സെപ്റ്റംബര്‍ മുതല്‍ ചിക്കാഗോ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ ദേവാലയത്തിലെ കുര്‍ബാന സമയങ്ങളില്‍ മാറ്റങ്ങള്‍ വരുത്തിക്കൊണ്ട് പുതിയ അറിയിപ്പ്. പല അഴിച്ചുപണികളും നടത്തിയ ശേഷം ശനിയാഴ്ച വൈകിട്ട് അടിയന്തിരമായി കൂടിയ കമ്മിറ്റിയില്‍ പാസ്സാക്കി, ഇന്നാണ് അറിയിപ്പുണ്ടായത്‌.
ജനദ്രോഹപരവും കുടുംബദ്രോഹപരവുമായ രീതിയിലാണ് കുര്‍ബാന സമയങ്ങള്‍ നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് സ്വന്തം മാതാപിതാക്കളോടൊപ്പം മലയാളം കുര്‍ബാനയില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുക അസാധ്യമാണെന്നതാണ് ഇതിന്റെ സവിശേഷത. ഈ സംവിധാനമനുസരിച്ച് കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് കുര്‍ബാന കാണാതെ മറ്റൊരു ഗത്യന്തരവുമില്ലത്രെ . മലയാളത്തെ നമ്മുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നും സമൂഹത്തില്‍ നിന്നും പള്ളിയങ്കണത്തില്‍ നിന്നും പാടെ നിര്‍മാര്‍ജനം ചെയ്യാനുള്ള ഒരു ഗൂഢാലൊചനയാണ് ഇവിടെ നടക്കുന്നത് എന്ന് വ്യക്തമാണ്.
കഴിഞ്ഞ ഓശാന ഞായറാഴ്ച പുതിയ കുര്‍ബാന സമയങ്ങള്‍ അച്ചടിച്ചു പള്ളിയില്‍ വിതരണം ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. അത് പിന്നീട് കൂടിയ പൊതുയോഗം അംഗീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് സൌകര്യപൂര്‍വ്വം CCD ക്ലാസുകളില്‍ പോകാനും അതെ സമയം മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ക്കൊപ്പം മലയാളം കുര്‍ബാനയില്‍ പങ്ക്‌ കൊള്ളുവാനും ഉതകുന്ന വിധമുള്ള ഒരു ക്രമീകരണമായിരുന്നു അത്. എന്നാല്‍ ചില വ്യക്തികളുടെ, വ്യക്തമായി പറഞ്ഞാല്‍, DRE മൂലയില്‍ പാപ്പച്ചന്റെ സ്വാര്‍ത്ഥതാല്പര്യങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് വഴങ്ങി വികാരിയച്ചന്‍ അടിയന്തിര യോഗം വിളിച്ചു കൂട്ടുകയായിരുന്നു. ശീല-ക്ലാവര്‍ കുരിശ് പ്രശ്നം പോലെ ഇതിന്റെയും ഉത്തരവാദിത്ത്വം ബിഷപ്പിന്റെ തലയില്‍ വച്ചുകൊടുത്ത് തടിയൂരാമെന്ന് വികാരിയച്ചന്‍ വിചാരിക്കേണ്ട.
ഇവിടുത്തെ ജനങ്ങള്‍ കോടികള്‍ മുടക്കി ഈ പള്ളി പണിതിരിക്കുന്നത് വികാരിയച്ചനോ, മെത്രാനൊ, മറ്റ് കുട്ടി നേതാക്കള്‍ക്കോ തോന്നിയവാസം ചെയ്യാനല്ല. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പഠിപ്പിക്കാനുമല്ല . തങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള്‍ ഏത് കുര്‍ബാന കാണണം, ഏത് ഭാഷയിലുള്ള കുര്‍ബാന കാണണം , ഇതൊക്കെ നിശ്ചയിക്കേണ്ടത് അവരുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കളാണ്. അല്ലാതെ അച്ഛനും കപ്യാരുമല്ല. മൂലയില്‍ പാപ്പച്ചനുമല്ല. കുഡുംബസ്നേഹികളായ മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ സഭാധികാരികളുടെ ഈ കുത്സിത നീക്കങ്ങള്‍ക്കെതിരെ ശക്തിയായിതന്നെ പ്രതികരിക്കേണ്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ശീല ക്ലാവര്‍ കുരിശ് കാര്യത്തിലും കുര്‍ബാന സമയ ക്രമീകരനത്തിലും status quo നില നിര്‍ത്തുക തന്നെ വേണം . കുരങ്ങിന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ പൂമാല കിട്ടിയ പോലെയാണ് പുതിയ പള്ളി കിട്ടിയപ്പോള്‍ സഭാധികാരികള്‍. അവരുടെ തന്നിഷ്ടം ഇടവക മക്കളുടെമേലും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളുടെമേലും അടിച്ചേല്‍പ്പിക്കാനുള്ള ഇത്തരം പ്രവണതകള്‍ക്ക് വിരാമം ഇട്ടില്ലെങ്കില്‍ നമ്മുടെ പള്ളിയുടെ ഭാവി തന്നെ അപകടത്തിലാകും. ഇന്നലെ വന്നു കയറിയ കുട്ടിനേതാക്കന്മാരും വൈദീക പ്രമാണിമാരും നമ്മുടെ ഈ മിനിസ്ട്രിയുടെ സ്ഥാപകഉദ്ദേശം തന്നെ മറക്കുകയാണ്. വരും തലമുറയ്ക്ക് നമ്മുടെ സീറോ മലബാര്‍ സംസ്ക്കാരവും, നമ്മുടെ ഭാഷയും, നമ്മുടെ കലകളും പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തി കൊടുക്കുക എന്നൊരുദ്ദേശവും ഈ മിനിസ്ട്രിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഇന്നിവര്‍ ഇതെല്ലാം മറക്കുകയാണ് . സഭാധികാരികളുടെ ഇത്തരം ജനഹിതവിരുദ്ധവും ജനദ്രോഹപരമായ നടപടികള്‍ക്കെതിരെ ശബ്ദമുയര്‍ത്താന്‍ സഭാ സ്നേഹികളായ എല്ലാ മാതാപിതാക്കളോടും ഞങ്ങള്‍ വീണ്ടും അഭ്യര്ധിക്കുകയാണ്.

ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു വായിച്ചാല്‍ ഈ സമയവിവര പട്ടികയില്‍ ഒളിച്ചു വച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ജനദ്രോഹപരമായ നീക്കങ്ങള്‍ ആര്ക്കും മനസ്സിലാക്കാം. മലയാളം കുര്‍ബാനയുടെ സമയം CCD യും, അത് കഴിഞ്ഞ ഉടനെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് കുര്‍ബാനയുടെ അതെ സമയം മലയാളം ക്ലാസ്സും വയ്ക്കുകവഴി രണ്ടു കിളികളെയാണ് ഒരു വെടിക്ക് ഇവര്‍ വീഴ്ത്തുന്നത്. മലയാളത്തെ മനപ്പൂര്‍വം ഉത്മൂലനാശം ചെയ്യാനുള്ള സംഘടിതമായ ഒരു ഒത്തുകളിയാണ് ഇവിടെ നടക്കുന്നത്. നമ്മുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള്‍ മലയാളം കുര്‍ബാന കാണരുതെന്നും മലയാളം പഠിക്കരുതെന്നും ഇവര്ക്ക് നിര്‍ബന്ധമാണ്‌. ഉദാ. ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ പ്രധാന മലയാളം കുര്‍ബാന പത്തരക്കാണല്ലോ. ആ കുര്ബാനയാണിപ്പോള്‍ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ആക്കി മാറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഇതില്‍ നിന്നും നമുക്കു മനസ്സിലാക്കാം പള്ളിയിലെ മലയാള വിരുദ്ധ ലോബ്ബിയുടെ ശക്തി. മറ്റു മാര്‍ഗങ്ങള്‍ ഇല്ലാതാക്കി എന്തിന് നമ്മുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളുടെ തൊണ്ടയിലൂടെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് കുത്തിയിരക്കുവാന്‍ ഇവര്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു? ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പ്രേമം മൂത്ത ഇവര്ക്ക് എന്തുകൊണ്ട് 12 മണിയുടെ കുര്‍ബാന ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ആക്കിക്കൂടാ? കാരണം, അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്‌താല്‍ പള്ളി കാലിയായിരിക്കും. ഒരീച്ചകുഞ്ഞും ഇവരുടെ ആ കുര്‍ബാന കാണാനുണ്ടാകില്ല. അതവര്‍ക്കറിയാം. ബഹുഭൂരിപക്ഷം കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളും CCD യും കൂടി, മലയാളം കുര്‍ബാനയിലും പങ്ക്‌ കൊണ്ട്, മലയാളം ക്ലാസ്സിലും പോയി നേരത്തെ വീട് പറ്റാന്‍ നോക്കും. അത് തന്നെ കാരണം.
ഇവരുടെ ഈ വിധേനയുള്ള ജനദ്രോഹ നടപടികള്‍ക്കെതിരെ ഈ വൈകിയ വേളയിലെങ്കിലും മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ ശബ്ദമുയര്‍ത്തെണ്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

What is the change in mass/ccd time?
If this is true, this is an encroachment one the rights of parents. 12 idiots have no right to decide the fate of our children. We need another petition drive to convince the vicar.
I fully Agree. The new schedule of mass and CCD is outrageous. The motto, from the beginning of our own church was to raise our kids in our culture. Fr. Jose Kandathikudi promoted (actually enforced) a segregation between "ABCD" and "FOB". That shameful deed kind of faded out once he left and new kids born in US became more adaptive of the our culture. The Church did a huge part to make this to happen.
Now, the new schedule forces kids to attend "Malayaly version of English Mass" by themselves unless they wait till 12:00 Noon. If I want to raise my kids "English way", I have a Catholic Church in walking distance and only $250.00/Year(No Additional for CCD). Why this enforcement ? Why separate kids from their parents ? It is extremely shameful for an ethnic church. It has come to a point that the church belongs to a 10 or 20 people, rest of the 1100+ families just shut up and obey.
Whoever is in the committee (12) have no sense. They just go there, one fool presents this new schedule, everyone else say "Aaay " ...done ! ! ! Community needs people who can think out of the box and make unbiased decision. If one committee member's son or daughter is so called "I jon-no malayalam" , everybody attend English Mass.
Time for A clean sweep overdue ! !

Syro = you are a zero. Achen's do not care almeny. They care themselves. We have 2 achens in parish and 5 or more in the Bishops house. Still not enough achen's for the services. Fr. Jose Kandathikudy was alone and he had enough time to manage all these. Achen's will make the schedule to their convenience because you you let them. You take the home equity loan and feed them. What a country America! I used to be a syro.. not any more. Instead of petition, compaign 'not to pay' and that will help. If you want a English mass go to real English mass.
I logged on to our church web site and the last bulletin is May 4th. No updates after that. 2 full time paid achens, 1 paid secretary and 12 committee members, Core committee, kitchen committee. No one has time to update the current bulletin. Any party? They all there. Does any one cares?

We should eliminate the whole English from our church. No English mass, no English CCD, etc. This is a Malayalam church. The children have to get used to it. Learn Malayalam. We wish to participate in Sunday Mass with our children.
Let Fr. Kandathikudy serve this church one more term. Let him come and straighten all the mess here. He is a good friend of Mar Vithayathil. May be he can do something on it.
When Kandathikudy comes we will ask for Fr. Antony. That is our style. I mean malayalee style.
I am sad to see that respecting teachers, catechists, priests and bishops are not part of your culture. It is part of my culture. Mass timings and the language in which children should see the Syro Malabar Qurbana are things that should be decided based on majority opinion in a PTO meeting along with the priests. Please try to have a PTO meeting by talking to the authorities. Theepantham readers and writers are from all over the world. They do not necessarily understand the situation in Chicago.

There sould be a reasons to react to the realities. Otherwise you will be called "Raskals and Rowdys"..
With the new schedule, you can very well go with your kids to Malayalam Mass/Masses. Actually there are 3 Malayalam Masses on Sunday Morning 8.30, 10.30 and 12.15. And there is a 9.30 English Mass.
Personally I want my kid to be in the English mass (I bet many kids want too). I don't even fully understand the actual Malayalam Mass. How do I expect my kids to follow the Malayalam Mass.. Be reasonable folks.. You may say Malayalam culture etc.. Culture is not language alone.. But the fact is, our kids will not follow our Malayalam language fully. I dare to challenge any Mallus in the church "to let their kids speak proper Malayalam". Some kids may... provided that they spend a lot of time in Kerala.. And tell me the truth.. Do U speak pure Malayalam at Home? No..
And it's time to come to the reality... It looks like you will ask the USA local schools to start teaching in "Malayalam" too...
So the schedue in the church is proper and very appropriate. Cheers to whoever made it.

Restore the old schedule. We do not need English mass. If somebody needs it so bad, like the guy above with the long whiney comment, do it in the auditorium. This is a Malayalam church. Period. Teach the CCD in Malayalam also. If really not satisfied, go to American church.

The church in Bellwood is an American Syro Malabar Church. There are members who are more comfortable with either English or Malayalam. Regardless of the language it is the mass according to the Syro Malabar Rite that is celebrated. Those who speak Malayalam and English are equally important to our church family. Remember that Vatican II asked the entire catholic church to celebrate mass in the local languages. If someone thought that it was our DRE's decision, it is a misunderstanding.

Contrary to what they preach, this church is anti-children. They are trying to undermine our culture and language.They are anti-malayalam. Theeppantham is right on this matter.
When is the new schedule starting? It is a really great schedule. This gives everyone the option to attend CCD, Malayalam class and Qurbana in the language of choice by the parents and children. Congratulations to all those who worked behind creating it.

To the guy who said the new Mass Schedule is great: YOU ARE AN IDIOT. At what convenient time can the parents and their children participate in a Malayalam Mass together? That was 10:45 mass. Now that mass is English. why don"t they makeTHE 10:45 Mass Malayalam, which was the way it always was, and make the 12:00 O'Clock mass English? Why not?
What you people are doing is not fair. We want 10:45 mass Malayalam. We want to see mass with children on Sunday. If you do not change this schedule, our family is not coming to church anymore
Most children were already attending the English CCD and English Syro Malabar Mass at 10:30last year. Several of those people are not attending Malayalam classes. Some of them are way past the age to attend Malayalam classes. What is wrong with attending Malayalam Mass with the children at 8:00 AM or 12:00 Noon depending on how early you can get to the church? Those who have no children attending CCD or those who like their children to attend English mass might like the 9:30 AM Malayalam mass for themselves. How many children who are born and brought up in Chicago understand the Bible readings and Homily in Malayalam? When we had Syriac Masses before the 1960s, the readings and homily were still in Malayalam. When the English mass was celebrated in Alphonsa hall at 10:30 AM, it was always full of children. Are those children not ours?
If we are teaching CCD in English, then all the children should have the opportunity to attend the English Qurbana in a convenient time. Attending Sunday Liturgy is an important part of our faith formation. Teaching Malayalam language should not be our priority.Faith formation should be our priority. Let the local Malayalee Associations take care of the Malayalam teaching job. From all these Theppantham comments, I think, more than our children our adults need a faith formation based on church history and eccelesiology. From a church stand point, our focus should be on our Sunday Liturgical Celebration in the proper manner in a suitably designed church and our faith formation based on our liturgy, ecclesiology and spirituality. That will avoid a lot of confusion regarding Madbha,Qestroma, Haikla, Bema,Santuary Veil, Bet-Gazze, Bet-Sahde, Sleeva(not Clavar or Manakayan Crosses), Tronos(Altar), Evangalion(Gospel), Icons of Our Virgin Mary carrying infant Jesus and our father in faith St. Thomas the Apostle, Lecterns for Engarta(Epistles) and Qerjane(Old Testment), Thaksa, liturgical vestments, soseppa,liturgical seasons, Liturgy of the Hours, Qurbana, Raza etc. Let Theeppantham take an intiative for starting this kind of a faith formation in this Eparchy. I am sure our Cathedral Vicar Fr. Thundathil will help us in this regard.
I feel sorry for the above comment that Theeppantam takes an initiative for faith formation. Theeppantham is not an official stage of our church. This indicates a tragic state of our syromalabar church. I believe several anonymous comments about church history, sleeva cross, liturgy, theology are written by some clergies of our church. This is a tragedy of our church. This means our church does not have a stage for its laities to teach the above. I can understand this, being our diocese is in infant stage. But our pithav H.E has to think about starting some formal courses for its laities. Our prayer meeting was a right place for this. But unfortunately it didn't evolve to that kind of discussion forum/knowledge base teaching because of multiple reasons which I don't want to specify. Everyone who attends these prayer meetings know they are just a get together. Fr. Jose Kandathikudy did a good job; but unfortunately it didn't grow to a higher level. It is the time for our diocese to start a discussion forum and/or a class for our laities. Changanacherry Archdiocese is a good role model for this. They have mulitple courses such as CLT, Mar Thoma Theology school etc. We in USA have very good priests who can teach us church history, liturgy, theology etc and it is the time for our pithav to think about it.

New Mass/CCD Schedule Follows
8:00 a.m to 9:00 a.m. Malayalam Mass (1) and CCD (1)

Now ..Is this schedule is not GOOD? There are no changes from the old schedule. It's convenient for 80% or plus people. If you want your "Pure Mallu" kid to be in the malayala mass, I have the right my "Manglish Kid" to attend English Mass and attend English CCD too..
Now please go to 10.45 mass with your "Mallu Kids". You could very well attend one of the CCDs too.
The FACT is satisfying "Everybody" is impossible in a huge community like this... The better thing is to go with the max crowd. And that's what the church did.
As I meantioned again, "Theeppantham.. Please write the TRUTH". As a BLOG, you have access to lots of people and you are doing a good job in confusing people. "Keep It Up". Comeon.. It's time to growup. Be reasonable and Speak the TRUTH and Write the TRUTH.
What I have seen is, you try to take advantageus by bending the TRUTH..

1. Mass timings - Theeppantham gave wrong Info. (Check my detail message above)
2. Earlier they wrote "the Thirunal Stage was 30K. The total expense for the program and the stage was 12K. Having a Big Celebration, I guess we can afford 12K in total.
3. Sound System - The church is not susceptable to non sofisticated sound. You have to have little costlier system to get atleast some better sound in a biger hall like that. So 100K is being spent and it's a NEED.
4. Thirasheela - Who Cares? Afterall it just closes and opens once. What need to happen is "It must be properly fit into the desinn".. So spend some more money and make it nice.
