By Tom Varkey - If the Bible is any indication, I strongly believe that God has started punishing our Bishop Mar Jacob Angadiath and his misguided advisers like Archbishop Powathil along with their supporters. Their crime: Abomination in the eyes of God. To illustrate the horror of their crime, let me take you to 1 Sam. Chapter 5.
- Here in 1 Sam. 5, we read about the Philistines capturing the Ark of the Covenant from the Israelites and what they did with it. They carried it to Ashdod and set the Ark beside Dagon, their idol god. Next morning, when the people rose early, to their surprise they saw Dagon their god fallen on his face on the ground before the Ark of the LORD. They took Dagon and put him back in his place. But the following morning when they rose, Dagon had again fallen on the ground. This time his head and hands had broken. What followed was a series of plagues among the Philistines who desecrated the Ark of the LORD by placing it side by side with their idol god, Dagon.
- Our Bishop and his cohorts have done something very similar. In some churches, they have put side by side with the Holy Crucifix their man-made idol, the so-called ‘Mar Thoma Cross’ which has by the way, nothing to do with St. Thomas. Ever since devastations of various kind have started and continue to ravage the entire Syro-Malabar Church unabatedly. Humiliation, absence of peace, group fighting, public rallies, fist-fighting, cussing other church members, bad mouthing of church elders, burning the Mar Thoma Cross in the streets of Changanacherry … and the like continue to plague the Syro-Malabar Church. If you are not convinced just look at the syromalabarvoice.blogspot.com, the blog of the Syro Malabar Church. Dear Bishop Powathil and your Excellency Mar Jacob Angadiath, I have bad news for you. You haven’t seen anything yet.
- In Jn. 3:14 Jesus himself described how his Cross should be: “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man MUST be lifted up.” Which part of MUST don’t you understand? The snake was erected on a pole. Now, where is the Son of Man on your cross? Even a child knows that is wrong with your Mar Thoma Cross – on it, the Savior is missing! But you have placed it side by side with the Crucifix as though they had equal value and status. What utter nonsense? What you have done is no different from what the Philistines did with the Ark of the Covenant. And therefore you must pay the price now. And the price to be paid is going to be extremely heavy as the people of the Savior on the Cross will be taking to the streets, taking to the courts and above all taking it to their Savior on the Cross to demonstrate to the world the horror of what you people have done. You have desecrated the temple of the living God with your idols!
- So here is my advice to your Excellency: Read Dan. 6:26-28. Know for yourself that your days are numbered – both for you and your idol, the Mar Thoma Cross. Fortunately though, no matter how unbelievable it may seem, our Savior on the Crucifix is a merciful God who is always compassionate (Lam. 3:22). He will forgive and show mercy even though time is running out on you. To show your repentance, you must get the Mar Thoma Cross from all the Syro-Malabar churches at the earliest. Keep only the Crucifix in the Syro-Malabar churches. If you are not willing, you may want to read Dan. 5:27-28. It says that you have been weighed on the scales and found wanting and therefore your kingdom will be crumbling in a matter of only a few days! Praise be to the merciful Savior on the Crucifix now and always!

Apology from Tom Varkey for the Honest Mistake!!
Tom Varkey, the author of the above Article sincerely apologizes for the honest mistake in not titling the article appropriately. The article’s title may be misleading especially to those who may not be familiar with my writing style and tone. I have always held the position that we should never be fostering hatred among one another and should never threaten or even bad mouth anybody when we write in this blog. I have even quoted Mt. 12:36 in which Jesus warns us that we would be held accountable for any careless words that we utter against our brothers and sisters. From this standpoint, it was definitely improper for me to title the above article the way I did. Therefore, I apologize for the honest mistake and ask for forgiveness from anyone whose feelings may have been hurt due to this error on my part.
I would never even think of making a physical threat against anybody who belongs to the ranks of the supporters of the Mar Thoma Cross no matter how much I hate the Mar Thoma Cross due to its idolatrous character much less His Excellency Mar Jacob Angadiath. I have always advocated showing due respect for his position as the head of the Syro-Malabar Church in the U.S. and loving everyone regardless of their views on the Crucifix. This will continue to be so always because I strongly believe in it. I will also continue to plead with my supporters who stand with me in the battle for the Crucifix to pray for those on the other side of the aisle.
One thing that deeply hurts me is the fact that many supporters of the Crucifix use unparliamentary language and sometimes even vulgar words when expressing themselves. I am totally against it. This will always be my position in this regard. I feel strongly and emotionally for Mar Jacob Angadiath even when I sometimes use strong language when it comes to my passionate support for the Crucifix. With that said, once again my apologies to His Excellency and anyone else whom I may have offended by not selecting an appropriate title for the above article. May God bless the Bishop and his supporters even as we continue to fight in the trenches each in our own separate ways for the greater glory of God.

Ultimately Crucifix is the Only way to see and feel the suffering Our lord did for us!!
Exactly. And look back and see what went wrong in kerala syro Malabar and other churches. It is horrible amd people still go to church.The state has the worst record in abuse of alcohol, children, women and what not. Leading the world in many chronic deceases attributed to life style and eating junk.State is number one many fields and its shocking. Politicians and religions help each other in their evil against mankind.

Since our SMC-USA administration (Bishop, Kadupple and few of our priests) do not came from real catholic families they need some identity. They eat whatever our forefathers omit. None of you will get real good sleep anymore. Your mind is the most corrupted and deceitful.
If you are real catholic then there is no place for a mar-thoma/manichean cross in a catholic alter. Our identity is our faith in Lord Jesus Christ and full submission of body and soul to proclaim the glory Jesus alone. There is nothing on earth that is so holy and divine like a crucifix and there is none on earth to compare with.
