I would like to request that you use your writing skills to help and improve the community, rather than for the character assassination of a priest. You are criticizing Archbishop Roger Mahony, from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. I would like to point out that the Archdiocese of Los Angeles is about 8,700 square miles, the largest Archdiocese in the America (about 60% of the area of the state of Kerala or the total area of Trivandrum, Qulion, Alleppy, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Thrichur Districts). The helicopter was a gift from a group that includes operating costs, insurance, and maintenance. This same group donates more than $1 million a year to charity programs for those who have been stricken by poverty. The Archbishop never used a single penny from Archdiocese funds for the maintenance of the helicopter. In large cities like L.A., traffic is a nightmare, so many high official use helicopters as a convenience, not as a luxury. To cover the pastoral service in the vast area of the L.A. Archdiocese, the group who donated the helicopter found it to be imperative for Archbishop Mahony to have a helicopter in order to be able to serve the entire Archdiocese in a quick, efficient manner.
Father Saji’s use of a limousine to the airport was probably a gift from the parishioners in order to show their gratitude to him for his pastoral services. Accepting a gift from someone is the gracious, classy thing to do. Had he not accepted this gift, he would have insulted these parishioners, as they obviously put a lot of work into arranging the limo. If he had not accepted the limousine from the parishioners, it would have implied to them that he was not grateful for their gracious gift. Accepting gifts in a gracious manner has always been the proper standard in our family, maybe not in your family’s standards. Someone in this blog wrote about the Kerala Bishops’ usage of the Impala car during the 1970’s and 1980’s. Those cars were a gift from the United States, just as this limousine was a gift from the parishioners. Those Bishops in Kerala were not highly criticized for their use of the gift they received, so why is Father Saji being publicly slammed for his use of a gift?
I would ask you use your writing skills for a better purpose. No wonder we have so much drama in the Syro-Malabar parishes and missions, people are continuously criticizing the actions of priests and not respecting their authority, actions, or judgement. By writing this offensive letter about Father Saji, you are being no different than some of the people on this blog trash-talking about some individuals and continuously insulting them. A person’s family background and upbringing will certainly show through on the works they produce and how the public perceives them, just as yours has been reflected in the article you wrote.

I just want some people know that there is a catholic community in Las Vegas. I think some people don't know that.And also there is nothing wrong with visiting Las Vegas. He came here not for Chicago Diosis.His visa was not under them when he came here.His church is one of well organised syromalabar church in USA.He get along with Pala and Trichur guys same way.He get along with Bishop and church members same way.

Then why did he fire Fr.Saji for installing crucifix? Disobedience? Then he should fire all priests in Syro diocese. Then he should fire himself because he has been disobeying our Pope for several years.

COPPELL - An unusual controversy is simmering over a crucifix versus a cross at a Coppell Catholic parish.
Parishioners hung the crucifix after moving into a new building, but their bishop says they disobeyed orders to install a cross. As a result, the priest was fired and the church's funds frozen.
The religious debate unfolding inside the church is as rare as the parish itself.
"I stand for my faith," said Jojo Anthony, a parishioner. "That is the crucifix. I believe in that."
The St. Alphonsa Syro Malabar Catholic Church of DFW is part of the Eastern Catholics from India. It is one of two in North Texas.
Parishioners hung the crucifix, the symbol of Christ dying for others salvation, over the altar. But, the out-of-town bishop wanted the parish of 250 to instead display the Marthoma cross, which signifies the resurrection.
"We don't like the Marthoma cross because it is a creation of man," said Tom Varkey, a parishioner.
The crucifix, they said, is biblically-based.
The Marthoma cross is most popular in the Indian state, where the bishop is from. The debate has now deteriorated into an ugly battle.
The bishop removed the priest and then froze the church's funds, saying the parish did not follow instructions. Plus, he said they never got final approval from the diocese in Chicago before remodeling its new facility.
In a letter, the bishop said he removed the priest, Father Sajy, because he "demonstrated disobedience."
"I am not against the crucifix," he said.
But, when parishioners gave $15,000 to Father Sajy as a gift without permission of the diocese, the bishop said he decided to freeze bank accounts so "the parish might survive such malicious actions by few members of the church."
Parishioners, now tithing less, said their former priest deserved more than he was making.
"I think more than 95 percent of the parishioners want the crucifix," said Jacob Thomas, a parishioner.
Parishioners said the cross versus crucifix debate isn't meant to disrespect the bishop, but rather urge him to respect the faith of his local followers.
As of 10 p.m. Monday, Neither the bishop nor the diosece in Chicago returned calls from WFAA.
