പുതിയ കത്തീദ്രല്‍ ദേവാലയത്തിന്റെ കൂദാശയ്ക്കൊപ്പം, പിതാവ് അപ്രദീക്ഷിതമായി നടപ്പാക്കിയ ഏകപക്ഷീയവും, തീര്ത്തും പ്രാദേശീയവുമായ ആരാധനക്രമപരിഷ്കാരങ്ങള്‍ സമൂഹത്തില്‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിട്ടുള്ള സംഘര്‍ഷാവസ്ഥ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പറഞ്ഞു മനസ്സിലാക്കുക എന്നതായിരുന്നു ദൌത്യസംഘത്തിന്റെ ഉദ്ദേശം. ഇരുന്നൂറിലധികം അംഗങ്ങള്‍ ഒപ്പിട്ട നിവേദനം അവര്‍ പിതാവിന് സമര്‍പ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

Is this a Syro Malabar or Malayalam Church? If it is Syro Malabar what does the "Syro" mean? The tradition of this church comes from Middle East which is Syrian. As long as the "Syro" is there in the name, then we have to follow the Syrian tradition. If we do not want to follow the syrian tradition, then there is no need of this cathedral or this diocese.

I read in Theeppantham that many people are teaching our Bishop a lesson by cutting monthly subscription. Now the weekly collection is $ 7000.00 or more. This is not bad at all, especially during summer.
Lesson: People who said that they will not pay are those who never paid a penny.

I Humbly request every one to pray one "OUR FATHER" a day for next 15 days for Bishop's repentance and to get guidance from the "HOLLY SPIRIT".He is guiding by saten now,no one but only pray can solve this problem.

I believe Your Church is an Indian Church.In 1998 VHP president announced at Delhi in a BJP rally that they like Christians in India better than Muslims. Because Christians in India better adopted Indian culture and civilization and become a better Indian Church (He never visited Palai). Christians have asimilated Hindu culture in to their daily life and religious aspects like wedding, death semans, Hindu names,language, dress and so on. But Muslims yet to come in to Indian way. They keep a distance from Indian culture by keeping their own religious practices, names, Urudu Language.
Dear Christians, Since your Bishop is in America, He can do anything he wants. In India, it will be better to practise Indian tradition rather Syrian traditions. You will be stoned faster and soon by RSS, BJP or VHP as soon as they know that you are Syrians. Please do not make mistakes in your life while living in India or living as an Indians
I believe all church-loving people in Chicago should sign this memorandum. It will send a strong message to the Bishop. But knowing bishops and priests for a long time, I really doubt if anything is going to happen. They are tough. It may take stronger actions to change their mind.
To the Anony comment regarding $7000.00 weekly collection: I am sure you never read Church Bulletin or understand English well. What I saw in church bulletin was 3445.00. Thats about 50% of what we used to collect in old ( with sweet memories) church ! ! !

If you want to build churches to make BJP, VHP, and RSS, happy, you will be disappointed. They would not be happy about us being in communion with the Pope in Rome.
Recently I was at meeting were a Hindu Indian American was talking to an audience about the diversity in India. He mentioned that the Syrian Orthodox Christians in India are one of first forms of Christianity in the world. I wonder why he did not mention the Syrian Catholics. May be because we are not keeping our own identity.

hmmm.. thats a valid argument. I am not sure about this financial numbers but 'am sure that 200 people who signed the letter to Bishop might have paid some pennies to Church :)
for building a church we need money as well as a good number of parishners who devote their time!

I thought you had already sent a memorandum to all the Syro Malabar bishops including His Beatitude Mar Varkey Vithayathil and the Prefect of the Oriental Congregation. His Beatitude is very busy now because he is not only the Head of this Church but also the President of the CBCI. So he doesn't have much time to do his job as the Head of this Prticular Church. Since he does not have much background on Syro Malabar church, the priests in Ernakulam don't obey him. Not only that he is an import from the CSSR Congregation. So his formation was mainly in Latin. That may be the reason why he supported the violation of the Synodal decision of the year 2000 (celebration of the Holy Qurbana in a unified manner). Or may be he is afraid of the priests in Ernakulam. What can this imported old man do with these indisciplined priests and bishops?. Now all the Syro Malabar dioceses are united in two things: 1) making Saints, Blesseds and Servants of God on earth and 2)the fight against the LDF Government.
To the above comment: my understanding is, it is bishop Angadiath that does not obey the Major Archbishop. And he does not care for the people either.

Who's your first major bishop? Late Mar Antony Padiyara. He was transferred to EKM Diocess where there is no curtain any churches in Ernakulam or Angamaly , but didn't force any one to do what he learned or taught or practiced in his life.Appreciate Him.Please don't split our church in behalf of some of the Bishops in kerala. I think Cardinal Vithayathil has no stand. No matter whether our church has veil or not, he would bless it. He blessed our church which has veil. He would bless it even if there is no veil. So he has no stand.
Both Mar Padiyara and Mar Vithayathil are imported from Latin Church. That is the reason why both did not have any stand on the eccelesial identity of the Syro Malabar church. They both could not implement discipline among the priests in Ernakulam Archdiocese. Now Ernakulam is a "Kulam". Nobody is there to question anything. If Mar Vithayathil cannot dicipline the Ernakulam priests, how can he discipline the priests and bishops of the entire Syro Malabar Church. He lost confidence of the other brother bishops. He failed to implement many of the decisions of the Holy Synod. His Pastoral letters has no value. Even now some priests are not following his instuctions regarding the administration of the Holy Sacramnets.(i.e. giving baptism, Chrismation and communion together). A spiritual leader should be strong in his convictions and implementing the Church teachings and the Synodal decisions. Of course he is a nice man; a good religious priest and a retreat master. Discipline and Spirituality go side by side. There won't be any spirituality in a Church where there is no discipline. This is the big problem of the Syro Malabar Church now.
Reply to the above comment: Well, after Sr Alphonsa is raised into sainthood, we will make Bishops Powathil, Pallickaparambil and Angadiath saints. So how come the majority of the bishops don't follow powathil and pallicka, i don't know.

If some one forces us to believe in something lese tommarow, what you do, would go with them or you stand with the biblical teaching? Ask yourself.
There are about 7 billion people on earth, and there are many religions and many types of worship places that you might have seen; have you ever seen a VEIL in their worship places. Some wicked people’s ides is not considered the voice of all.
The gospel is defined as the good news concerning Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, according to the scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). As Paul warns in Galatians 1 about false prophets and false teachers

Gal 1:8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Gal 1:10For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Let the light shine on us; remove the VEIL and ClaverLotusCross from the church. Put the real cross in its right place and venerate and credit to one cross in the ALTAR.

He SMC-Chicago Priests along with the Bishop betrayed the community and they humiliated the Indian Catholics.
The VIEL and ClaverLotus Cross represent their drop in faith and values in the perspective of their biblical teachings that they profess. Our bishops and priests become a stone age born-again’s from July 3rd 2008 onward by bringing VEIL and pagan cross into the 21st century stream. They failed in their act or power of defending, or guarding the faith of the 90% of the Syro Malabar Catholics. They need to understand that the whole SMC is only a drop in the global catholic stream.
The SMC-Chicago priests and bishops need to admit their mistakes and blunders by removing the VEIL and the pagan cross from our church. Our new cathedral becomes a zero church; a building becomes a church only if its contents are appropriate in the biblical perception that gives a prayerful atmosphere for a person who enters in.
What a beautiful church in its absence of the VEIL and hanging Rings. The altar is a total mess without any spiritual order.
