ശാന്തഗംഭീര വദനവും, ഭക്തസാന്ദ്ര ഭാവവുമായി, ധൂപക്കുറ്റി ആട്ടി ക്കൊണ്ട് വെളിച്ചപ്പാടപ്പച്ചന്‍ ഏറ്റവും മുമ്പില്‍. തൊട്ടു പിന്‍പില്‍ കറുത്ത ക്ലാവര്‍ കുരിശ് വാനോളം പൊക്കിപ്പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ജോസ് കടവില്‍. തൊട്ടു പിന്നില്‍ കാവി വസ്ത്ര ധാരികളായ ശുശ്രൂഷി സംഘം. അതിന് പിന്നില്‍ വൈദീക വൃന്ദം, പിന്നെ ബിഷപ്പ് അങ്ങാടിയത്ത്.
ഇവരുടെ എഴുന്നള്ളത്തോടെ 2009 ലെ വിശുദ്ധ വാര മാമാങ്കത്തിന് ഇതോടെ തുടക്കമായി.
പതിവു പോലെ അപ്പച്ചന് തന്റെ ധൂപക്കുട്ടികൊണ്ട് വെളിച്ചപ്പാടിനെപ്പോലെ ഓടി പ്പായുകയായിരുന്നു. പക്ഷെ പ്രസ്തുത കുറ്റി അദ്ദേഹം മരിച്ചു കുലുക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും കിലുക്കം കുറവായിരുന്നു. കാരണം മൂപ്പില്‍ അറിയാതെ മറ്റു ശുശ്രൂഷികള്‍ മണിയുടെ കാ എടുത്തു മാറ്റിയിരുന്നുവെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു. ഏതായാലും പണ്ടത്തെപ്പോലെ കിലുക്കമുണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.
പെരുന്നാളിന് കുട്ടികളുടെ കയ്യില്‍ കിലുക്കാം പെട്ടി കിട്ടുംപോലെയാണ് വിശേഷ ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ അപ്പച്ചന് ധൂപക്കുറ്റി കയ്യില്‍ കിട്ടിയാല്‍. കുലുക്കി, കിലുക്കി മനുഷ്യന് വട്ടു പിടിപ്പിക്കും!
പുറത്തു പോലീസിന്റെ പിരളിയായിരുന്നു. പാര്‍ക്കിന്ഗ് നിരോധനം! ആദ്യമായി ഷട്ടില്‍ ബസ് കാണാനുള്ള ഭാഗ്യമുണ്ടായി! ജയില്‍ പുള്ളികളെപ്പോലെ രണ്ടു മൂന്നു നിരപരാധികള്‍ അകത്തുണ്ടായിരുന്നു!
ബിഷപ്പ് പാട്ട് തുടങ്ങിയതെ ഞാനോര്‍ത്തു മരമണി പതിവിലും നേരത്തെ അടിച്ചോ എന്ന്! പിതാവിന്റെ പാട്ട് പോകുന്ന ഗതി കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ ഏതായാലും ആന്റണിയച്ചന്‍ വളരെ ഭവ്യതയോടെ മൈക്കെടുത്ത് വാഴ്ത്തി, ആശീര്‍വദിച്ച്, സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്ത്, സ്വന്തം ജോണ്‍ സ്ട്ടീ അച്ഛന്റെ നേര്‍ക്ക്‌ നീട്ടി. അദ്ദേഹം അത് കിട്ടിയപാടെ ബിഷപ്പിനെയും മറ്റു അച്ചന്മാരെയും വഴിയോരത്ത് തള്ളിക്കൊണ്ട് രണ്ടും കല്‍പ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ആഞ്ഞു പിടിച്ചു പാടി.
പെസഹായുടെ കൊയര്‍ നന്നായില്ല എന്ന് പറയാന്‍ പറ്റില്ല, എന്ന് മാത്രമല്ല ഒരു വിധം നന്നായിരുന്നു എന്ന് തന്നെ സമ്മദിക്കേണ്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു. സത്യം പറയണമല്ലോ, സൌണ്ട് ചീത്തയായിരുന്നോ എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചാല്‍, അല്ലായിരുന്നു. എന്ത് പറ്റി എന്നറിയില്ല. പതിവു കൂവലും ബഹളവും ഉണ്ടായില്ല. ഹല്ലെലുയ്യാ!
എന്നാല്‍ ജോണ്‍സ്ട്ടീ അച്ഛന്റെ പാട്ടിലുള്ള ഇത്തമ്മയുടെ മതിപ്പ് അല്‍പ്പം കുറഞ്ഞു. അവള്‍ ഉദ്ദേശിച്ച പോലെ അദ്ദേഹം അത്ര വിളങ്ങിയില്ല എന്ന് അവള്‍ തന്നെ സമ്മദിച്ചു. സാധാരണ അങ്ങനെ ഒന്നും സമ്മദിച്ചുതരുന്ന മുതലല്ല, എന്റെ ഇത്തമ്മ!
നമ്മുടെ പ്രധാന പാട്ടുകാരന്‍ ബെന്നിയുടെ വലതു കൈക്ക് കോച്ചു വാദം പിടിച്ചെന്നും ഇത്തമ്മ വളരെ രഹസ്യമായി എന്നോട് പറഞ്ഞു. അദ്ദേഹം പാടുമ്പോള്‍ മുഴുവന്‍ സമയം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൈ കോച്ചി വലിക്കുകയായിരുന്നത്രേ!
"ദൈവദോഷം പറയല്ലേ, ഇത്തമ്മേ!" ഞാന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. "അവന്‍ പാട്ടിന് താളം പിടിക്കുന്നതാണ്."
"അതിനവന്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ കൈകൊണ്ടു കാണിക്കേണ്ട കാര്യം വല്ലതുമുണ്ടോ ," ഇത്തമ്മ പറഞ്ഞു. "നേരിട്ടു പറയേണ്ട കാര്യമല്ലേയുള്ളൂ!"

This time the “thoomakutty vellichappade” performed more decently in the church.
Unfortunately our church authorities downgrade themselves to a stage of total negligence to the word of God. The Vicar finally concluded his Easter messages with repeated thanksgiving, he scourged Jesus again, by his comments “If you want to see the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, you may need to go to the parish hall”. However, more than 75% of faithful remained in the cathedral itself without attending the dram in the parish hall. Tomorrow there are chances that you may be driven out of the church to support their narrow minded pagan belief.
Why the new cathedral is not worthy for the full Good Friday and Easter service?
Why they publicly sprayed perfumes to the crucifix on Good Friday before the cross veneration? Which one is holy? For them the veil and the claver cross are holy.
In front of the holy altar, we all are sinners and we need to be humble ourselves, then why some of the lectionaries kiss bishops hand in the altar. WHY DID THE BISHOP ALLOWS THAT?
A Catholic church is not like other large assembly areas, such as a sports stadium or a concert hall. In a church, there is no place for mere viewers. Mass is not something we watch but something we do. The whole area is the "a very holy playing field" and we are the team; the whole church is the "stage" and we are the cast. We act; God is honored. From wherever we stand in the church, our attention is drawn to the focal area of the liturgical action. The altar is the holy table upon which we celebrate the Lord's Supper. It functions as both banquet table and altar of sacrifice; the Mass is both Holy Thursday (meal) and Good Friday (sacrifice).

We the St. Thoams and Syro Malabar Catholics in USA deserve more from our mother church. We came to this country from far away land to support both our families in USA and our relative in India. Indian Catholics saving is one of the main sources of income to Indian churches and they are contributing substantially to the Kerala’s local economy too. However everybody wants only our money, nobody is taking care of our spiritual needs in USA. We become a frustrated community in USA after the inception of the Chicago based Syro Malabar Catholic Diocese under Bishop Angadiath. The Chicago diocese failed to reach out the faithful effectively and the bishop lost his credibility as a good shepherd. He put the controversial veil and claver cross in the altar of the church and many faithful and their young kids are going away from the church. Bishop Angadiath has no right to impose his personal belief to the rest of Syro Malabar Catholics in USA. Please intervene to this situation and transfer the current Chicago cathedral authorities (Bishop and the Vicar) to somewhere else and help to unite the believers.
The following excerpt from cannon law is very much applicable to both the cathedral Vicar and to the Bishop.
Can. 1740 When the ministry of any pastor becomes harmful or at least ineffective for any cause, even through no grave personal negligence, the diocesan bishop can remove him from the parish.
Can. 1741-1,3,5 The causes for which a pastor can be removed legitimately from his parish are especially the following:
1/ a manner of acting which brings grave detriment or disturbance to ecclesiastical communion;
3/ loss of a good reputation among upright and responsible parishioners or an aversion to the pastor which it appears will not cease in a brief time;
5/ poor administration of temporal affairs with grave damage to the Church whenever another remedy to this harm cannot be found.
