You touched many people's heart by "ഒരു വിശ്വാസിയുടെ വിലാപം". I myself and many others have the same feeling and repentance towards speaking against the Syro Sabha Authority. However, it comes to a point I strongly feel there must be some changes from the deep root.
I think the following must be adapted
1. Voice is doing a very strong job bringing a revolution within our church. It’s time for “Change”.
2. Please focus only on Claver, Sheela, Division and Politics in Sabha etc. Do not write about individuals. That way the voice is becoming a spiritual magazine
3. Continue the same level of writing with deep belief in God. I am sure Voice is written by a set of believers.

Due to the belief, and many priests, bishop in the family etc. we cannot say anything against the church leaders here. But, very sorry to say that we cannot accept and follow many of their actions and teaching’s.

I am a SM Catholic living in USA.I am here because of better opportunities and better job.I thank God for that. I don't see any problem my priest and Bishop living in better situation. I know they can do this only because people like me contributing to church and Diocese.Because our priests appointed to a parish cannot work somewhere else and support themselves ,like Marthoma priests and others. So it is our responsibility to support them (home ,food, car, insurance etc.) As long as we are the member of the church we must do it.
I don't know why some of our members thinking other way!! You don't have to give more than you can afford or more than they need!!!Don't give extra!!!, But It is our responsibility to support our achan and Diocese. I see the most criticism coming from non paying members!!!too baad!!!!

ഒരു ജോലീം ഇല്ല. ഒരു ജോലിക്കും പോകേമില്ല. സദാ സമയൊം കംപ്യൂട്ടറിന്റെ മുന്നില്‍. ഒരു മെയിലിംഗ് കമ്പനീല്‍ ജോലി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതാ. ഒരു ഫീമെയിലിനെ ഫീലു ചെയ്യാന്‍ ചെന്നു ആ പണിയും പോയി . അകത്തായില്ല എന്ന് മാത്രം. ഇപ്പോള്‍ സദാ സമയൊം പല പല ഫീമെയിലിന് ഈമെയില്‍ ചെയ്യലാ പണി. പിന്നെ ഈ ബ്ലോഗ് എഴുത്തും.

you are absolutely right. i agree with that . but you haven't seen the dark side of this. parishioners have no problem in contributing , but the money intended for some other purposes must never be stolen and transferred. i hope you got the message .if not you are a moron.
I am a SMC member,
There are many spiritually vibrant and politically capable priest and bishops of SMC in India; please invite them for the faithful in USA. As you all aware, during the time of late Cardinal Joseph Parekattil and Dr. Mar Sebastian Mankuzhikary, the church flourished and expanded to many north Indian mission locations and the church was able to bring families more close to Jesus and bible. Later in 1970s through the charismatic retreats the church was able to strengthen the faith based families in Kerala.
In USA, the main problem is that we are always far away from bible and the church is not encouraging bible based religion. The SMC –Chicago do not want us to read bible, because their practices are against the biblical and catholic teaching and most of the Sunday bible readings are quick picks to support their hidden agenda. We are still in the religious grammar school and the same priest is still teaching the same grammar since last 9 years and some priests stage our church as their tharavadu property. When the faithful seriously talk about bible, biblical practices and teaching we stamp them as Pentecost, because we do not what they are talking about. Too bad, please read bible and mark yourself, do not always be the ass kissers of evil doers of the SMC-Chicago.
The Catholic Church has being bombarded and wounded from the beginning by some few priests and some self motivated biased bishops only. All the faithful were always very loyal to the church, we the faithful who makes the church and we should not allow their dirty dram in our church. Without the faithful they are no more. No wonder, as per recent survey SMC is one of the diminishing catholic religious sect. Therefore it is your call to reach out and conquer Jesus for you and for your generations. To do this first clean ourselves, we need to clean the bad elements from the cathedral in Chicago and pray for a good priests and bishop for us to preserve our faith in USA.

I know fr. Jacob Kattackal for long time . To be honest with you he is not a money hungry priest and he is old he don't need any money.He is a special priest with lot of knowledge.

We are asked to give 10% to God. What does that mean?
Does it mean give 10% to the church? May be give 10% to the priest? No. No.
Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me".
He also said, "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me".
Some of you might start screaming, 'but you have to give to the church too'. Yes, you need to support the church too. But buiding bigger and more expensive church building just to show off should not be supported.
Even now, some of you might still say, 'Coppel church has a big monthly bill, and it needs money'. Yes, it does need lot of money, and it had lot of money. It's pastor was fired for installing crucifix, and it's account was taken over by money hungry diocese.
People who pay the chuch has the responsibility and right to know where that money is being spent. Freezing the account, then refusing to restore the account, and refusing to disclose transaction that took place during the time account was froze, etc, made the diocese untrustworthy.
Since diocese is the owner of the property, lying to the people and threatening them to pay the church's bill is foolish behavior by diocese.
Live right. Then you don't need to worry about any curse.
Money can buy/bring good things and bad things.
If someone tells you that you will go to hell if you don't give money, then definitely don't give them money.
Then, ask yourself...
whether they need money.
why they need money.
what will they do with it if you give.
do they need as much as they asked.
how many others will give.
were you targeted in anyway because you are a nice person.
will they starve/die if you don't give money.
is the money being spent on what it was collected for.
any possibility your money can be put to better use such that many more deserving people will benefit from it.
Don't give to support someone's ego.
Don't give to satisfy your ego.

I do not think that any of the priests (including Bishop) here in SMC-USA ever brought a single person to Christ. But there are many Latin and SMC priests and other non-denominational churches and missionaries in India are really doing great job that for Christ. Therefore pray for those missionaries in India and help them financially also. They really need our help.
Bishop, first obey the pope, then obey and respect the law of the land. Do not bring your biased and forced unholy tactics to the faithful. The Bishop Angadiath forced his pagan belief to the faithful in USA and doing that he has already violated Caesar’s contribution in USA.

For all Catholics, Pope is our supreme authority and Vatican is the supreme source for all faith related matters and we always believe that pope is always foolproof in all religious and biblical teaching.
Bishop Angadiath is not following Pope’s direction and he is not following Vatican’s directions also. Therefore it is very difficult to follow and respect him as the Bishop of Syro Malabar community in USA. It has been proven that Bishop Angadiath is an anti-catholic.
Therefore it is not worth to contributing to the Chicago Syro Malabar Diocese.

If Fr.kattackal is not money hungry,what is he doing in a parish 8 long years making schemes to make money?. Why he does not want to voluntarily retire and go back to India? why does he minister to the spanish community and keep their donations to himself? I don't know Fr.Kattackal, but taking care of the spiritual needs of people is a priest's job. It doesn't matter what language they speak.
Money matters is a different animal altogether. I don't know what some of there Malayalee achans are thinking. I think they forgot why they chose priesthood and went to seminary.
Which church has the guts to share the financils and face an audit? NONE.
