്വര്‍ഗം കാണാന്‍ പറ്റുകയുള്ളൂ."
വിഷയത്തിലേക്ക് തിരിച്ച് വരാം. അങ്ങനെ ശരിയായ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ പാരമ്പര്യത്തിലേക്ക്‌ തന്റെ ജനങ്ങളെ തിരിച്ച് കൊണ്ടുവരാന്‍ തന്റെ മെത്രാന്‍ തൊപ്പി വരെ റിസ്ക്‌ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന നമ്മുടെ ബിഷപ്പ് ഇപ്പോള്‍ പറയുന്നു നമ്മള്‍ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ സഭയുടെ പരമോന്നത തലവനെ അനുസരിക്കേണ്ട കാര്യമില്ലെന്ന്. തന്റെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട കല്‍ദായ പാരമ്പര്യത്തിന് പതിനാറാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടില്‍ പാര വച്ച പോപ്പിനെ അനുസരിച്ചാല്‍ മതിയെന്ന്. താന്‍ പോപ്പിന്റെ കീഴിലാണ്, അല്ലാതെ ആഗോള സീറോ മലബാര്‍ സഭയുടെ കീഴിലല്ലെന്നു. അതിന്റെ നിയമങ്ങള്‍ തനിക്കു ബാധകമല്ലെന്ന്. ഇത് തികച്ചും ഒരു വിരോധാഭാസമായി ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു തോന്നുന്നതില്‍ തെറ്റുണ്ടോ?
സീറോ മലബാര്‍ സഭയുടെ ഭാഗ്യമെന്നല്ലാതെ എന്ത് പറയാന്‍ . തന്റെ കല്‍ദായ തീവ്ര വാദത്തോട് ജനങ്ങള്‍ അത്ര ഉഷാര് കാണിക്കുന്നില്ല. ഏത് വിധേനയും ശീലയും ക്ലാവര്‍ കുരിശും തൂക്കുക. ഇതാണ് അങ്ങാടിയത്തിന്റെ ഏക മെത്രാന്‍ ദൌത്യം. ചിക്കാഗോ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ സമൂഹത്തെ അദ്ദേഹം കബളിപ്പിച്ചു. പക്ഷെ അതില്‍ നിന്നും മറ്റു ചിലര്‍ പാഠം പഠിച്ചു. അതിന്റെ ഫലമാണ് ബിഷപ്പിന് കോപ്പെലില്‍ കിട്ടിയ ഇരുട്ടടി. ഇപ്പോള്‍ മയാമിയില്‍ ക്രൂശിതരൂപം എടുത്തു മാറ്റി, അല്താരയുടെ അറ്റകുറ്റപ്പണി നടത്തുകയാണ്. ക്രൂശിത രൂപം തന്നെ തിരിച്ച് പ്രതിഷ്ടിക്കും എന്നാണ് ഫാ. സക്കറിയാസ് വാക്കുകൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. അത് ഫില്‍സിമോള്‍ക്ക്‌ കൊടുത്ത വാക്കുപോലെയെ ഞങ്ങള്‍ കണക്കാക്കുന്നുള്ളൂ. അല്താരയുടെ അറ്റകുറ്റപ്പണി കഴിയുമ്പോള്‍ അവിടെ താമരക്കുരിശു മുളക്കും. ആ നാണക്കേട്‌ മറക്കാനായി ചുവന്ന പാവാട അണിയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
"ചെന്ന് കൊണ്ടുവരാന്‍ പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ കൊന്നു കൊണ്ടുവരും" എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ പോലെയാണ് ഫീനിക്സില്‍ ഒരു പാതിരി. ഫാ. മാത്യു. അദ്ദേഹം ബോധവല്‍ക്കരണമാണ്‌. കുടുംബയോഗങ്ങളില്‍ പോയി ശീല കെട്ടുന്നത്തിന്റെയും പോക്കുന്നതിന്റെയും രഹസ്യം സ്ത്രീ ജനങ്ങളെ പറഞ്ഞു ബോധവതികളാക്കുക. ഇതാണ് അദ്ദേഹം അമേരിക്കയില്‍ ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രേഷിത പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം. ഈ സമയം പുരുഷന്മാര്‍ വെള്ളവുമടിച്ചു വായും പൊളിച്ചിരിക്കും. പിന്നെ ശീല മാറ്റുമ്പോഴേ അവര്‍ക്ക് പരിസര ബോധം വരൂ.
ഇതിനിടെ ഒരു കരക്കമ്പി കേള്‍ക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ക്ലാവര്‍ കുരിശ് സ്ഥാപിക്കണമെന്ന പോപ്പിന്റെ എഴുത്ത് വരുത്തി ജനങ്ങളെ കാട്ടി വിരട്ടുമെന്ന്. പോപ്പിന്റെ ലെറ്റര്‍ ഒരു പക്ഷെ വരും. അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ ബിഷപ്പ് വരുത്തും. ക്ലാവര്‍ കുരിശ് അള്‍ത്താരയില്‍ വയ്ക്കാം എന്നതില്‍ പറയാനും സാധ്യതയുണ്ട്. പക്ഷെ ക്ലാവര്‍ കുരിശ് മാത്രമേ അള്‍ത്താരയില്‍ വയ്ക്കാവൂ എന്നതില്‍ പറയില്ല. ക്രൂശിത രൂപത്തെ തള്ളി മാറ്റണമെന്നും പറയില്ല. ജനങ്ങളുടെ ഇഷ്ടാനിഷ്ടങ്ങള്‍ നോക്കാതെ അത് സ്ഥാപിക്കാനും പറയില്ല.
എന്നാല്‍ ഈ വിഷയത്തില്‍ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ സിനഡ് വളരെ വ്യക്തമായ നിലപാട് എടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. അത് നമ്മള്‍ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ട്. അല്താരകളില്‍ മാര്‍ തോമാ കുരിശ് പ്രതിഷ്ടിക്കാം. വിരിയും തൂക്കാം. എന്നാല്‍ ഈ ആചാരങ്ങള്‍ ആദ്യമായി ആവിഷ്കരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അത് വിശ്വാസികള്‍ക്കിടയില്‍ മാനസിക ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകള്‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കരുത്. ഗണ്യമായ ഒരു വിഭാഗം അതിനെതിരാനെങ്കില്‍ അത് നടപ്പിലാക്കായുമരുത്. ഈ നിബന്ധനകള്‍ ഒഴിവാക്കാനാണ് താന്‍ പോപ്പിന്റെ കീഴിലാണെന്ന വേഷം കെട്ടും പറഞ്ഞു നമ്മുടെ ബിഷപ്പ് നടക്കുന്നത്. ഇങ്ങനെ തന്റെ സ്വാര്‍ത്ഥ താല്‍പ്പര്യം നടപ്പാക്കാന്‍ നിയമങ്ങളെ വളച്ചൊടിക്കുന്നത് കൊണ്ടാണ് ബിഷപ്പിന് കൊപ്പേല്‍ പോലുള്ള തലങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നും ഇരുട്ടടി കിട്ടുന്നത്. കോപ്പെലില്‍ നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടത് ബിഷപ്പിന് മാത്രം. ശരിയാണ്, ബിഷപ്പ് അവരുടെ അക്കൌന്റ് മരവിപ്പിച്ചു. മരവിപ്പിക്കുകമാത്രമല്ല, അഞ്ചു ഡോളര്‍ നീക്കി ബാക്കിയെല്ലാം അടിച്ചു മാറ്റുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഇടവകക്കാരുടെ പണം. എന്നാല്‍ അതുകൊണ്ടെന്തുടായി? ബിഷപ്പിന് തന്നെ പോയി. കൊപ്പെലുകാര്‍ പഠിച്ചു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ ഒരുമിച്ചു ഒരു ട്രസ്റ്റ് രൂപീകരിച്ചിരിക്കയാണ്. ഇനി അവരുടെ സംഭാവനകള്‍ എല്ലാം പോകുന്നത് ഈ ട്രുസ്സ്ട്ടിലെക്കായിരിക്കും. ഇന്നവരുടെ പ്രഥമ പിക്നിക് ആണ്. ഫാ. വിനോദിനെയും പുതിയ വികാരി ഫാ. വര്‍ഗീസിനെയും അവര്‍ പിക്നിക് ന് ക്ഷണിക്കാനും പരിപാടിയുണ്ട്.. ചിക്കാഗോക്ക് തിരിച്ച് വരുമ്പോള്‍ പ്രശ്നമായെങ്കിലോ എന്ന് ഭയന്ന് ഫാ. വിനോദ് മനസ്സില്ലാമനസ്സോടെ ക്ഷണം നിരസിക്കും എന്നുറപ്പാണ്.
ഈ വൈകിയ വേളയിലെങ്കിലും കണ്ണ് തുറക്കാന്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ ബിഷപ്പിനോട് അഭ്യര്‍ഥിക്കുകയാണ്. ഉള്ള അന്തസ്സ് കളഞ്ഞുകുളിച്ചു ലോകരുടെ മുമ്പില്‍ വിഡ്ഢിയാകാമെന്നുല്ലതല്ലാതെ ഈ കുരിശ് യുദ്ധത്തില്‍ നിന്നും അങ്ങ് ഒന്നും നേടില്ല. പ്രബുദ്ധരായ അമേരിക്കന്‍ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ വിശാസികള്‍ അങ്ങയുടെ പരിഷ്കാരങ്ങള്‍ വിചിത്രമായി മാത്രമേ കാണുന്നുള്ളൂ. ഇക്കണക്കിന് പോയാല്‍ അമേരിക്കയിലെ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ സഭയുടെ ശവമടക്കിനു അങ്ങ് മുഖ്യകാര്‍മ്മികനാകേണ്ടിവരും.

I seriously doublt that Pope will allow our bishop to replace crucifix with syro malabar emblem.
If you have any doubts, read the article on what Pope wants us to have on the altar. Don't just ignore it as just a bunch of reading. Read it and understand it. Then you will see where Pope stands in regards to crucifix.

I think it is time to have two dioceses in North America. We can have the same liturgy/alter set up as in Kerala now. Bishop Angadiath should call his diocese Syro-Palai or Syro-Changanassery to best represent his mindset and actions.

We are really ashamed of you, Bishop Angadiath. Remove the bad elements from the church, unite the believers under the Holy Cross, redeem the admiration & respect from the faithful. We, the believers form the church, without the faithful you became a fake. That is your primary vocation.
When they saw the hard earned money flow from the faithful, the Bishop and SMC authority uses the catholic church as money machine and them forget about the faith and propagation of true faith in the Lord. For Jesus disciples it took them many years to get into the hidden meaning of Jesus mission. Even St.Thomas was one of the worst in this matter. Everybody believed while St. Thomas did not.
Judas was an educated politician tempted by worldly Satan. The same thing is happening in SMC-USA under the Bishop Angadiath. The Bishop is under the influence of satanic force, his mind is unsighted and he is a dump of the SMC in USA who cannot hear and listen and failed to deliver. The Syro Malabar communities in USA were a very spiritually vibrant community before he became the Bishop. The Bishop along with his few parasite priests destroyed our unity and desecrates the religiousness of the Holy Altar.
The Syro Malabar church Authority in USA is a total failure in USA.

AS a minority diocese, Chicago Diocese is getting more than 1 million dollars from US Conference of Catholic Bishops for its activities and its churches. From the previous posts, it is clearly understood that the Bishop is spending all those amounts to modifying his life styles and his families.
Really its a Shame......
The Bishop and priests always try to scare the "Sheeps" with belief/faith tactics.
But it's time and we should stand for our Crucified Jesus. Saying Crucified Cross is a MUST in alter, you are proclaiming your faith in Crucified Christ. And it's no way you are against the Bishop.
And as a prominant Chicago Parishoner, I may react and that may be a shock to many people too.

I do not know how to persuade you guys from stopping this character assasination. The church was founded by Christ, univeral church was established by St.Peter, and we profess our christian heritage to St. Thomas. If you have any differnce of opinions with the bishop that should brought to the attention of the Church authorities in a civilzed and establised way. Cross and veil are symbols of our belief. Why should this divide the community?. You are levelling serious accusations against many individulas. The Coppel church was worshipping place from believers from all over Kerala and India and should be treated like that both by the bishop and the laity.
Would the blogger owner please, please in the name of our supreme priest Jesus Christ stop publishing this hate mongering. I am begging you please stop this. If your feelings were hurt in any way I am asking Jesus for forgiveness and healing. First, let me say that I am don't support the name calling and disgusting comments that some people have posted in the past.
When a person hurt another, the recepient might just sit down and cry, or stand up and fight back. You are seeing the latter these days.
It is the job of pastor, bishop, arch bishop, cardinal, and Pope to lead us in the right direction, and lead by example.
What we are learning from Bishop and some of the priest under his leadership is it is okay to sit in front of the altar and lie to people. It is okay to lie to the congregation that not even the thought a certain type of action came through their mind when they have already committed such an act (I am referring to the act of firing Fr.Saji for installing crucifix on the altar).
In short, the example we are seeing in our bishop and some of his subordinates is that it is okay to lie and cheat whenever you can.
Our shephers are lost.
We, the laity, have to rescue them.
Stop showering them with money.
Dumping money in collection basket will not fix the church.
Church is not just a building - it includes the parishoners.
Set an example for the bishop and his priests by giving only enough money to support monthly payment and utility bills. Then give the remainder to local food bank, feed the children, and other charitable organizations, or give to the vincent de paul society at your parish in Kerala. Above all, make an effort to find out whether they are using the money for feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, helping the sick, etc.
Let us have a place of worship where the laity whole heartedly and in union respects the priest and priest in turn respects the bishop....... .It will be more better,priests and Bishop should respect laity as well. Rather than
consider them as money cows' please respect their voices and concern.
Sir, I am not justifying or finding fault with any one. I know most of you whole heartedly supported the church both financially and spiritually. I feel you are hurt, but then again that does not give any one the right to abuse our own brothers and bishops. Priests and bishops come and go, most of us in this community will stay here.
I would like to share a personal story with you. I had a close friend and we started fighting for some social issues and even went to court. fifteen years later my son married his daughter and I felt so embrassed about the whole incident.
If any one of you got hurt I apologize to you in the name of Jesus Christ who is superior to you Fr.Saji, Bishop, Cardinal and the Holy Father.
All I am asking is please stop comments directed at inviduals and stop character assasination.
Regarding Cross, and curtain everyone is entitled to thier opinion and unless the diocess comes up with a clear opinion on this, it is grossly unfair to enforce this through back door.
I am an ordinary, catholic and I am praying to my brothers and sisters to forgive and move on.

i was born and raised here in the US and i am sick and tired of hearing the older people fight over the politics of this church. I think that part of the problem is that some people are arguing just because they want to argue not because they actually believe in arguing. Also i dont think it actually matters whether or not there is a curtain. It was part of our culture in india and we couldnt put it up in the old church but when we got the new church we decided to put it up ijust think we need to stop arguing about the small things that dont really matter

There is nothing wrong with people expressing their anger and frustration. It is quite normal that while doing so they may use some harsh words. Anyone who supports the kind of behavior by Chicago Bishop and his company needs to be dealt with. They created these mess. They, they alone are responsible for all these problems. I know a lot of people are against claver cross and seela. Why does the Bishop try to force it on the people? Do we have any rights? Is it a sin to question them? From what you have written, I assume that you are not unhappy about the wrong doings of the clergy, but the strong words angry people use against them. God bless you.

the church is turning into a business place. i think that needs to stop first. second we build this church for one major reason to have mass in it and to hold a lot of people, and it does. so why are we arguing about whats in to? we build it for our CHILDREN and what we should now do is try to bring the entire syro malabar youth close because they are the future of our church. just because we have a big church does int mean any thing if there is no one in IT.

Please don't think there is lot of SM Catholics in USA against Bishop and Priests, because you see lot of comments against them in this blog.The Majority of SM Catholics who are Going to our church are Very happy about the Opportunity to attend mass in our own mother language ,even though they have to support the church financially. without members Support I don't know how can we pay the bills? I don't under stand why some people crying about this in this blog.They may be not satisfied with Priest or some of the church officials.Priests are human too. Don't expect miracle from them. They are coming from different family and regional(?) back ground.They are like our brother or son.Please under stand this and react mature way.We don't have to be friend with Kaikkaran or other church official.If they make mistakes handle that the right way.Forget regionalism. When we are at church we are one family .God's Chosen people.For the attention of our priests. When you come to a new Parish, you are going to see you many characters. But don't join any kind of group. Treat everybody same.That will be the key to the success.You can listen people. but don't make any conclusion or action based on some peoples advise.Show the leader ship qualities.Use the right words when you talk.I See lot of parish members are not happy because most of our priest are not doing above mentioned things. We will support you financially . So don't be greedy to American $$$$$$.Always stand for God and Truth.
