Property History of our current Bishop House. This is just to point out that the authority made VERY poor financial decisions. I am not here to criticize their Spiritual doing and I am not worthy enough to discuss that. However the point is the money is “Public Money” and it should be used wisely. There are amble talents in the church and the financial decisions should have been made wisely. Earlier I pointed out the രൂപതയുടെ ഓഫീസ് കെട്ടിടം 700K mess.

Paid Price Tag - 2.2 Million

HISTORY:

Koenig & Strey Real Living (24039) broker has listed our current Bishop’s house ( 372 S Prairie) in 2003 for 1.1 Million(Reference MLS# 03253004). This was in the market was till 01/10/2005 with a revised price tag of 1.25 Million.

In 2006 – Our authority made the purchase for the same property plus adjacent vacant parcel for 2.1 Million Dollars.

On 10/09/2006 the same broker have sold the property to our Diocese for 1.65 Million (Listed Price 1.685Million. Think about this transaction.) A property listed for 1.1Million and later in the peak time stayed with a price for 1.25 Million in 2005 and our authority purchased this property for 1.65 Million + 450K for the adjacent parcel. (Qn: What was the need of the adjacent parcel? Parking Lot/Pay Ground/Swimming Pool – No Idea). Whoever helped them in buying, did a utterly poor job in bringing down the price. Either they might not have done any research on this or ..I am not sure.

Our Demands to Sabha Authoity
1. Initiate charity work to help the poor people in India.
2. Help poor catholic families to get married their daughters
3. Help poor people to raise their kids in Kerala to provide better education.
4. Raise a charity fund here to help the poor Malayalee Catholics for funeral costs and other important necessities.
5. Raise a fund to provide loan so that better education to our own kids can be available in USA.
6. Etc etc etc……

PRIESTS, Few suggestions
1. Standardize the cost for house blessings, car blessings etc (Charge Fees on each) or make it official that YOU DO NOT need money for doing such things and they are part of the services. The priests have 3K salary + allowances. I think as a God’s shepherd, 3K is reasonable to live here. You do not have a family to run here or anywhere else.
2. Please organize some family events where you can help the relationships of couples. (On the same cross issues, husband and wife have political issues along with several other family issues :)
3. Most of the time we do not have the guts to question you because you are a superior and we feel that you are God’s representative. But I think you have an obligation and duty to fellow parishioners while serving the Bishop. If you say, you take only directions from authority knowing the fact that it’s not right, it’s time to change that by making the authority realizing the mistake and advising them in the right way . All I say is “Be a TRUE priest”.

Finally, in Chicago we have two bold priests. Fr Antony and Fr Shasserri. But they are NOT bold enough to talk to the Bishop because they feel it cause trouble to the parish. Yes, they may be right in their own arguments and we respect them. BUT you cannot fool any crowd for more than ‘X’ no of years. So please be OPEN.

Note: The above details are public records. My intentions are very clear. Please do something best for the society. It’s 2010 and people like us, we NEED HELP. And we want you to use your POWER in helping the poor rather than making the poor decisions.

CONCERNS
OUR “Intelligent Diocese” bought the same 1.25 listed property for 1.65 Million Dollars. And they have purchased the adjacent parcel for 450K. The total house worth was 2.1 Million Dollars.
Do Bishop and 4 other adult priests need a 2.2 Million house? (We as normal household family, we may have 5 members in the family and our house worth anywhere from 250K to 1Million). Our Bishop must live in a respected house but the price tag of 2.2 Million dollars was TOO MUCH in the current area our Excellency is living. You could have purchased a much better house in anywhere like Naperville, South Barrington, Glenview, Northbrook or other places. And that way we could have attended a mass nearby once in a while.
And one other point was, near to our Hellwood 10+Million Cathedral, our finance gurus purchased 2-3 houses, which was never used by any priests yet though the intention was for vicar’s house. You could have constructed a beautiful 6000SqFt house in one of the lots for less than 700K (Using any general contractor). That way, the authority could have saved more than a million plus for the hard earned syro Malabar people. Also the Bishop and the Cathedral could have been in one single boundary. Or the building adjacent to our church (Day Care) could have been purchased for office purposes and start using it. We could have avoided some of the parking mess on any give sunday.

The thinking aspect must change. It’s time to realize the money is “HARD”. We all know how hard to live and make money in this country. Day by day, things are getting difficult. People are loosing jobs. People are loosing ground with tragedies.

As a respectful Organization, why cann’t you do something worthwhile? Rather than wasting your spiritual talents in “Viri/Sheela and Claver Cross” it’s time to do something else for the society.

If you don’t divert your attention and do the “important things” our money will no more comes to church. I rather spend and welcome my fellow readers to do the same.

Make the authority knows that you are NOT willing to donate any money to Syro Church unless the directions are CLEAR. Remember it’s not a sin as long as you have good intentions and you are being straight. And please give a dead line to them expecting their kind attention. (May be cut down the dollars from 1000 to $400 and spend the remaining on poor). Please donate the same amount what you are intent to spend on church to charity. (God wants you to spend this money on good cause and YOU MUST do that)

We are NOT against Bishop. We are REAL Catholics and we want the truth/righteousness/justice to be implemented by the supreme authorities. They have been given the power to use it correctly not to abuse it. It’s NOT late yet. Please realize the same group of people NO MORE with you. We are with our Jesus and he is telling me to give better advise so that the same mistakes will NOT be repeated.
