This cross is made by Powethil and Pallikkaparamban, both are insane.

So how can St. Thomas bring something which was made 600 years after his death?.

It seems like really there are more problems than ego. Otherwise how can Bishop Angadiath act this way.
FR. JOJI if you have a clear head this is the time to think before it is too late. Are you forsaking Jesus' cross? What is the purpose of this church if it is not to help our children learn what we grew up with, that is our traditions, CLAVER IS NOT IT, and for us to come to the type of the church that we know.
When you are stressed out or in pain or looking for security, do you feel like looking at claver cross or does Jesus' cross gives you confidence.
Do not blindly obey the advise of the few men surrounding you, they are staying with you because they can make you do what they want to get done.
Who ever wants claver church should go there, don't try to stay in our church and change it. If claver church is so great how come it is nowhere to be found. Jesus' cross is older than that and it is everywhere. THINK, LOOK AROUND, ACT WISELY!

There is no historical evidence to support the tradition that St. Thomas came to South India, and on 13 November 1952 Vatican officials sent a message to Kerala Christians stating that the landing of St. Thomas at Muziris (Cranganore now Kodungallur) on 21 November 52 AD was “unverified”.
When people sought confirmation of the 1952 Vatican statement in 1996, the Vatican’s reply was disingenuous and noncommittal.
The Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints said that he needed more information and that the life of St. Thomas was the object of historical research and not within his Congregation’s competence.[2]
Earlier, in 1729, the Bishop of Madras-Mylapore had doubted whether the tomb in San Thome Cathedral was that of St. Thomas and wrote to the Sacred Congregation of Rites in Rome for clarification.
Rome’s reply was never published and we may assume it was a negative reply.
Again, in 1871 the Roman Catholic authorities at Madras were “strong in disparagement of the special sanctity of the localities [viz. San Thome, Little Mount, and Big Mount identified by the Portuguese after 1517] and the whole story connecting St. Thomas with Mailapur.”
However, in 1886 Pope Leo XIII stated in an apostolic letter that St. Thomas “traveled to Ethiopia, Persia, Hyrcania and finally to the Peninsula beyond the Indus”, and in 1923 Pope Pius XI quoted Pope Leo’s letter and identified St. Thomas with “India”.
These papal statements also reflect the geography of the Acts of Thomas, as does Pope Benedict’s statement, and make no reference to South India.
In fact, the India they refer to is now Pakistan.

Here is what my question troubling me for a long time.
Where are the donations given to our Bishop get accounted?
If you notice many of our churches lavishly contribute to Bishop for each and every occasion. In Chicago alone, each year for Holy Communion and other events, people contribute $750 each. Many other private events the unofficial gift to Bishop is around $300.00.
Where these above noted contributions are goes?
Are they getting accounted against Bishop’s house or Is it Bishop’s savings? A very hard question to answer.. Ha.?
Our Achans also get paid around $100 or above for each private events other than their 32K salary. For a car blessing alone the cost is around $100. Though it’s not been asked, the fact is it’s expected. I wish one of this priests come forward and make an announcement like – He will not expect any money for Car Blessing, House Blessing etc.. I guess my wish will be a wish ONLY.
In Chicago the new asst vicar is already famous for his ideal approaches. I bet he does not have the deepest guts to make any such brave moves. Preaching is Easy but Dollar is Tempting.
I feel ashamed to write this. But there are simple things which keep on alerting me or questioning the credibility of our leaders. Nowadays several people struggling to make $10/Hour and it’s really hard to explain. And I truly wish these “Must Pay” amount to our church leaders ought to have an end.
I wish Syro Malabar Voice will bring this issue as a known issue and address with it’s own priority. It’s becoming a fact that the oice of this Blog becomes a VOICE itself. People are speaking and People are listening. A simple common movement MUST open the eyes of our leaders to stop this nonsense.
Let our Mar Excellency Bishop stop accepting money for the blessing of the Parish, Blessing the Holy Communion etc. This are part of his duties. If it’s a private event, it may be justifiable. But faith related events…. People Stop Paying – Initiate Protesting and Keep Praying.
